FFirst of all, my dog had been there in the past so they had a card already made out on her. They were familiar with her and when I made my appointment they quoted me $45. She’s an indoor dog that gets a summer trim every year. In 2016 they charged $41 and that included a flea dip (that my husband ordered just as a precautionary). So when I scheduled her appointment for today, and was quoted $45, I asked why had it gone up? She explained it was because they had a price increase due to wage increase. So, okay, I understand and $4 is not going to break me. I dropped my dog off this morning and I believe she was placed in a little crate behind the counter. It was small enough and close enough to the counter that I couldn’t see it. When I went to pick her up, they told me the charge was $56. I told them I was quoted $45 and again I got the spiel of price increased to $51 due to wage increase and an additional $5 for a flea dip. The problem with $5 additional for flee dip is, my dog DIDN’T HAVE FLEAS before going in there. She sleeps with me, and fleas love my fair complexion. I’d know it if either of my dogs had fleas. Lorie insisted she saw a couple on my dog and IF LORIE SAW A FLEA ON MY DOG, MY DOG GOT IT FROM LORIE'S PLACE while she waited for her bath and trim. (Maybe the crate she was put in) I dropped her off at 8 am picked her up at 11 am. That’s only 3 hours. While I was dropping my dog off, Lorie mentioned today was a light day and that they usually scheduled about 20 dogs and more a day. Well with a price increase from $45 to $51 is $6, times that by 20 and that’s $120 A DAY, not to mention the additional $5 they add for unnecessary purposes. If the cost changed during the bath, I think I should have been notified before Lorie took it upon herself to charge for a service that wasn’t needed or requested. Then there’s the $1. extra for card fees. Lorie is NOT a good business person. She’s rude to her customers and doesn’t care if they walk out unhappy with her service. I was prepared to give a 5 star rating to get $5 off her next trim before all this happened, but after being treated like that, I’ll NEVER go back. Paying an extra $15 to save $5 and being treated like that does not make sense to me. While you’re explaining something to her, Lorie talks over you and does not listen.... She doesn’t seem to be concerned with how her customers feel as they are walking out the door. My dog has never looked so ugly either. Before her trims always turned out cute because they left hair on her ears and the hair on her tail was tapered to give a fluff appearance at the tip. Can’t wait for my dogs hair to grow out so I won’t be reminded of Lorie and Lorie’s Pet Palace.

AThey are a wonderful Vet and have taken care of my family of pets for years. I trust their diagnosis and they do have access to the state of the art testing and such. My only hesitation when referring them is the cost factor they are pricey so that you have to be aware of. I also think it would be most helpful if they were a little more sympathetic to finances and how a sick animal can hit you so hard.

AOur dog had not been to a groomer in a while and was quite mangy in areas. She has had less than good experiences with a few of the groomers we've used in the past and can cop an attitude when she knows what's about to happen (just scared and uncooperative, not aggressive). Even though the groomer was challenged, she didn't let on and still did a great and thorough job.

FWhen I got her home she immediately had water diarrhea. She is now on the fifth day and her system is starting to getting better. She hasn't been eating. I haven't been able to sleep because the first 24 hours she wasn't able to go more than two hours without going to the restroom. They told me when I picked her up that everything was fine. That could not have been true as she immediately had to be outside. Her rectum was so swollen and red and it was painful. You couldn't touch her without her screaming which indicates that she was sick for some time. When I called in to see why she came home the way she did. It seemed like she had been drugged. She screamed whenever she bumped into anything. She flinches every time you go to touch her. I called to see what had happened and I have called multiple times. I have never received a return phone call. I was told that they did not play with her even though they said that they had played with her. They also expressed her anal glands and it's in the system to not do that and they did it anyway. I called to have them call me back to explain why they had did that and no one has called me back. It has been five days and she still is sick. There still has not been a phone call. There was no phone call while I was gone to tell me that she was sick. For her to be as sick as she was when I got her home, she would have had to be as sick there. I took my own food for her. I took everything for her. I paid for someone to be with her twice a day. I told them that if she was demonstrating any stress to not let her be with any of the other dogs. They told me that she was with the other dogs for about four hours and she is usually the dog around the house. We talked about her being around the other dogs for maybe 30 minutes. They didn't follow anything that we had talked about. She was so sick when she got home that she could barely walk. She acted like she had just come out of surgery or something. I had read so many good things about them and this was terrible. She had to have been sick for quite some time before I got her. I am worried that she is going to have permanent problems from how bad it was. She went in healthy and fine. There were no problems when she went in. There is no excuse for this as I usually take her here for her grooming and for her medical checkups. There was barely any documentation regarding her stay there even though she was there for three and a half days.

We decided on a high quality Hale wall model pet door. The Hale wall model pet door is high quality,energy efficient,durable and has a really nice appearance. AStar Mutts Pet GroomingIt went wonderful. I tried Star Mutts because I had some issues with a couple of other groomers in the area. From the first phone call where "Misty" the owner and groomer talked with me I had a great feeling. I took "Sherry " in for her 11am appointment. We where greeted by a young girl who I found out was the bather. She was very polite and Sherry took to her right away. Misty then joined in on our conversation saying that she remembered speaking with me she then offered for me to feel free to stick around to help put my mind at ease. I only had to stay for about 15 minutes! A mom just knows :) I was called about two hours later to feel free to pick up my baby she was all ready. WOW I really liked the fact that Sherry did not have to stay at the groomer all day. When I arrived she looked wonderful and smelled awesome. She was so happy never before have I picked her up from a groomer and have her be so happy and playful. In all of my other experiences she has come home pretty upset and it usually took her a good hour or two to get back her normal personality. So Misty and the Girls at Star Mutts are outstanding and they have a customer in Sherry for life.- Patsy W.

AANIMAL JUNCTIONBetty did a great job of gaining my dogs friendship. One dog was a puppy that was hard to handle but she came out beautifully. She was reasonable for each of my dogs and my dogs did not show any stress after leaving her shop. It may be a long wait but if you are up to it, she is great. AElaine's Pet ResortsWe have frequently boarded our dogs with Elaine's for over 20 years. Originally in the 1990's our poodle was boarded and groomed at the Fresno location and we were always pleased. Later our boarder collie enjoyed frequent stays at the new Madera location. We now have a new puppy who is just being introduced to the fun at Elaine's. It isn't just a place for your pet to stay while you're away. it's a place that they will be cared for, pampered and treated like the special family friend they are.
