    Crowworks Construction
Their quality work Crowworks brings is truly outstanding. They are true craftsman who take enormous pride in their work, and do whatever is necessary to make things perfect. Not to mention Crow's unstoppably positive attitude and legendary joke-of-the-day to look forward to every morning. During the design process, Crow can be a real out-of-the-box thinker, but also treats it as a completely collaborative process that's ultimately about making the client 100% happy. He's always been flexible and receptive to changes along the way. Where this meant additional cost, he's always been very upfront and clear. We've all heard all the nightmare stories of contractors that can't set expectations. Crow has given accurate estimates with every project - almost to the day. Very few people can handle everything from highly artistic design & sculpture, to the more mundane such as bathroom tile selection, and actually execute it flawlessly. Overall, I would 100% recommend Crowworks for your design and contracting needs, especially for anything leaning towards the artistic end of the spectrum.

Feraru & Associates Building & Design Inc
Sorin and his team have just completed a ton of dry rot work to clear
the pest report on our recently purchased 1925 stucco house in Albany, CA.
Having dry rot removed and repaired is not the kind of house project
one looks forward to, but Sorin made the process run smoothly and
efficiently.  What does one look for in a good contractor?  I want a
contractor who is knowledgeable, professional, a good communicator,
timely, and can get estimated work done within budget and on time.  I
also want a contractor who can manage a team of workers who are good at
what they do, show up on time, work hard, are respectful of property and
people, and keep the work space neat.   Sorin and his team met and
exceeded my expectations.  It was truly a pleasure to work with him and
when budget allows, we plan to have him back to complete seismic work as
well as remove our chimney, which is pulling away from the house.
I've already recommended Feraru and Associates to two neighbors and will
rely on him for any future work done to our house -- his team seems to
    do it all!

    Xtra Hand
First I have to say the quality of the work was excellent. I had quite a bit to do so the Angie's discount really came in handy as I think they are a bit pricey. They started the work when promised and let me know when work was a bit more extensive and let me know what the price would be to do that. Clean up was not what I expected. I had to clean paint off my deck, sweep up the caulking outside of my windows, etc., etc. I did call them again to install a microwave (they again did a nice job and this one did clean up), however, I had to go back to them when I received the bill as it was quite high. They were quick to revise and I appreciated that. I will use them again.

    Tight Lines Construction Inc
Marc Carrillo's work resulted in completely resolving the crawl space moisture problem that had started to affect our home interior.  Happily, the interior now is back to normal. Plus, we also now have a nice crawl space environment.
Actually, Marc's smart decisions and authoritative craftsmanship created results that exceeded our expectations.
Marc is a very creative person who puts serious thought into creative problem solving.
At the same time, he is the most time-efficient person we've ever hired, which included a couple quick no-fuss shopping trips, he being eager to return to the house to get the job done. In fact, he was wonderful about all time issues, including punctuality, scheduling, and keeping in touch when need be.
Additionally, it was a pleasure to communicate with Marc via email and on the phone before he ever came to our house, as he is very intelligent and pays attention to the big picture as well as to every detail.
He had asked me for the on-line instructions for the fan units, so he could study exactly how to install them, to "hit the ground running" upon arrival. Marc compared reviewers' advice on amazon.com to successfully decide how to best soundproof these particular fan units.
He was happy to give me advice as to where he finds the best quality and best price for materials, so I could order some things online before his first day on the job.
Marc Carrillo supervises his crew very closely as well, making certain when he left to shop for some specific items with my husband, that his crew would stay very busy. All the men at Tight Lines Construction are especially pleasant, responsible, and well-trained (they know how to wield tools expertly.)
Marc cares about his clients, appreciates the costs of time and materials from the client's viewpoint, and is dedicated to producing excellent results.

    Mulhall Construction
It' was a real pleasure working with Mulhall Construction.  They were extremely fair and accommodating and diligent in all respects and delivered a beautiful rock solid driveway and patio and balcony railing at a reasonable price.  In the process, they solved a ticklish drainage problem in a cost-effective way that won my admiration and met the city's picayune requirements.  I enjoyed working with them as they didn't cut any corners, were patient, thoughtful, considerate, creative, and determined to go the extra mile to deliver a first class job. They were always on time and professional and made good 100% on all promises, even when unexpected issues cropped up.  For example, they carted away an extra load of debris to the dump for me and when a carpentry problem occurred in the course of the balcony work,  they went beyond the letter of the contract in order to fix it.  When my landscaping took some hits from the concrete work as it inevitably must, they were willing to share some of the costs to restore it.

    Live Oak Structural Inc
They were very expensive. I called them based on the reviews I read online. The person who came out was kind of spacey. He knew what he was talking about, but he seemed a little scattered. They also took a long time to get the quote to me. It was a high quote. They took such a long time that I had already started on the work. They said they were going to take two weeks and they took two months. I did get other quotes. They were definitely in the high-end, but they weren?t the highest. They only made a bid to do some of the work. They didn?t make a bid for all other work that I wanted to have done. I would probably not use their services again.

East Bay Structural & Termite Co
Really outstanding work. we had not heard much about them, and there aren't many online reviews for this company. They were punctual, responsive, and most importantly did great work. at the end of every day they cleaned up and swept up the jobsite, even though we had not moved in yet. our stucco has some unique patterns that they faithfully replicated. we have no reservations highly recommending them for extermination and structural work.

