Door Installation reviews in Granite Bay

  • I called Northwest Exteriors to set up an appointment to get an estimate to convert a window to a French door.  I gave them all of my information and they asked if my husband would be present for the appointment.  This is not the first time I have been asked this by various trades people.  When I explained that my husband works long hours and that he would not be available for the appointment, the person on the phone said he would see if they would make an exception and get back to me.  I have done many renovations totaling over $500K per house so this small window to door conversion was a small task in my eyes.  To date, I have not gotten a call back from the company.  It's unfortunate that this organization requires my husband's approval in order to work with us.
I wonder if my husband had called in asking for an estimate if they would have required my presence at the meeting?

  • The technician arrived early.  He was there to repair a broken spring and replace it with a double spring.  When he looked at the door, he realized it was a single door and could not install a double spring.  I thought I mentioned it to the guy on the phone that it was a single door or maybe I didn't (I don't recall).
Here is where things get a little off.  Instead of reducing the price of the repair to a single spring, he proposes to add a reinforcement piece to the top of the door for the same price.  He said that it is normally more expensive than the double spring.  Knowing nothing about garage doors, I initially say yes after negotiating to lower the price slightly.  Ultimately, I change my mind and they were fine with reducing the price.  I was not sure whether I was being sold something unnecessary to keep the service cost the same.
The work itself went quickly and professionally.  The spring they installed was better than the old one.  He even added a little more tension when I told him I planned on installing insulation to the door.  He finished by lubricating not just the broken door but the other door as well.  Additionally, he did a quick adjustment to the other door that improved its movement.
Overall, I was happy with experience.

  • Brandon does excellent work.  My sliding glass door is very heavy and very old.  The rollers were old and out of date so he had to manufacture new ones.  The job also required the removal and re-installation of wood shutters.  He removed a huge old ceiling florescent light fixture in the kitchen, hauled it away, and rewired and installed recessed lights.  He repaired and painted the ceiling so that the change is undetectable. He also was able to solve the problem of converting from gas to electricity for a new oven at a very reasonable cost and install the oven perfectly fitted into the old space.  He is excellent at clean up.  Never left a mess and hauled every thing away. He was always willing to do a few extra small jobs will working on the bigger jobs.  Brandon is the first person I call whenever I need something done around the house, big or small.  He does quality work at a reasonable price.  The next job I have planned for Brandon is to repair an old wood deck.  There were a few scheduling problems, however, if I needed something done by a certain date, he always finished the project on time.

  • I was given advice about the best way to deal with a garage door that has been damaged. The pros and cons were discussed. Dylan educated me about the different products the company uses and what I could expect. I was given a bid for potential future service.

  • Ed Holliday was very thorough in his explanation of the products he used for the windows and siding.  The job was completed in sections due to landscaping that needed to be complete before the siding install and backordered entry door that we ordered.  The crew for both the window installation and the siding were great and accommodating. We are very happy with the product and the installation.

  • The process was the best renovation experience and that was exclusively due to Mark and his crew's superb ability to get the job done right. They are polite, courteous, punctual and kept our home clean while they did the job. We continue to be impressed with the level of workmanship and quality of service provided. We are extremely happy with the level of quality and value that was provided by Customworks. I would absolutely use Customworks again and recommend Mark and his crew to anyone looking for a small or a whole house remodel. And, just as important as the high quality of service and craftsmanship was the excellent price and value provided by Mark. His prices were significantly less than any other company we interviewed. An "A" rating is not high enough.....
AAA+++ ! Thanks for a great job and an enjoyable experience, Mark !

  • The entire job from start to finish was excellent.  Matt Stevenson let us know exactly when the windows and doors would be ready for installation and worked with our schedule to make everything work.  The french doors and windows are a beautiful white color and overall they are what be expected and more.  They have lifetime warranties on everything.  You can't beat that! Most other companies had limited warranties at best. The windows and doorsare the most energy efficient ones you can buy today. They also are excellent at reducing outside noises.  Since we backup to a busy street this was very important for us.  The french doors in the master bedroom required stucco work to be done at the end.  This work was done so well you can't tell from the new parts to exisitng.  Overall, all the work was done by highly trained professionals who always cleaned up afterwards.  Great Job!!

  • The owner Aaron first came over and took the measurements for each window and then after a couple of weeks a worker came over and installed all the window screens and the door. Very professional work, excellent service and prompt response.
Have already recommended them to a friend.

  • The project was to start in late April 2011 and be done by the end of August 2011. They job was finalized and accepted in early August. Steve performs almost all of the work himself with his own crew. They did the roofing, framing, finish carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing work. They used subcontractors to perform the tiling, drywall and carpet. Steve was always very punctual showing up about 8:00 AM and leaving about 5:00 PM. If they were not going to show up on a day, they would let us know. We were going to lose access to a kitchen during the construction. They did as much work as possible before gutting the old existing kitchen. We were only 9 weeks without a kitchen. They did a great job in getting the kitchen back to working order as quickly as possible. Steve performing the majority of the work with his own crews allows him to better control the schedule of the project. The subcontractors he used were also very prompt and worked diligently. We felt completely comfortable with all the individuals who worked on the construction of our home. Steve performed the job as he told us in the beginning. We had a few minor items that needed to be fixed within the one year warranty period. When we called Steve about the items he immediately came out to look at the problems. Within a matter of a few weeks, he corrected the problems. This shows that Steve will stand behind his work and make sure that it is acceptable. We would use SBC Contractors in the future. We used him to remove and replace two original toilets (1973) in our other two bathrooms. He was very helpful in telling me how to get refunds from the local water company as we were getting newer more efficient toilets. We are getting a $250 credit on our water bill for these new toilets.

  • Paul came by for the estimate and was very helpful in describing the issues we had with several doors that were not sealing correctly. We are very happy with the new door and the function of the new handset and deadbolt. They also did a great job on replacing the weather stripping on the second door.
