    Aqua Concepts Inc
After many extremely expensive quotations to reinforce my pool (some for $250,000) from other builders and pool construction specialists, Richard and his crew from Aqua Concepts completely repaired my pool for $4800. That was over fifteen years ago and it is still good. Seriously you can't beat that! What clued me in is that Richard teaches people how to build and repair pools!

    Robert Palacios Masonry Inc
The work was done by Robert and his crew. They were very good, neat, clean and worked hard everyday, they cleaned up at the end of the day and never left a mess. Their work was excelent. The job was completed on time and for the agreed upon amount. The crew Nicho, Augustin and Martin were extremely nice and reliable, I trusted them so much that I gave them a key to my gate and house durring the project. Any further masanory work that I need will be done by them.

    EGALD CONSTRUCTION Inc
This job could not have gone better. From beginning to end, this was fantastic. From the first call that was made, Efrain called me back that same day. We made an appointment to see the property and he arrived right on time. He did a thorough review of the situation and made a couple of different suggestions as well as hearing my thoughts and ideas. He was able to provide an estimate right away. It was clearly written out and itemized the process for payment and work to be done. My neighbor and I reviewed the estimate and agreed to the price and terms. Efrain was able to begin within a couple of days. He was right on time, every day, for the entire project. He would communicate each day and inform what the next steps would be. He made sure we understood the process and answered any questions. He also did not hesitate to ask us questions when he needed us to make a decision on some finishes for the fence and gate. EGALD Concrete was outstanding. Each day, the workers would clean up the entire area, prior to leaving. Some items would be piled neatly to the side, but this was an amazing site for a construction site. When the job was completed, right on time and on budget, the wall and the fence look GREAT! I have already asked Efrain to bid on another job at another one of my properties.

    R Rasmussen Concrete
I requested an estimate. Randy was courteous on the telephone and explained that he was involved in a big project so it would be a few day before he had time to look at the project. Everything went smoothly...he showed up looked at my plans and he had constructive suggestions. I was satisfied with the examples he showed of his work. He said he would send an estimate in a day or two. Nothing...no estimate.....waited....nothing, no estimate.....made a call to ask what was happening with the estimate....no answer.....called again....no answer. So after about three weeks of this we moved on.

    Omar R Construction
We had a cracked driveway, and the crack was letting water seep through into our foundation. It was creating a lot of problems with the wooden support beams underneath.  Our regular handyman attempted to repair it but soon realized the driveway was a lot tricker than we had first realized.  We're in the hills, and the driveway was suspended, supported by beams underneath but not resting on solid ground.  At that point, he said we needed to call a specialist in.
We met with a few driveway repair companies, but Omar was the only one who immediately realized that our driveway was supported in a unique way, and he knew how to fix it.  My handyman replaced the wooden beams, and then Omar and his crew came in, added a waterproof layer underneath, poured the concrete, and added a second waterproof layer on top.
This was just completed so I'll be looking for leaks underneath once the rain comes, but so far I'm extremely pleased with his work and professionalism.  Already asking him to bid on some other projects we need done.

I had signed up for an Angie's List "Big Deal" with this provider based on earlier reviews.  It only covered a small fraction of the total cost, due to the square footage of the driveway to be redone.
I contacted the provider and the owner (Jose Macias) came out and showed me some photos of available alternatives.  After I selected one, I received an estimate via email of the total cost.
The work crew (along with Jose) showed up that morning, and the work was completed by the end of the day.
I was quite pleased with the final results.  There have been some small irregularities in the surface color as the concrete dried, but I had been told they might appear over the next 30-45 days.
Unfortunately, someone (intentionally, I believe) left multiple skid marks on the resurfaced driveway a couple of weeks after the job was completed, so I'm now faced with the job of determining how best to get rid of those.  Whether or not this could have been prevented by applying some protective sealant to the finished driveway I don't know.  (I should have researched this beforehand, I guess, and asked about it, but it was never mentioned when I got an estimate or after the job was done).

    J P GENERAL BUILDING INC
They had to go from the front of the house to the back. They layed down plastic on the carpet, and started work. Very professional and hard working. Brought the right equipment to break up the cement, and spanish tiles. The balcony looks great. I also had a water leak the third day they were working on the house. The water leak had nothing to do with the job. They took time to help me find the leak which was hard to find. The leak was under a cement walk way so I was very confused. By process of elimination we figured out where the leak was. they also fixed the leak for me. The workers were hard working and you felt like they were proud of their job.

