    HandyMan Terry

Terry was quick to contact me to schedule service after I purchased the deal on Angie's List which gave me confidence this would a reliable individual.  On the day of the service, Terry was punctual and got to our home at 930am as we agreed.  I showed him the fence that required immediate attention.  He informed me he would need to replace a couple of the boards and would need to get the materials from home depot.  I asked if perhaps I needed to pay for a brand new fence. He said depending on the length and such, it may have been a custom made fence, not one we could just purchase off the shelf.  I joked I asked because our side fence looked exactly like our neighbors fence which was right next to ours. He asked me to tell him what else I had in mind that needed to be repaired because he would pick up any needed items on the same trip. I walked him around the house and showed him the area by the electrical panel that needed stucco to be redone, the electrical outlets in the family room that needed to be replaced, the areas in the house we had the carpet replaced with laminate flooring that needed binding/transitions to be put in.  Terry informed me he had an appointment in Pasadena at 12 noon so he would need to leave by 1130am. I told him that was okay as long as the fence was done because the city was coming by to inspect the completion of the repair that next day. This was something I had shared with Terry when scheduling the service date.  I asked what would happen to the time paid for from Angie's deal.  He said he would credit me the time for another date.

I had to leave for an appointment at 1030am which Terry was aware when we first scheduled the appointment because he said I didn't have to be there the whole time.  At this time, Terry had gotten back from Home Depot and as I was walking out of the house to leave, Terry showed me an outdoor outlet which needed to be better positioned and covered.   I told him we could add that onto a list and review later.  I also gave him a partial payment for the cost of the board he purchased since I didn't have too much cash on me. Terry inquired if there were outdoor outlets he could use if needed. I was in a rush to leave and told him I was not sure, but I could leave the door unlock for him.

When I came back home a bit pass 1pm, I was disappointed.  The only difference to the fence I saw was there was a new board.  The fence was still not closing properly and there was morning glory pulled from our fence on our neighbors side of the yard.   I cleaned up the mess from our neighbors yard and I told myself well at least the board was replaced and I was sure since that was the only thing done, Terry may had left earlier than he expected so I would call to schedule another appointment to get the fence completely repaired since we had paid for a 3 hour service.

But I walked into the house and on the counter of our kitchen was an invoice noting that 3 hours of labor was provided and I still owed $3.57 for the materials.

I called Terry. He answered and was polite enough and even offered to credit us 2 hours of service towards replacing the fence which he said would have to be done to correct the fence not closing properly.  He said that would require two people. If that was the case, I would have appreciated that information was provided to me at the beginning.  So, at the end I paid $135 for 3 hours of service for a board to be replaced for our side fence.

After discussing the situation over with my husband, we have decided we would take the amount paid as a lesson rather than utilize Terry's service again since we could not trust the quality of the work nor was confident we would be provided with accurate details related to the work.

I am a bit more weary about utilizing Angie's List to sought out services due to this bad experience.

    L T Concrete

Lupeni did a great job pouring a concrete driveway and building a retaining wall for our backyard.  The team was very professional, on time, courteous and cleaning up the area each night until the work was complete.  His suggestions of how to configure the wall turned out much better than the way I had envisioned.  What a difference that wall made for my backyard.  The driveway made my house look very appealing and was done very well.   Lupeni was there each day overseeing the crew, attentive to every detail.  His work is high quality with very reasonability priced.  It was the hottest days of the year and the crew worked hard, never complaining.  My son has also had work done by this company and is very pleased as well.

    Stump Fence Co.
They installed very nicely.  All the chain are lined up strait and looks very good.  They dug out very deep to secure posts strong.
Terry came on time for estimate and installer came on time as it was scheduled.
It was little costly even with Angies' List's 10% off coupon, but their work is very good and completed in 1 1/2 days.

    UNITED FENCE
Came on time for the quote. Frank showed pictures of different types of gates. Price seemed reasonable and since I was going to be home for the holidays, decided to go with United if they could install while I was off. That was at 4:30 pm Wednesday. Called late Thursday afternoon and said they would be out at 8am.
They came a little early but no big deal. Showed them the old gate and how it was suppose to swing and the workers went right to work. Finished in a little over an hour. I came out to check the progress and asked them if they were going yo fill the old post holes with cement. They said that it wasn't mentioned, but they had an opened bag and they would do it. In less than 10 minutes they had the holes filled and had me inspect the work. It was just fine. They even hauled away the old gate. The workers said to call them if anything became loose. I believe they would come. Frank and his two workers were very polite did their job and the new gate looks great

The work went off very well.  They were on time, did a good job, and it is a nice fence.  They were very professional and we were very happy.  They do a high quality job, they were on time, and they met the budget.
