    Fireplace Door Guy
They were wonderful. Danny does amazing work and Jake is a perfectionist. They were right on schedule and a pleasure to work with. Since the doors are custom made it takes about 4 weeks to get installed...but totally worth the wait. It took about 40 minutes to install.

    Above It All Roofing, Inc
We failed to do our due diligence when interviewing this company for the repair to our roof and didn't find out until too late that ABOVE IT ALL ROOFING WAS NOT INSURED. A responsible roofing contractor should have liability insurance to protect his customers from damage caused by the roofers during repair or replacement. Never mind the details about what exactly happened. The owner will likely post a reply on this site denying any responsibilty. The reason for this review is to hopefully protect others from finding out the hard way that this company does not carry insurance to protect his customers. As stated, prior to signing a contract, we neglected to ask for proof of insurance coverage from Above It All Roofing. We just hired the company based on all the glowing Angie's List reviews. Long story short, not long after the work was done, damages were incurred and we had to file an claim with our insurance company. Per our insurance rep, she contacted the owner to discuss his liability and it was at this point that the owner acknowledged that he was not insured and added that it was cheaper in his experience, for him to pay off the claims than to pay the cost for insurance for the company. And in fact, almost one year later, that's exactly what the owner did. Once our claim escalated to the subrogation department, he reimbursed our insurance company for the cost of all the repairs SO BE WARNED. If you decide to go with this company, or any company, for that matter, DO NOT RELY ON GOOD REVIEWS NOR THE FACT THAT THE BUSINESS IS LISTED ON ANGIE'S LIST. ANGIE'S LIST DOES NOT VET THESE COMPANIES. ANGIE'S LIST USES AN 'HONOR SYSTEM' THAT ASSUMES THE BUSINESS OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION TO HIRE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ASK TO SEE THE COMPANY'S PROOF OF WORKERS COMP AND LIABILITY INSURANCE. Update: This is actually a response to the company's owner reply to my original review dated 10/2/18. We don't want to go into any more back and forth "he said/she said" comments about an event no one outside the involved parties will ever be able to judge, just remember this: Make sure you search online for "6 Questions to Ask Roofing Contractors When Hiring" and get those questions answered before you sign on the dotted line.

We loved the fact Horizon had a nice showroom where we could find everything we liked. It made all decision process much easier for us. Mark Besnos did excellent job, he planned everything very well. The communication was great and easy. Enna Eskin was helpful at office and over emails. Pacific Coast Custom Design
Initial design - went well, very detailed and well thought out plan Implementation - lots of problems in the construction/work phase. Tile laid incorrectly and had to be redone; cabinets brought in with very poor quality paint finish - had to be taken in and redone about 2-3 times and still have issues with paint chipping/bubbling. Only about 50% of the soft close drawers and cabinets work correctly. Cabinet doors/drawers are out of alignment and never quite fixed right. We ended up hiring other workers to correct Pacific Coast Custom Design mistakes. Some of the other workers happened to be unlicensed but were able to fix the Pacific Coast design mistakes. It appeared that Pacific Coast Custom Design was not happy about that and started blaming the unlicensed workers for problems created by Pacific Coast Design. Would recommend to do lots of research before choosing a cabinet company. Be sure to ask about baked on cabinet paint finish (versus sprayed in factory or in home), and Blum drawer glides/hinges. Also the company policy as far as finishing touches such as cabinet alignment. Perhaps we would have had better luck going with semi-custom, rather than custom cabinets. It appears the semi-custom is better quality.

    A-1 Chimney Sweep
I wasn't home when the provider came out on Tuesday, but arrived shortly after. The employee who came out was nice and respectful and answered some of the questions I had. I had to leave to take care of some personal business, leaving my mother home with him while he completed the work. I had a snap-on socket rail with multiple sockets and a quarter inch ratchet sitting on the mantle on Sunday night, as I had been working on fixing/removing the glass fireplace door to get it repaired as well. When I came back home later Tuesday evening, these tools were missing. I asked my mother if she had moved them, but she had not. I called the company and asked if the employee (David) if had accidentally taken the tools. He said he would check and call me back, but never did. When I didn't hear back from him, I called again and gave him an ultimatum...either return the tools and we could go our separate ways (no harm, no foul) or I was going to file a police report, which I am in the process of doing now because I have not had my tools returned. I would hate for this to happen with anyone else, so I strongly advise using a different company for chimney maintenance or repair.

