    We made a total of five trips, including pre- and post-surgery appointments, two of which required overnight stays in a nearby motel
    because of early morning appointments.  The cataract was also removed from the other eye and both surgeries were a complete success and I got my life back because of Dr. Holz.

    They are fine.  Overall I think it's the best system out there however with Kaiser we must be a strong self advocate.  We need to go in there either strongly being our own patient advocate or take in somebody with us having a patient advocate there.  Left to our own devices if we are inexperienced, unknowlegeable and don't know the system then we are really at a loss.  That is where they really fall down.  I'm a registered nurse and I was a Kaiser nurse for twenty years so I know how the system works.  When I take my husband in there, I'm in the doctor's face and on the nurse's butt.  I watch everything and I make sure they don't miss step B when they are going from A to C.  Most people don't have that knowledge and they are ones that we hear the Kaiser nightmare stories from because they weren't able to advocate themselves.  Every time I go in there either for myself or for my husband, I go in there with my flag waving.  We have to be proactive if we want quality care.  My doctor is leaving in a couple of weeks and that is the problem.  A lot of practitioners come in when they are new and just when we are settling in, getting to know them and like them, they are gone.  I've had to change so many doctors every few years because my doctor left.

    I hope my experience is not typical.  It has been several years since I've been seen there, and Dr. Fitzer now has another 9 years of practice under his belt.  I hope that over the years he has learned to listen to his patients.  I hope he now takes a moment before entering the exam room to glance at the chart.   I hope that he now documents and considers what his patients say to him.   Many of the health problems I now contend with could have been minimized and in some cases avoided if only he had heard me.
    Post note:
    Shortly after I started seeing Dr. Small, I presented in his office with stomach cramps.  It turned out that I had appendicitis and had to be rushed to the ER and was admitted for surgery.  I mentioned to Dr. Small while in the office, that I'd had similar pain previously, and that I had complained to my previous doctor.  He asked me what the doctor said it was?  And I answered " He didn't know".   (Nor did he do anything to find out).

    I've been with them since 1964. I have been very happy with the entire program most of the time. They are totally automated so when I go in to see anybody at Kasier, all of my medical records are right there on their computer. If they send me to a cardiac specialist in San Francisco he has all of my medical records and can see every lab test I've ever had in the last 20 years. I can always get in to see a doctor, usually the same day and usually my doctor that I see all the time. They have been very, very good to me.

    I had had severe diahrrea for many months while living in Italy.  Upon my return I made an appointment to see Dr. Park.  She reviewed my extensive history and decided on what tests should be performed in order to diagnose the cause of my symptoms.  After those tests were performed Dr. Park explained to me what was going on and recommended a course of treatment.  I now am in the course of treatment for IBS with severe diahrrea.  All seems to be going well.

    The doctor listens really well, takes his time and makes sure that all your questions are answered. He knows his work. The staff is very nice and I have had good experiences with them. They always call back if they needed to know anything or wanted to tell me something. They get us in quite quickly.

    He was the worst doctor I have ever seen. He had the worst bedside manner I have ever seen. He was a terrible listener and didn’t give my dad enough time to ask any questions he had, and when my dad reported any symptoms to him, he would just brush them off and didn't consider them in his treatment. I think that he didn't even catch what was being said to him a lot of times, and he made mistakes for not listening well.

    I’ve been seeing him for probably five years now.  He has his own practice and he’s not part of a larger practice.  So he can spend lots of time with his patients and I really appreciate that.  So I’m absolutely just not a number there.  In fact last time when I went to him, he told me that a bigger practice invited him to join them and he could make a lot more money but he decided to turn it down.  He said that he turned it down because he didn’t want to shove his patients out the door in just five minutes.  We appreciate that about him.  He does acupuncture which is pretty cool.  Acupuncture is great for pain management.  He hasn’t really treated me for anything.  I mostly just go to him for check ups.  I was volunteering at my kids pre-school for having doing the tetanus shots.  We’ve done just stuff like that.  We haven’t really got any treatments or anything.  He’s there when I need to call him about anything.  We would use his services again in the future.

    He is excellent. He never over or under prescribes medication. He listens. Once I had to call in an emergency and the answering service connected me with him at 10:00 at night. He talked to me and recommended I go to the emergency room and be evaluated.

    I like that she specializes in adult care. She is also a great listener and really focuses on the patient and his/her needs. Her staff is OK, it could be a lot better. Overall the whole experience with her is pleasant and I will use her again.
