Veterinarian reviews in Glendale

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We have two cats and my girlfriend uses Dr. Sonata. I think she loves them, so I would probably give them A's all around. I've never heard her complain; I know she likes the doctor quite a bit and likes the clinic a lot.

  • They are pricey. They are very loving with my pet. The professionalism of the vets and the professionalism of the front office staff keeps me coming back. Everything is by appointment and it is usually 1-2 days wait time for an appointment.
    - Sam E.
  • They've been great. I think they have boarding services which I've used when it concerns a hospital stay. They are convenient, they have a good attitude and they do positive work. I spent a little over $100.

  • If I could give zero stars, I would. . .  I have had pets for decades and experience with several veterinary clinics and this place by far is the most unprofessional.  My perception is that this place is primarily interested in cultivating revenue rather than animal health care.
Our primary care veterinarian accidentally dispensed Methocarbamol instead of Metronidazole for my dog's diarrhea.  It was Sunday and my regular veterinarian?s office was closed so I called Animal Specialty Group and explained the situation.  The lady who answered the telephone told me that there would be a $90.00 fee and I was fine with that (money isn?t a concern).
When I arrived they took my dog promptly and I met with the veterinarian, Dr. Amelia Anderson.  I showed documentation from the previous day?s vet, explaining the prescription error (I am a pharmacist).  She seemed to understand and quickly returned with an estimate of almost $600.00 for my dog?s diarrhea.  Being vulnerable and loving my dog, I agreed for her to move forward.  Three hours later (with my dog in the back, who I heard crying) I inquired at the front desk.  After my persistence, I met Dr. Anderson in a back room.  She tried to convince me that my dog needs to stay overnight and denied me the medication (Metronidazole) that I originally came for.  I persisted and she said she will give me the medication I need.  I then waited for almost an hour longer and still nothing.  I eventually pressed the front staff and they reluctantly returned my dog with the medication I had to press for with a bill of over $400.00.
I spoke with other individuals in the waiting room who also expressed concern over this clinic?s ethics but also felt vulnerable to the circumstances (of not having anywhere else to go).
Bottom line:  there are other ?emergency veterinarians? in the Los Angeles area other than this one.  My perception is that the veterinarian on duty (Dr. Anderson) is inexperienced and pressured to turn a profit.   I will definitely not be returing.

  • It was my first time visiting. They provided a great service and comforted the dog. The vet was good. The office was well kept and quite pleasant. The staff was very friendly. I did not have any problem getting in to see the vet.

  • The service went well for our first visit. The staff was nice and professional. They were also reasonable and knowledgeable about what was going on with my dog. They knew what options were available which match up with my research. They had a nice and clean facility. It was very easy to schedule an appointment with them. I did not have to wait long to be seen and they took the time necessary with the dog. I plan on taking my cat in as well.

  • I always ended up going back to him.  It seems he is pretty good.  The last time I liked it up to a point, but they did not recognize the severity of her condition and I had to take her out from there because she was screaming and yelling and I had to take her to another emergency and she died that night.  She was only 5 years old and I don’t know if it was her heart.  But I don’t want to go back there.  He misdiagnosed her.  It is a clean facility and he takes dogs and cats, it is small and the ladies are helpful.  It seemed he diagnosed everything right at first but he ignored the way she was screaming and yelling because that is not how she normally behaves and I knew that something is wrong with her.  I always try to find the best and all vets are expensive.
    - Shirley B.
  • I've known some of the owners, Kim and Ben, for over 15 years. I will never go anywhere else. The front office is handled properly and the vet techs are respectful of the owners and their pets. I always thought the people who are vets or work at a vets do it for the love of the animals, but I was corrected. They do it for the love of the owners.
They don't have a lot of parking spaces, but there is street parking and I've parked at Trader Joe's, next door, if I'm just picking something up.
This office helps out the community by finding homes for animals found in the area. Their website is always showing a pet looking for their forever home.

  • For years, I have been searching for a good veterinarian with reasonable prices. I think I have finally found one! Actually, more than one. My cats have been treated by two different vets there, and both were friendly and compassionate.

  • Backstory:  Dr. Sandy has been our veterinarian for six years.  I found her when our previous vet gave up on our 15-year-old cat, Henry, after he was diagnosed with chronic renal failure (CRF).  She is a holistic practitioner and takes great care when prescribing allopath medicine.  I was willing to go to great lengths to give Henry good quality of life.  Primarily using a holistic approach, Henry's kidney numbers normalized and he was with us for five more years with real quality of life.  When it was time to say goodbye, Dr. Sandy was gracious, compassionate, and loving.  She grieved with me as she had come to love Henry, too.  She truly cares about the animals entrusted to her.
Last year, my husband and I adopted my niece's cat, DeNiro.  We had Dr. Sandy come for a thorough examination; he had dental issues, and we wanted a good baseline regarding his overall health.  He is 9-years-old and we wanted guidance about food changes, etc., to take him into his senior years.  He only needed one vaccine update, but had two teeth that needed to be extracted.  She recommended an ultrasound to be sure his kidneys were healthy enough for anesthesia (blood work doesn't reveal everything one needs to know), and a vet who specializes in feline/canine dentistry.  I coordinated the appointments so she could meet me at the veterinary facility to give DeNiro his vaccine, rather than have me book another appointment with her for just that.  She stayed to observe the ultrasound and for the consultation with the dentist.  She asked questions that I forgot to ask, and I was so grateful for her presence.  I felt very confident about the upcoming dental work.
DeNiro's dental surgery was successful on every level and he is recovering beautifully.  I will write glowing reviews for the other vets and the facility separately.
Dr. Sandy is a mobile vet, and the extra cost may be out of range financially for some.  She has always been considerate of any financial issues and, without judging or guilt-tripping, has guided us in making the best decisions possible to maximize and prioritize our feline healthcare dollars.  She never forgets that our cats are members of our family, and she approaches every issue regarding their care and well-being with kindness and clarity.  Dr. Sandy is a skilled and intuitive vet and I praise respect every aspect of her practice.
