Practically begged this contractor to do my job, kept getting put off. Finally got him to show up for an estimate. A week later, when I still hadn't received the estimate, I had to call and follow up. We agreed on a price. The day he was to start, he showed up (late) and wanted over 50% of the estimate. I pointed out that the State Contractor's Licensing Board allows up to 10% of the job. Things went downhill after that. He became very confused about the job itself (though we'd been over it twice) and said he would return the following day. He never did and that was fine with me, but a colossal waste of my time. I encourage you to not waste yours and call another contractor.

    Creative Home Remodeling Group Inc.
APPROACH WITH CAUTION I was told that way to replace my retaining wall was to remove all of the terracing and create a new concrete wall. I thought that this might be the case. BUT, I was told that I could not be given an estimate, not even a ballpark estimate, until I spent $3200 for a soil test and to have architects and engineers come to visit my yard. That is insane. If, after such tests, they gave me an outrageous estimate what was I to do? If I walked away I would be out $3200. The dude was quite knowledgeable, but the approach was not a fair one. I could say it was not ethical, but perhaps that is a little strong. Clearly the dude hoped I was a rube and he could make a lot of money off me. Glad I stepped away. Others should be careful with this company.

    J. Baron Construction
This is the second time I have hired J. Baron Construction (JBC). They did such an awesome job remodeling my master bathroom, that I had to have them return. My condo recently flooded due to an upper unit flood. The remodel started out as an insurance job, however I took advantage of this incident and decided to remodel the entire unit. I was so grateful to learn that JBC was very knowledgeable when working with my insurance company. The lead contractor had a lot of patience and was able to guide me in areas of the insurance process that I did not understand. As far as the remodel, well what can I say other than it is FABULOUS!!! This Team always delivers with excellence!! The details in their work is worth every penny. I love the feeling I get every time I open the door to go home. Thank you JBC!!

    J. Baron Construction
    J. Baron Construction performed a complete remodel on my master bathroom. The quality of work, craftsmanship and attention to detail delivered was impeccable. Without question, this was A+ work!! When I first shared my bathroom vision and future plans to rent out this property, the JBC Team kindly suggested materials and a design plan that would both suit my current needs and the needs of future renters. The materials selected were elegant, timeless and best of all, affordable. This project was completed on time and stayed well within my budget. JBC's pricing is arguably comparable. Professional, organized, trustworthy, and perfectionism is what you get with this company. They are worth ever dollar spent. I LOVE my new bathroom!!! Every time I enter, I feel as though I am in a high-end hotel bathroom. Thank you JBC Team!! You gave me more than I ever expected. Without question, I am rehiring you to remodel my second bathroom.

When I bought my house, there was a driveway opening in the sidewalk which was in the wrong place. Because of the way the fence was constructed, this made it very difficult to get in and out of the driveway. I wanted a company that could not only replace the concrete and gravel driveway with pavers, but also correct the sidewalk situation, so that the curb apron was closed in the right area and the driveway opening was in front of the actual driveway entrance. Most companies I contacted would do one or the other, but not both. Paver companies would not do the sidewalk work, and concrete contractors couldn't do the the pavers. I had Eminent construction put pavers in my back yard 2 years before (and along the side of the house), and they did a great job, so I called them. Miron was able to come out quickly to give me an estimate, and worked with my work schedule. I gathered several other estimates, but most companies wanted far more than my budget would allow, or they wouldn't do the work because the driveway was too small. The bigger paver companies don't want to deal with you unless your driveway is a large enough size, which mine was not. I was glad Miron didn't balk at doing a smaller (but somewhat complicated) job. Miron's guys are top notch. They show up early, and they work super hard. The first day they demo'd everything, and the second day they worked their butts off for maybe 12 or 13 hours. They do really great work with the pavers, and it's clear that they know their stuff. On the last day, they did the sidewalk work, and the driveway and sidewalk apron look beautiful. They even put a little swirl design in the concrete of the driveway entrance which looks fantastic. It looks better than the ones done by the city on either side. I was so impressed by it, I stayed up most of the night guarding it from any kids who might want to carve something into it. I'm glad to say it was successfully defended, and looks great. There was one small bush/tree that I was hoping to save by moving it, but that didn't get done. However, it was definitely in the way, and may not have come out of the ground intact because of where it was planted. Not a big deal. The guys are normally pretty good with special instructions - they built me a bocce court in the backyard despite never having done it before, and it's great. Just like two years ago, Eminent Construction did a fantastic job. My paver driveway looks fantastic. I've never had a paver driveway before, and it is pretty phenomenal compared to concrete. It matches the pavers on the side and the back, and my house's curb appeal is 1000% better.

What we were told would be a few days ended up taking over a month and a half to finish. This was due to Shay (who did the initial inspection when we were first buying the house) not moving any dirt from a big pile that had been placed over the years by various people needing to retrofit the pipes under the house.
Turns out, this dirt was a big problem and took a very, very long time to get out. It also covered up MAJOR issues in the house that we weren't aware of when we were in negotiations. If we had known, or if Shay had done his due diligence, we would probably not have bought the house or we would have asked for WAY more money taken off the price. So this was a major dissappointed as we had to front the bill.
When they were doing the retrofitting of the foundation, the support beams they added straightened out the foundation and raised the sagging parts (which were due to terrible drainage that was causing the middle of the house to sink into the ground below). Even though it was just an inch that was raised, this caused major cracks on the plaster walls...which needed to be repaired. Shay didn't want to have his guys fix the cracks initially, but when we finally got him to do it, his guy did a really unimpressive job and left a complete mess behind.
The guys were WAY behind schedule. We had wanted all work to be done by the time we moved in. Instead, they were there on and off for the next month after we moved in. Not fun. Sometimes they came. Sometimes they didn't. There was no clear schedule even when pressed for one daily. They were staggering too many jobs at once.
The cleanup and fixing of minor details when finishing the various jobs (they also took out an asbestos pipe and a wall AC unit) was poor. They did the work, but I hope (and not knowing anything about how to do this stuff myself...) that it wasn't done as poorly as their plaster patching and painting were done...
I also found Shay pressing me to write a review even before all the work was done in poor taste. But besides for that, I liked Shay...and here is to hoping that our house is safely bolted to the foundation now and that there wont be any more drainage issues under our house...

