    Your question: "Was money paid or were services performed?" is ridiculous. How can I possibly answer that question? Yes, money was paid; No services were not performed. I paid $71 for the tech to stand by and wait for the fridge to make sounds, which it never did. As soon as he was gone, the noise started again.

    He was very responsive to all communication and showed up on schedule.  He detailed the repair and replacement options and the prices for each.  I opted for repair and he worked quickly to finish in under an hour.  The work is excellent and the dryer is as good as new.

    We were displeased, of course, at the high estimate. I even suspected that the technician didn't go through the tech sheet to locate the problem; he said something completely general: "It's either a control board, or it's the motor. Or both." We reluctantly opted to replace the machine, even though I hate landfilling stuff. When I went to shop around for a replacement, I found a competing local appliance repair/sales place, that would have given us the check-up and estimate for $60, less than half the $125 Mike's charged. Also: their price for the machine we bought was 30 dollars less than Mike's price. That being said, we did wind up buying it from Mike's, for two reasons: one, they had one in stock and we had a heap of laundry piling up; the other company would have taken three days to arrive. And two: Mike's said we could have half our $125 back if we bought from them. So Mike's overpriced repair process was the bait that made us buy from them. Friendly, though.