    California Construction Center
I was very nervous, I had just moved to Los Angeles and bought a home, that was, well, kind of falling apart and I wasn't too sure who to call. I checked out Angie's list and found my "Life Savers", California Construction Center! I started out with just the bathrooms & kitchen remodeling and then half way through that, because I was so pleased, I asked Jonathan if they could do more work, "Of course we can, we can do whatever you want us to do", so with that, I just kept adding projects, new tile floors, new lighting through out the house, new "stamped" concrete and new circular driveway, new roof, with sky lights and solar, new walls, making more room, I just stand back and look at the difference each day and I am SO happy with my "new" house. I'm truly thinking about adding a pool and outdoor kitchen BBQ, for next summer. Thank you, sincerely, California Construction Center, for helping make a really nervous decision turn into such a "calm" one, Jonathan, you and your company are "family" thanks again!

    GoodFellas Construction
Remodeling my home took 3 main things:  First, a vision.  And I mean, the idea, the design, the colors, the space and look and feel-- all thought out.  Then it took saving money and finding THE RIGHT contractor.  Now normally, in the past, I have used individual repair men, or companies, to do odd and end jobs?guys I found by word of mouth etc.  But for remodeling 3 bathrooms in my home, (and eventually my entire downstairs!)  I needed a good contractor.
I used Danny with Goodfellas Construction.  In the fall of 2011, we decided to do all three bathrooms in my home at the same time. Kind of crazy, but we did keep one working toilet in the house so we weren?t completely without for the duration.
The thing I really liked about Danny?s company was his GoodFella crews.  He has terrific teams of guys who work quickly, show up on time, don?t disappear for weeks at a time, that all do detailed, quality work.  I really liked the tile guys, and the hotmop guys and the glass guys and the electrical guys and well, the plumber and the foreman, it was truly great to have a team of people in my home that I could trust daily, feel comfortable around, and most importantly who did quality work.  They took pride in showing me what was accomplished at the end of each day.  And that is exciting as a homeowner!  When I wanted more shelves in my shower for example, they cut out 4 nice built-in shelves to hold all my shampoo bottles.  They customized to my wishes!
    (see photo)
The bathrooms turned out great.  I purchased my own tiles, and my own fixtures for the plumbing etc, so that added to my cost and the time spent shopping around, but I liked having them install EXACTLY what I wanted so I was willing to do this extra running around and expense.  And yes, it did get expensive, but I was happy with the outcome.   Also Danny is great at handling permits and dealing with city inspectors etc... Kudos to Danny and Goodfellas for his range of abilities dealing with people!
The following spring, March 2012, I called Danny and his guys out again to give me an estimate on remodeling my entire downstairs (including drywall, and painting), building a deck in the backyard, redoing my garage interior, upgrading electrical in several spaces, installing new vinyl windows and doors, fixing 2 chimney fireplaces, painting the entire outside of the house, and doing travertine flooring.  It was a big job, but we had our vision in place, and the timing was right.  Danny came through with, again, great teams.  I was here myself for the job, and we all worked together, making the details happen to my satisfaction and within a reasonable time-frame.  I ran around getting materials like windows and doors, and fixtures and the paint I like best, but that was our arrangement, and I like having control over the exact items to be used.  Again, the cost went a bit over budget, but with the scope of work, we had to leave room for extra expenses.  And the outcome was worth it!  I absolutely love it all!!
    The guys did great work.
I was extremely happy with the travertine stone flooring, and the way the fireplace turned out downstairs (they used my travertine to make the fireplace look great!).  Also, the back patio?just lovely.  I was so happy we could figure out a way to do my vision. I also was happy that the guys worked the entire time, prioritizing my project, I never felt abandoned like if they got pulled off my job to do other jobs. That didn?t happen.   I liked feeling like the teams were in place until the job was done.  Thank you!  Overall, it was a great experience and I am extremely happy with the quality of the work!
Danny is friendly but professional.  He handles his crew and subs well, and they respect him.  His delightful, friendly and out-going personality makes for a very good experience.  You definitely feel "taken care of."
My final point is this:  Is there room for improvement?  Sure.  As with any home remodeling job experience, there are things that can be fine-tuned.   Communicating your expectations is very important.  Be specific about your expectations up front. Be specific about the costs.  If you don?t like communicating by text message, then tell him you prefer phone calls.  Everyone is different, and it is a stressful thing spending a lot of money on your home improvement project.  So be specific.  And be up-front about your expectations.  Danny?s guys are great, and the work is excellent.  I highly recommend this company, just be involved and communicate clearly!
Final word about price: There are cheaper companies out there. There are ways to cut corners. But when it comes to your home, and your peace of mind with trusting people IN your home, I think it?s worth it to use Goodfellas Construction.  Do it right the first time.  Penny wise can be dollar foolish.  My 2 cents. :)
