They did a very nice job.  They were local and did a nice job.  I had a follow up about a year later and they didn't return my call, so I'm not sure if they are still in business.  Quality was fine.

Absolutely outstanding in all phases of the job.  I could not be happier with the finished carport and the quality of the materials and workmanship.  Steve and Cindy were on top of everything, right from the beginning and to the finished product.  I live in a Homeowners Association with lots of rules and regulations, Steve and Cindy handled all permits and followed all regulations.  Job went smoothly, Steve always on the job with a full 8 hour day.  Communication was exceptional.  I have had many compliments from friends and neighbors on the carport.  I would not hesitate to use Hilltop Homes on any future construction improvements on my home and Would highly recommend their services to others.

Ryan popped up on my doorstep Wednesday, 6/18/2014, claiming  he had sealant left over from another job and could refresh my driveway which he had done less than eleven months previously. He observed that the cracks he originally repaired had reopened, and stated he had some "better stuff" to use as fill. Other than the cracks, which had opened up after only a few months, I noted that the driveway didn't look like it needed to be resealed so soon and questioned that. I told him I could not really afford it: my redwood deck needed urgent restaining, and that was the financial priority. He quickly volunteered to reseal the driveway, repair the cracks again, and stain the deck, all for what he charged last year for just the driveway. He said "This is your lucky day! My dad has stain left over from one of his jobs."  I mistakenly quoted him as having charged me $900 last summer, but after checking the original work order and receipt scanned into my computer, his fee had been $745. Nevertheless, we shook on $900. I am a retired school teacher living on one fixed income, and this sounded like a good deal. Ryan claimed he wished to "make things right," a reference to the original substandard fissure fill. He declared he would begin the next morning, Thursday, at 8:30 a.m.and would clear the deck of furniture and railing planters.
He rolled up the next morning with a helper two hours late. They completed the asphalt seal and crack repair. Both looked decent. He wanted to be paid the full $900. I inquired about the deck. He said the extra stain his father had was probably too red after all  for my taste. I had indicated the day before that I did not like the terra cotta tones I see all over our lake community, and he assured me that his dad's surplus was probably okay.  He then asked for additional funds to buy more suitable stain. I reminded him what we had agreed upon, and said I would split the payment: $600 now, and $300 after the deck had been stained. I was not inclined to give him any more money without seeing an itemized invoice and materials receipts. He whined, protesting  he had just put in "hundreds of dollars" of his own money (I thought that's what self-employed people do) and gone through umpteen gallons of sealant. I gave him his full payment and requested a receipt before he left. He nodded, shook my hand, and said to expect him Monday morning for the deck staining. They set up a makeshift barrier at the end of the driveway with tape attached to two empty tar buckets. They left.
I went ahead and cleared the deck of all furniture and planters. Ryan Gilliam failed to show. I have not seen nor heard from him in a week. I am listed in the telephone book, but received no telephone call. Finally figuring out he blew me off and fled into the breeze, I put everything back up onto the deck. Also, he stuck me with his hazardous waste containers. Bottom line: he failed to keep his word; did not do what he said he was going to do, thereby nullifying a verbal contract; never provided me with a receipt or any type of invoice; over billed for an inflated service that wasn't really necessary on the promise of providing one that was, and left non-biodegradable debris onsite for the me to dispose of, despite having since driven right by my house in his white pickup truck,  little black bucket in tow,  and the pails left by me right in plain view by the side of the road. My deck remains unstained.
I wanted to give an opportunity to a young entrepreneur rather than use the more mature, established asphalt company in town. So, if you are a retiree and elderly, living alone - especially a woman - caveat emptor  RG Asphalt! I own a large part of having gotten scammed because I did not trust my gut instincts. I'm educated, and should have known better. Never again!