    MB Paving
Fantastic experience with MB Paving! So responsive and professional start to finish: Jose returned calls immediately, was on time to appointment, gave me a tiered estimate so I could decide how much work I could afford, did beautiful job on the actual drainage and concrete work. He was so easy to communicate with--a standout from from the crowd. I will call him again for any project in his bailiwick.

    Cielo Construction Company
I don?t know what could say it better than BEFORE and AFTER pictures: Cielo transformed our house!
This is our first house: we bought an 83 year-old fixer.  The previous owner didn?t do any upkeep, maintenance, repairs, or CLEAN for the 25 years he owned it.  Lots of duct tape, silicone, staples, nails, and string were holding up the previous owner?s special style of decoration and customization.  We had done all we were capable of doing on our own to the inside.  Plaster, paint, tile, electrical, plumbing and some flooring; but, we needed professional help with the outside of the house.
The outside looked SO bad, I saw the robot driving the google maps car pinching it?s nose when it drove by.  When friends would come over I would tell them to look for the haunted house on the right.  Now, with help from Nick and Sam at Cielo, our house looks amazing.
New windows and doors, new stucco, a new roof, some structural repairs to the porch, and lots of little details have given our house the overhaul we were hoping for.  Nick was in constant contact with us throughout the process so we knew what was accomplished everyday and what work would happen the next day.  He kept us informed of progress throughout, including when things like the windows and doors would arrive.  When the job was done, there were a few things we asked them to come back and touch up, and Nick made sure the touch ups were taken care of.

    Cielo Construction Company
Working with Alfi and Cielo construction was a great experience. Alfi listened to what I wanted to to with my space and was willing to work with my budget to give me the kitchen I really wanted, not just the same space reworked with slightly less cheap cabinets and fixtures than the ones I already had. After my budget was agreed upon Alfi didn't cut corners and just do the minimum code required. He went above good enough, and built a quality space beyond what is visible. This included supporting the now open kitchen with not only one over sized beam, but adding an additional beam perpendicular to level and tie in the ceiling over the old kitchen that was slightly sagging from age. This was all tied in to a new post and footer down through the floor to the foundation. All this structure was hidden in the ceiling and walls without the need for ugly bulkheads. Also, Instead of simply cutting out and replacing damaged sections of the old 1x10 subflooring, Alfi replaced it all with tongue and groove plywood subfloor. Later, When problems arose (as they will when opening up the walls in a 1926 house) Alfi and his team handled the termite and old water damage fully. They didn't try to patch up and cover over the damage. Ultimately, we decided to fully restructure all exterior walls in the kitchen and re stucco the out side. This was an extra cost of course but Alfi didn't use it as an opportunity to gouge me. The additional cost was very fair for the amount of extra work needed.
Throughout the project Alfi handled changes in stride and I never felt like if I wanted to move the sink a foot more to the left or something that it was a huge hassle. Alfi's motto is "I want you to be happy", and that is what he would always say when I would ask "Alfi, can we...?" Alfi would also suggest changes that seemed like more work but ultimately made the space better like moving and re sizing windows.
Also, Alfi has a great team he works with. The quality of their work is exceptional. Roberto and his brother who were two of the main guys on my project were fantastic. They did an excellent job of protecting the rest of my house and cleaning up every day when they were done for the day. Even if they were coming back to the same spot the next day they didn't just drop everything and bail. I was often at work during the renovation and not able to oversee the progress or simply be around for questions, but I never worried, and never had any problems trusting the crew.
Finally, and most importantly Alfi and Sam at Cielo construction are honest and trustworthy. Once we made a deal they stuck to it and the quote din't become this moving target. I will definitely be working with them again on future projects.

I got 7 or 8 estimates, and Eminent was the first.  Miron was by far the most professional.  He brought samples, didn't rush, explained everything in detail, and answered all my questions.  On top of that, his ended up being the lowest bid.  I couldn't believe how unprofessional some of the other companies were.  Many came by, looked at the project, and never sent me a bid.  It wasn't the biggest job, but Miron treated it like it was just as important as any other job, which I really liked.
His crew showed up on time and worked super efficiently.  They demo'd everything in one day.  They brought their own port a potty and were generally very clean and tidy.  The next day, they came back and installed pavers where I once had a hodge podge of gravel, partially exposed concrete, and a cracked walkway.  They cut the concrete, went along my irregular and custom fence borders, and everything looked great.  Miron was there every day to explain to them what I wanted and how everything should be done, and he texted me pics throughout the process.
At the end, he came back to go over everything with me and discuss any issues.  There were just a couple little things that needed to be adjusted.  I had also had them install a bocce ball court in my yard, which they had never done before.  They did a great job, but filled the court too high with the wrong material.  Miron had them come back (he was there too) and they fixed everything to my liking.  The back yard looks great.  I should also mention that I was having a party in two weeks from the day of the estimate, and Eminent was not only the lowest price and most professional, they were the only ones who were able to do the job on such short notice.
Highly recommend Miron and his crew for any landscaping/paving/hardscaping you might need.  This is what you want from a contractor.
