    Chapnick Smukler and Associate
They were my accountants when my business was doing very well and they were making a lot of money, then Jerry Chapnick passed away a couple of years ago, and his son took over. I dealt with Mr. Smukler, and the moment my business started to slow down, they started to give me the worst treatment ever. They didn’t file my corporate returns, and my corporation got suspended. They made erroneous filings, they filed taxes for the wrong year, and it was just horrendous. The IRS is not very forgiving, and these people filed the returns improperly. I was qualified to get a $15,000 refund, but because they filed the returns during the wrong period, it negated the return, and I ended up having to pay income tax. There was a change in the law last year, and he wasn’t aware of the change, which is unconscionable. I would urge everyone to stay away from them. When Jerry Chapnick was alive, everything was fine, and he was the backbone of the company. Coincidentally when he passed away, my business started to sway a little bit at the same time, I didn’t get good service, and they made a lot of mistakes. They didn’t file corporate returns, they made incorrect personal returns, and then they would never stand up to it. I called them and told them that I was getting letters from the IRS saying that the tax returns were incorrect, my corporate returns were not filed and my corporation has been suspended, and now I have to file again, and I have to pay penalties on top of it. Then they wouldn’t call me back, it was just like I had dropped off the face of the earth. They are probably guilty of some accounting practices crime, and I can probably sue them if I wanted to, but I am not a litigious person. I have now fired them, and I have found a new accountant. I absolutely would not recommend them to anybody.

We worked for many years with Aaron Barlev completing our taxes and things took a turn for the worst while filing our 2009 taxes. We had a meeting with Mr. Barlev at which time he reinforced that he does not charge for phone calls to him. We had many conversations and emails back and forth getting him the information needed to file our taxes. On Oct 15, 2010

we received a phone call from his office informing us that they could not file our taxes with our the efile form or payment. We had an extensive conversation with him at which time he said fax over the form and give them the credit card info for payment and they would file and we would then do an amendment because we found errors that needed to be corrected but it was to late to make the changes. There were emails and phone calls going back and forth about the corrections and amendment for months after. In Dec 2010 I had my assistant call the IRS to see if we were never filed. When we called Mr. Barlev's office he was on vacation and his office acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. It wook several weeks to get a phone call back at which time they said we got them the forms to late and they could not efile, this was news to us as we were never informed that this is what happened. There was alot of back and forth and after this was brought to flight we started receiving additional invoices for phone calls that were suppose to be free. We in all we paid $2750 to have our taxes prepared and filed by Mr. Barlev, then we started getting more invoices for phone calls. In the end we had to hire a new accountant to prepare and file or 2009 taxes which cost us another $1200. Our 2009 taxes were not filed until Feb 2011! Beware of this office as they are unorganized and unprofessional. You may not have your taxes filed and would neve know until the IRS is coming after you for unpaided taxes!!
