AAA Chimney Sweep & Fire Protection Co
They did a pretty good job. He was thorough, but he made a couple of mistakes. There was a technical part of the job where you don't sweep the chimney. You don't put the cleaner in, it will be more hurtful to put the cleaner in, then to start it up and let the black stuff go out. The smoke go out. I let him start it. Everything was in good conditions, it just hasn't been running in twenty years. When he started, black smoke went around the neighborhood. More like dust. Black dust. It sometimes carries a little bit, and everybody has a pool. It got in their pool. He sold me a sparker rector. It was avid. I had the money to purchase it, and he installed it for a $100. Its a dangerous job, you get on top of the roof, on top of the chimney, and use your power tools. Its harder than average. I got a good grade. A good certificate. It last a few more years. He was right on time. He was responsive. He started it up and the light was in the thing that was connected in the wall. The flames were in the lamp he had in there. A mechanic lamp. I had somebody plus my mom that is a 100 years old. Nothing happened. By the time we got talking to each other, I bought a fire extinguisher. Safety prep. It was a good price by the way. They certified the chimney.

I was extremely disappointed. The salesman was really nice but the work was less than desirable. It wasted a whole lot of money. I showed them the tile I wanted and I described what I wanted. He showed me a picture of the tile. When it got there, it didn't look right. He used ceramic tile instead of a slab. He said he was going to use the slab. It was a wavy tile and it's light. It's ceramic. The second thing was he asked what we wanted over the mantel. We didn't get a mantel because he didn't think a mantel would look right and he was right. We wanted the TV above the fireplace. The guy came to the house and we bought the TV. They put the tile up and made a hole. They had it in the wrong place. My husband assisted on fixing it. He put the TV upside down. He said they did it as a courtesy and they've never done it before. The third thing that really ticked me off was that they had to take the curtains down and the curtains have those rings that you open and close the curtains. When they put it back up, it's just hanging loose. They didn't even have the decency to put the curtain rod on. The pricing was good. The work was shoddy.

The appraiser said there wasn't enough room for a fireplace. He told me that 18K BTU fireplace  unit which is supposed to heat 600 square feet would not heat my room. Please note my room is 321 square feet. I asked about different sized fireplaces. He said the two different size fireplaces gave out the same amount of heat. He went on to walk out a 10X6 area and tell me that it was 600 square feet. Please note that I used a different company and  the city approved the fireplace. I am not sure why this man misinformed me but I definitely wouldn't use this company for anything.

I sent a message via Angie's List with pictures and dimensions of the mantle we wanted. Ralph responded with a very honest answer. He said he didn't have much experience with the materials we were looking for and referred us to another company. That honesty is very much appreciated. It tells me that Ralph cares about our homes and respects exactly what we want.

    Super Clean BBQ
Once the guy finished his work, I for a second thought that he just installed new BBQ instead of cleaning ours. :)
It was sparkling new, and you can easily think that it was brand new. Very good job!
I only wish that they also would be able to fix some issues with gas burners, but unfortunately they only clean and do not fix.

    Nexxus Remodeling Inc
A repeat call to an Angie's List persona.
We saw an Angie's List ad for a roofer and  it reminded us that our roof was "kind of aging," and we thought we may have to replace it. Since we really liked the work that Nexxus Remodeling did for us in 2013, we thought we'd give Tony Panterra the owner a call.  The next day, a roofer was climbing up on our roof and giving it his professional once over.  He found our roof to be in very good condition but needed a few fixings (see what did the provider do above.)  And on 7/02/14, the work was done!  So call made 6/30/14: inspected 7/01 and work completed 7/02/14.  PRETTY FANTASTIC!
Of course we really won't know if any leaks will happen until it rains. (So in Southern California we may not know for a very, very long time. But Nexxus Remodeling/Tony Panterra did quality and beautiful work for us before, therefore, we have no qualms about this current job.  In fact we're pretty pleased. Thank you very much (and he states that he backs up his work, when and if necessary.  It has never been necessary for us).

Fiddler On The Roof Chimney Service
I needed my chimney sealed and repaired and Jorge from fiddler did a
good job. There was one hiccup when they completed the job the first
time and I asked to look at the video to make sure all the cracks had
been sealed. As it turned out, not all of them were sealed, so I asked
them to go back up and finish the job. They needed to come back several
times to finish but they were diligent to finish completely.

    The Chimney Experts Inc
The person showed up late and had took a while to send me the estimate. Aside from that, He was very knowledgeable and pleasant, He explained everything in detail and showed me the problems areas. He answered all my questions easily and eloquently. Unfortunately, the estimate was more that i could afford at the time

I received estimates from several contractors, but was impressed with Wilf's knowledge and his price was the best by far from some of the other contractors.  He could have rebuilt the chimney with the original brick -- was able to obtain a permit to do so -- but I opted for the bond beam because our area is in the earthquake zone.  He was highly recommended not only by Angie's List but also by a couple of real estate agents who had used him for their clients and their own residences.
His work was professional and completed on time.  I would highly recommend him.  Be sure to check him out before signing a contract with someone else.

Fiddler On The Roof Chimney Service
We have had trouble with our glass and metal fireplace screen staying in it's bolted place for a long time.  Last Christmas it fell over while guests were trying to hang up their stockings on Christmas Eve.  This year we wanted it to be fixed and avoid the chaos.  We called Fiddler on the Roof after seeing it on Angie's List. My first contact with the company was with Rayna who answered the phone.  She was very nice and professional.  She took down the information and we set up a time.  She told me in advance who would be doing the work and that they would call 20 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive to let us know.  I liked that. Omar Saenz arrived within our appointment window and came equipped with shoes slippers and a huge blanket to protect the carpet.  Really appreciated that.  We have  sand colored wall to wall carpeting in our livingroom.  We descirbed what had happened and he took a look at all the parts we had and had the whole thing attached and back in place very firmly in about 30 minutes.  He, also, was very professional and pleasant. The price was excellent for all the service we received. So glad that we can cross that repair off our list before the holiday season this year.
