  • Just spoke with a rep who showed zero interest in my business or my situation.
    I called a contractor yesterday after I was assigned to them.  Upon calling the guy he was very rude to me on the phone, wouldn't make an appointment, and said he'd call me back later that day.  He did not.
    He called me at 8:40am on Saturday AM to make the appointment.  I don't want to work with a contractor who can't keep his word and runs his business this way.
    AHS customer service rep said he had 24 business hours to make the appointment.  I asked what a "business hour" was?  If he called me at 1am to make the appointment would that be OK?  He had the opportunity to call me at a reasonable hour on a business day (Friday) and he did not.  I was informed there is no way for me to switch contractors.  That is unacceptable.  I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there are no supervisors.
    I will not be renewing my AHS services.  You have no power over who gets to do the work on your home.

  • Has a friend ever told you - Home Warranty Companies are a waste of money?  I like to have all my bases covered so I thought I absolutely had to have a home warranty.  I've owned my home for over 10 years and work very hard at upkeep and do much more than the average maintenence.  Choice Home Warranty (CWH) was the worst company I've dealt with in a very long time.  This was the first time since I had the warranty I actually used them (since 2009).  The issue was simple or so I thought.  My refrigerator which is in great shape was making an odd noise - there was something odd happening with the motor.  Choice sent out a substandard service provider who stated that my fridge was not installed up to code and that he could not fix the noise.  This is after spending, at the most, 5 minutes in my home and not even moving the fridge - he actually barely even opened the door.  I called Choice Home Warranty to tell them this was absurd - which they told me I had to find another provider to inspect the fridge to confirm it was installed correctly.  I did that.  I also wrote several letters (registered mail) and sent them to their VP of customer service as well as their Preident, in addition to several emails sent to the email address provided on their website.  NOT ONE RESPONSE - and I know the letters were received since they had to be signed for.  I called again to let them know that the second opinion I received not only agreed with my first assessment, as well as confirmed that my fridge was completely up to code and in great shape, they also confirmed it was indeed the motor, which they replaced very quickly.  This was stated in writing.  Choice Home Warranty didn't believe that and insisted on calling the company themselves.  Which they did.  After several phone calls tryin to follow up on this (after CHW insisted that they would call me back and never did), CHW denied my claim stated that it really was a clogged coil and therefore they weren't covering it!!  So what am I paying for??  After this experience, I decided to cancel my warranty early -I figured even if I get a little cash back, that's better than nothing at this point.  Well CHW found another loophole - When they convinced me to purchase the 3 1/2 year service, the provided an extra couple of months for "free".  Wouldn't you know it - they money back is so minimal as a result of these extra "free months", it's not even worth it to write a check.  I will NEVER use Choice Home Warranty again.  Not only was my experience of trying to get my fridge fixed unsuccessful but their service provider was substandard and their customer service is horrible.  I strongly advise you to run from this company.

  • We paid the emergency fees ourselves, then found out a/c was dead. Was time to replace the compressor. THe unit AHS was going to provide was junk, so I asked for cash so I could use it towards a better unit. They only paid $1,500... when base models go for over $4K. Total rip-off.
