The mark of a good company is not how they handle things when everything goes right, but how they handle things when things go wrong. I live in a 100 year old house, and old houses have surprises. On two occasions, my house gave Alpha a little more than they were expecting, and both times, they stepped up and proved why they have the reputation they do. The first time, the footing under my kitchen was undermined, and they intended to put two concrete pads in to fix it. When they realized their initial plans to fix it weren't quite sufficient, they brought out one of their in house engineers, and they built Fort Knox (in a good way) under the kitchen. The kitchen of my house is probably the most secure part of my house now. It will survive the Apocalypse. Then, they were contracted to fix the the stairs in the back of my property. The side of the stairs was separating from the stairs themselves, and Alpha was contracted to replace the wall. But when they removed it, they found the the old stairs there were just a thin layer of concrete over loose rock, which spilled out undermining them. It's something they never could have seen or known from the outside. Mark, one of the bosses of the company came out and looked at it, and had them replace the entire stairs, which now look amazing and are very safe for my children. I also can't say enough how on top of it the people were. Dieter, their supervisor, was amazing. He stopped by frequently to make sure everything was on track and up to standards. You'd hear him pulling up on his motorcycle, and if you had questions, he'd talk through everything that was going on with you. (And be very patient with you about the questions.) When there were job hiccups, he just let me know that they had it under control and was unflappable. He always told me things were going to be fine, and then took care of it. His crews were professional, considerate, hard working, and polite. If you get any of the guys I had, you're in good hands: -Oscar and Marlon did an amazing job on the kitchen underpinning, bolting, and sheerwalling my basement. -Gregorio, Jonathan, and Henry were excellent, and replaced my stairs. (And Gregorio, in particular, is an artist with cement.) Both crews made me realize how consistently good the quality of the work done by this company is. I highly recommend Alpha, especially if you work with any of these crews.

My mom's a general contractor/homebuilder back in Florida, and she came out to help us with the work. She LOVED Ramin. She said "That guy is GOOD." That's high praise coming from her. Ramin was called out to consult on two different questions, but my Mom, being the perfectionist she was, asked him a million questions, and he wasn't put out at all, he was lovely and knowledgeable, and told her some really smart stuff. She was impressed, and so was I.

The Foundation Works is a very professionally run company. I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience. It began with a 7-page report by Kent Romero that summarized the findings of his inspection of my property. It detailed the repairs and retrofit upgrades, the city permitting process, the cost and payment schedule. It also included recommendations for work that were outside the scope of their services. The cost included the services of a structural engineer to oversee the prescription for my particular building. Kent answered all my questions and explained everything in a way that I could understand. I was having other work done to my property at the same time so Foundation Works was very flexible in scheduling the work to coordinate with my needs. I really liked the way the company handled all the permit and inspection aspects, as well as the guaranteed sign-off from the city prior to the final payment. Anthony, the work foreman, was a very polite and responsible guy. The crew arrived on time every day, left the work site super clean, and completed the job on schedule. The office staff also were very friendly and responsive. This was the most painless experience I've ever had working with a contractor.

The bid was double that of another reputable contractor.  It was for an 1800 sq. ft. 1931 home with no complications involved; easy access to the crawl space etc.  I was surprised that it was so high because other Angies List clients have shared their costs for this classic earthquake remediation work, and very few bids are this high unless they are doing other work.  They also found an alleged "crack" in the corner that they wanted $1200 more to "fix".  Just a rip off, in my opinion.  I can only assume that they have more work than they can handle.  Their excuse (my lower bid contractor works without workers comp because he works alone) is not sufficient too justify their inflated bid.  Buyer beware.

Shay explained everything that needed to be done step by step. He provided recommendations on how we could prevent any further damage to the foundation of our house. He provided an estimate and a contract up front of what needed to be done with a timeline. He walked us through the entire process of getting a permit and how to prepare us for the duration of the project. He not only fixed the foundation but he also placed an exterior concrete path along the perimeter of the house to ensure no more water damage would occur. He is very courteous and respectful of our time and our needs and he is very knowledgeable. He knew exactly was codes needed to be followed and what materials were needed at all times. I would highly recommend Shay to anyone that needs concrete work done.

I have not yet moved forward on my foundation work, due to other projects taking priority. But I found my experience working with Alpha very positive through the process of having them come look at my foundation and make suggestions and give me an estimate for bolting my foundation and lowering some high spots in my raised foundation in an 80 year old home. Their estimate was similar in dollar amount to another company that gave me estimates.
I had once before had Alpha come out and look at another foundation, a slab, on a home I almost bought two years ago. I was equally satisfied with their professionalism and expertise then as I am now.
If/when I move forward on foundation work, Alpha will be on the list of finalists.

While I didn't have any work done by Seismic Safety, I enjoyed working with them from beginning to end. Dave Johnson came out on short notice, was on time and professional, and answered followup questions via email. I sent his report to an architect I know out of town, who told me it was detailed and the quote was reasonable. I would definitely call them again.

Project was textbook. Bid was competitive, and crew was courteous and efficient. They started work on the day we took possession of the home, and finished 4 days later. Permit process was quick, and the work was signed off on first inspection. Communication with their office was friendly and professional. I would use them again without hesitation.

Weinstein did an ABSOLUTELY wonderful job! I would use them again anytime. I recommended this company to family and friends and they have all been 100% satisfied with all of work they have done. The professionalism of the company and its workers is well above other contractors I have dealt with. Their quality of work is top notch and the pricing is competitive, fair and below what other companies would charge for the same quality of work. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely suggest you use them for the work you need done. Another happy Weinstein customer!

I originally was getting bids on replacing windows, replacing stucco, and removing popcorn ceilings.   I had also mentioned that I thought I had a problem with the foundation since I felt that house was no longer level.  I had received two other bids from different contractors.  However, when I mentioned potential problems with the foundation, no attention was given to the issue.  Y.O.R.  Construction happened to call and ask if I needed any remodeling etc. to be done.  I decided to go ahead and have them come out and give me a bid.  Kobe (owner) asked when I would like to schedule an appointment.  I gave a date convenient for me (a couple of days) and Kobe was prompt in coming to the appointment.  I told him all that I wanted done and the bid was less than the previous bids.  I also told him that I thought I had a problem with the foundation.  Unlike the other two companies, he immediately called one of his managers to come over and look at the raised foundation.  This was impressive.  Kobe was the only contractor that listened to what was said.  The foundation needed to be worked on.  We agreed that it needed to be repaired.  He called an engineer that came the next day and agreed that worked needed to be done.  He gave me an cost estimate, less than a week passed and we had a city permit for the work and the cost was what he had stated.

The impressive part about  Kobe is that he explains everything, gives alternatives, saves you money where he can and met the code requirements and more. Checks on the work almost everyday, he may have missed two days out of the 2 1/2 weeks of talks and construction.  Very professional, does not insist on having the contract signed on the spot.  He gives you time to decide without being pushy.   I was also comfortable with him, as opposed to the other two individuals from the other companies.
The crew that worked on my house were prompt , polite, worked hard.
I will use them for my stucco, windows etc.