A longtime Groveland resident, Doug is honest, thorough, prompt, and forthcoming. He knows how to perform a variety of home improvement and repair services, and does them very well. The long list includes, but is not limited to: installed a new screen door; planted pine trees; replaced a dead car battery; rebuilt and replumbed a laundry room following a pipe breach; put in new hot water heater and upgraded closet to include a drain pan; replaced old light fixtures with new ones all over the house; and replaced worn smoke alarms.
If  he does not have the skills or knowledge to perform a service, he will tell you honestly. He is neat, cleans up, personable, and has helped me out at least twice with flooding disasters. When he buys parts, he provides the receipts. You will receive an itemized bill, too. This is not a "casual" operation; he and his wife, Lynette, treat this as a bona fide business.
The thing I appreciate most is that Doug will show you "what's wrong," and then explain his plan to fix it. I'm often amazed by the sheer variety of things he knows how to do.
    I unhesitatingly recommend him.

I had a good experience with them. I moved so I haven't used them for over a year. I used them for as long as I lived in the house which was almost 2 years. I liked that they were diligent in coming. They are hard workers. Sometimes, they overbook so they might be a day or two later getting there than what they had originally planned but overall, I was very pleased with what they did.

As I mentioned, he did not apparently have the skill to include all of our boxes and things safely into his trailer. Half of the trailer was packed to the ceiling (as movers can safely do), the back half only had things sitting on the floor.  So now we have to go back with our own truck and horse trailer and get the rest of it.  I never dreamed he would not use all the space he had..

Joe insisted on being paid cash, despite his website's claim that he accepts checks. He insisted on receiving half of it when he arrived to load our things in Arizona, and REFUSED TO UNLOAD OUR THINGS UNTIL WE PAID HIM THE REST IN CASH!  WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE IF OUR THINGS WERE THERE AT ALL OR STILL IN ONE PIECE BEFORE WE HAD TO PAY HIM ALL THE MONEY!

He apparently can not use a real map, or an online mapping tool, or his smart phone map app, or a GPS tool, or the detailed directions that our daughter downloaded into his smart phone. He called the night before his arrival to get directions from the interstate highway, but he said he didn't have a pencil or pen. The next day he called from the local barber shop and said "Come and get me!"  Unfortunately he left that message at the phone that my husband had told him we were leaving and would not be there.  He did not try our cell phones, the numbers of which he had been given on several occasions.  At that point he was only two turns (and about 5 miles) away from our house. Luckily, the gate person for our gated community assessed his disability correctly and sent out a vehicle to lead him to our house.

When he arrived at our house, with the escort from our gated community, I asked if his dog wanted to have a run around our yard to give him a break from the confinement of the truck.  We got water for the dog and offered Joe water and the use of our bathroom. Our lot is a hillside, which I had told him about, but he was really concerned about it.  He did not seem comforatable with backing his trailer.

To give credit where credit is due,  he seems to have gotten everything transported safely, though I have been afraid to look very closely at my antiques. I hope that Joe and his dog, Jake, made it back to Phoenix safely.

This provider worked with our schedule to make the appointment and then installed 3 new screens. They can highly recommended and didn't disappoint. We plan on them replacing windows / glass in the near future. Their recommendations were quite helpful when deciding on the types of windows to install

On one of the hottest days this year we discovered our A/C was not working as well as the last time we used it, and of course it was Friday night. Groveland is a small community in the Sierra foothills on the road to Yosemite and there are few service providers closer than Sonora.
Not finding anyone anywhere near our area on Angie's List, on Saturday we checked on line and left messages for 3 different businesses.  Within an hour Jack Proctor returned our call. (No one else has called back today.) We explained the problem and he agreed to come out.  He was here within the hour with his truck, ladders, equipment and a helping hand..
Jack conducted a full service inspection, checked and cleaned the A/C condenser and did it all with a smile on his face.
My husband, an engineer, says "this guy really knows his stuff,"  and he rarely gives that kind of praise.
Jack Proctor is licensed and has been in business since 1975- moving to this area from Santa Cruz.  We were very glad to find him, and pleased with his work, his responsiveness, and his service.  We would recommend him to others and will call him again for Heating or A/C issues.

He was very prompt in answering my questions. I request him to do a number of handymen jobs for my rental out of state. I was unable to meet him before hiring him. My tenant had several tasks that needed to be handled and she needed to feel comfortable with the person doing them. She phone me afterwards to tell me how professional, helpful, and nice he was. He completed everything within a couple days even though he had another project going on.
