    AMC Rain Gutters
Awful. He started the rain gutters and on the second day we we canceled the patio covers, He finished doing the rain gutters. Then we found out a couple of weeks later that the rain gutters leaked. Took him a month to get back to fix the leaks. Then he kept telling us he would give our money back for the patio covers. I had to take him to court to get a judgement against him. He paid most of it back but it took over a year. Now he is avoiding us to pay the little balance off.

    LA-Decks Backyard and Pool Remodeling
The short version: Noa and Victor are honest, hardworking and kind people. I love my 1500 sq ft IPE deck, fence, new door and retaining wall. Their rates are competitive - I shopped around before hiring them. They are very knowledgeable and I am also working with them to remodel my kitchen and bathroom next. The long version: My husband and I bought a fixer upper in Hollywood Hills - almost 100 years old and not in a good way. We've had to really prioritize what we can and cannot afford to update. About 18 months ago - I was 4 months pregnant and desperate to remodel my master bathroom and bedrooms. I hired a contractor that was referred by a friend (great reviews on Angies List) and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. A few months ago my very old and rotten fence started falling over and I was filled with anxiety over hiring someone to fix it. I found LA Decks on Houzz - great reviews, beautiful pictures. I requested a quote/appointment on their website and they contacted me in 20 minutes. Noa stopped by my house a few days later and we really hit it off. She was very honest about what we needed to do and thoughtfully listened to all of my concerns. She is not a salesperson, she is a problem solver. She didn't look at my project as a commission, but rather an opportunity to make my home safer and more enjoyable for my little family. My husband has a lot grand ideas, and Victor and Noa kept our project based in reality - so it was both affordable and functional. I called 2 other companies with great reviews on Angies List and Houzz - and I still haven't heard back. Noa encouraged me to shop around so I felt comfortable with my bid. Finally I reached someone, who confirmed her rates were very competitive. I had two issues - yes the fence was falling over because it directly touched the grass and dirt and the constant watering had rotted it. I also had very steep steps (not to code) from my kitchen door out onto my patio. I had every intention of sealing the door when we did our kitchen remodel, and installing french doors to the patio from the dining room. Another contractor had given me a very steep price on this, and tried to change my mind on the whole concept. Noa was actually able to install a beautiful accordion door, with a deck to eliminate the need to build new steps.

    First Cabin Construction Inc.
Dave was extremely attentive to the work and the details. He managed a team of subcontractors on our home remodel. The remodel involved building two new rooms on the house, including a full master suite and bathroom, a study, a backyard deck, and even some landscaping. The workmanship was excellent under Dave's leadership. The job was completed on time (four months) and within budget. Dave and I spoke daily about the progress on the house, and he was always candid and honest - and not once did he pass the buck. If an issue with a contractor arose, he simply took care of it. From my perspective, what could otherwise have been a very stressful situation (like a remodel) was almost effortless because Dave took control of the situation, listened to what we wanted, and then got it done. I would highly recommend Dave and First Cabinet for any job, from the largest construction job to minor repairs.

We tried scheduling a meeting to review our project and meeting was rescheduled three times.

We never successfully met with these folks, but heard good things about their work.

We've gone a different direction on our project.

    Best-Rate Repair & Termite Company

Mike was very quick to contact me once I bought the Angie's List deal. I needed things done as quickly as possible and I think he really made a significant effort to accommodate me. The estimate was higher than I was expecting but after seeing the amount of labor and how much skill goes into wood repair etc., I have a much better understanding of the cost and agree 100% with the amount.

Louis was really fantastic and did excellent work. He worked quickly but carefully. He brought a saw horse and set up in the front of the house, measuring and cutting boards on the spot so each piece fit perfectly. To build, sand, prime, paint, and install the front gate, it took 3 to 4 hours which was just what the estimate had indicated. For the post, he had to remove the rotten wood and then cut 8 separate small panels, forming a two tiered base. Again, his work was precise and included matching and painting.

Louis was also very pleasant and nice to have around. Great work.

    GANAHL LUMBER CO
I purchased about $1000.00 worth of wood for a patio cover projects and had it delivered. A couple of days later I purchase about $400.00 worth of screws and Simpson tie hardware. When the wood was delivered, they dropped it so h****** my driveway the concrete cracked, and two of the 4x12s had termites. I built the cover and had a couple of Simpson ties left over. Unfortunately, I washed the receipt for the hardware in my pants. I didn't think it would be a problem since Lowe's and Home Depot can use your credit card to look up the purchase and do a return without problem. Turns out, they don't do this at Ganahl. In fact. they have a policy that they won't return any Simpson products. When requested a manager, he said they would do it with a 15% restocking fee. This number seemed to be pulled out of that place from which monkeys fling feces. If you are a contractor, you can just charge these things off to the customer, but as a do-it-yourselfer, I can't. Ganahl is not for consumers like me. My recommendation is all do-it-yourself types shop at the national home improvement stores. You can get anything Ganahl has from them with a much better return policies.

    LA-Decks Backyard and Pool Remodeling
My wife and I could not be happier with the deck they built for us and the overall experience. A few years back we remodeled our master bathroom and if we could go back in time to hire Noa and Victor for the project instead of the contractor we used back then we would do it for sure!!

    OC Decks- Water Proofing Systems
Working with OC Decks could not have been any easier. As we are a busy office, they were able to accomodate to work around our schedule more than a few times, due to noise at the start of the project. Updates were provided often and just overall a pleasure to work with.

I have been very satisfied with them. They are a little pricey but they are very thorough, and very good at what they do. Their design service is outstanding and the quality of their workmanship is outstanding.

    California Property Maintenance
Excellent, professional, timely, thoughtful, dependable. Saved us a bunch of money in particular with regard to our kitchen sink, which other plumbers had said needed to be replaced at huge cost. He also did a full detail on my car. Nothing too small ... and if a job needed greater expertise, he knew where to find it! Great find!!