    Milan Construction Inc
We normally do not spend a lot of time creating reviews, but this one we absolutely wanted to be very detailed and show the results because it is very hard to find someone like Milan in this business. We found Milan when looking for contractors to remodel our master bedroom and bathroom as well as build a deck, all at the top floor of our house. My husband and I had previously retrofitted our house, and so we were very mindful of looking for a good contractor. We interviewed a total of 8, asking for references, and key questions to find out the contractor style, work plan, work ethics and of course schedule and price. Milan was the first contractor we interviewed and he immediately struck us as extremely sharp, competent and above all very reasonable. We honestly thought he was too good to be true, so we continued with the whole interview process. In the end, when the bids came in, after tossing the highest and lowest Milan?s price and schedule was best. We decided to go with him after visiting the houses of his three references, who could not stop talking about the wonderful experience and literally wanted to walk over fire for him. Well, after the remodel is complete, so would we. Here is why: Work quality: Milan only takes on one job at a time and is personally working the project. His attention to detail is incredible. He will make his workers repeat things that we do not even mind. An example: he was installing a marble sill with holes for our bath tub fixture and one of the holes was cut a bit too big. Instead of hiding this with silicone, he went back and reordered the marble sill at no cost to us (a $400 value), and only told us about it after the fact, even apologizing for it. He measured and re-measured to have every part of the room in the best balance. He is super fast on his feet, and constantly finds workarounds to make the best design, even if it is not in the plans, to overcome problems that you always find behind the walls. Another example: we wanted to install a fireplace as a focal point and to warm up our bedroom which was always very cold in the winter. I found a very shallow fireplace that would fit in the wall but it was still too deep. Milan had the idea of bleeding down the soffit to fit the fireplace, which immediately solved the problem. This part is now one of the greatest features in the room. In all the finishing details Milan was equally mindful. Work ethics: Milan?s crew was every single day at our house at 8am sharp, even the subs. All his helpers and subs have worked with him for a long time and it is clear that they have a good relationship. There were no shouts or loud music. If Milan was out running errands, they kept working as if he was there. Overall it was just peace of mind. Another important factor: when we found problems behind the walls (and we found many due to a faulty engineering design for the deck), Milan found workarounds to make the design work (he actually has a degree in Engineering) and even sent drawings to the engineer to make the solving redlines. The most amazing thing is that he was discussing with the engineer about ways to make the deck work for less money. I never heard of a contractor doing that! Finally, my husband and I are super, really, super picky. I am an engineer and every night I would make a punch list of every little detail that I did not find just right. In the morning we would go over the list with Milan. In many cases, he would bring things up himself. Otherwise he would make sure it would get done or we would have a discussion. Milan will tell you if he disagrees with something, but he will always explain the reasons behind. In many cases I changed my mind after hearing his advice, in others he would acknowledge my reasons and move forward. My advice is to always follow your gut on the finishes since you are the person who will live in the space at the end of the day. Otherwise, follow his recommendations!! Schedule: Due to the deck problems, waiting for inspection permits, and other day to day issues, Milan went slightly over schedule. Even so, the overall time spent on the remodel was shorter than the any of the other contractors estimated in the bidding process. He works very fast and effectively, so even though he went over schedule, I would still suspect he generally doesn?t. Price: Milan?s price was great. Not only the initial offer, but much more important to us, he did not play price gauging during the remodel. For the deck problems we found, he charged us an extra $500, something that another contractor could have charged $5000. He even discounted money for areas of the work that we found cheaper ways to do it than in the plans. Bottom line, Milan is a one of a kind contractor and a truly wonderful person. His expertise, honesty, work ethics and craftsmanship will win you over, even if you are the pickiest person in the world. At the end of the day, we absolutely love how our remodel turned up, and above all how painless the experience was. We found a friend. T James Construction
Since we both were new homeowners in the area and had no idea where to begin, we consulted Angie’s List, where we found Todd. We had heard numerous horror stories about various friends’ experiences with contractors: cost over-runs, delays, unreliability, etc., etc., etc. After contacting him, I received and reviewed several references, both those written ones he provided and others received directly from former clients. Overall, Todd is excellent. He is very thorough, refrains from over-doing, and is an excellent carpenter. He designed and built the beautiful bookcase c** modest “library” where old heating and water equipment were. He also generally has had great luck with sub-contractors. They knew their business and were reliable. In addition to being very good at what he does, he if personable and fun to work with.

    T James Construction
I really enjoyed working with T.James Construction. They were able to schedule and complete the door removal work on a tight time-line (since we also wanted to paint the room before we moved in). The wall that replaced the door matched the finish exactly – with nothing to indicate that there was ever a door there. The structural/earthquake retrofitting work was also of high quality and makes us feel safer living in our new home. Our deck is high off the ground and use to wobble a lot – now it is much more secure with no noticeable shaking when we use the deck. I also appreciate their emphasis on green building solutions – they used recycled structural product whenever possible and V.O.C. free primer for the door removal/ wall work in the bedroom. I will definitely use this company again for any future home-remodeling projects