Let me start by saying we really, really liked and trusted Kurt and my husband considered him a friend. We have an entire interior remodel to do as well and he was going to be the man for the job. Unfortunately, this job totally fell apart. It was supposed to take 6-8 weeks and ended up taking the better part of five months. In our opinion, Kurt was not totally focused on the job - he was rehabbing a custom car and as the weeks and months went on, that took much of his time and attention. The window company he hired (C&M Windows) was sub-par, they mismeasured multiple windows which had to be returned and re-ordered, adding another 6 weeks to that portion of the job. We ended up having to go with another vendor for our sliders, and eat the cost of an additional window that was reordered incorrectly. In our opinion, the owner of the window company was totally unprofessional (he actually was abusive to me and got in my face when I questioned his work). After more than 3 months of little progress, we eventually had to hire someone else to finish the window installation. Throughout the process, Kurt did not provide invoices for any of the work being done, so we created them ourselves to keep up with the costs. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between me and my husband and we overpaid Kurt more than two thousand dollars. When we asked about the overpayment he admitted we overpaid but said he didn't have the money anymore. We began the job in early August and Kurt left the job in January -- and in our opinion never completed his work as GC, including work that still needed to be done by his subs. Over the course of the next year, we asked Kurt for the money back, even offered him other jobs to work off the value owed, but our calls and emails were not only ignored, we were accused of harassment, which was devastating to us. This year, my husband reached out to him one more time to offer him a job to settle at less than half the value of what he owes us and he never responded. It ended up taking us TWO YEARS to get his stucco guy to come do the final fog coat. For argument's sake, at least he was a man of his word, unlike Kurt Gerum.

    APlus Interior Design & Remodeling
Saw the APlus Kitchen Design ad in Orange County Register....My wife and I actually went to another kitchen design store in Anaheim and spent a couple hours there. On our way home, we stopped at APlus Kitchen Design showroom and factory and met Alex Tabrizi the owner.
Needless to say we were very impressed with Alex and his company.
He came out to our home shortly after to take measurements as well as spending several hours with us to discuss our kitchen remodeling needs.
We came back to his shop to finalize our kitchen design and get the process going.....The  work from start to finish went very well. The various people working on the kitchen remodel were great. All the guys have pride in their work and it shows in the final product. We are enjoying our remodeled kitchen that is more functional then our original 1997 kitchen that was new when we purchased our new home back in 1997. What is amazing is that we increased our cabinet and storage space by 50% in the same footprint as our 19 year old kitchen.
We actually have not filled all of the cabinet space in the new cabinets.....Will need to go to Bed Bath & Beyond to buy more kitchen goodies to fill the empty shelves and drawers.

Bryan was professional and thorough - both on the phone and in person.  He had all details of my grill so that I did not have to try to recall model #, etc.  He had cleaned our grill last year (amazing service!!) and notified me to the issues with the burners (major corrosion).
He ordered the parts quickly and scheduled the installation in a very timely manner.  He is very personable and respectful.  AND he doesn't mind our obnoxiously overly-friendly dogs!
We will continue to call on Bar-b-clean for our built in Lynx BBQ.

    GoodFellas Construction
My wife and I chose Goodfellas primarily because our ability to collaborate and trust Danny Gold. ?He is friendly, professional, experienced, and understanding of our renovation project. ?Prior to starting any renovation project, no one know exactly all the project details and small/medium issues that you just didn't anticipate will happen. ?Having a working relationship is key to keeping the project budget in line and getting to the desired end result. ?From a pricing perspective, Goodfellas was competitive but our decision was not based on the price alone. ?We have high expectations on Danny and Goodfellas Construction and will be providing an updated review once the work has completed. Update 1/31/16 Work on our project started on 1/11/16. ?In the past 3 weeks, the Goodfellas team, led by Rudy, has been on the ground and making tremendous progress. ?They demolished all the flooring, kitchen, pony wall, and staircase railing within the first 5 days of the project. ?In the next few weeks, they relocated our kitchen plumbing from the wall to the new island location, completed the framing of the new kitchen layout and pantry, installed new recess lighting, and merged our master bedroom closet. ?My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the pace of the team! ?Our estimated project completion date is the end of April 2016, but I think they will be able to finish it 4-6 weeks early!! Good Job Rudy! Over the next month, We will update our review as the Goodfellas team progresses. ?So far, we believe we made a great choice in selecting Danny and his team!

OC BBQ Cleaning & Repair LLC
I have a 15+ year old BBQ Galore Turbo gas grill.  I love this BBQ and for what I have replaced in parts I could have probably bought a new one!
I search Angie's List for BBQ cleaning and repair.  This BBQ had never been professionally cleaned and I was having a problem with the gas regulator and the burners. I spoke with Lou (owner) told him of my issues with the BBQ and an appointment was scheduled the next day with Scott.  Scott arrived promptly and quickly got to work.  He was able to hook up a new gas line and valve (I provided) and thoroughly cleaned and polished the BBQ.  He worked nearly 2 1/2 hours consistently.  One of my grill stone grates had rotted off so he drilled in a screw that would hold the grate in place and above the burner.
My BBQ looks brand new!  It was the best $150 I have spent in a long time.  I would recommend Lou's company and expecially Scott without hesitation!
