Door Installation reviews in Glendale

  • Chris is a true craftsman. He made sure that everything was perfect, and he did the work at a price that substantially beat two well-regarded competitors. Both window/doors are now perfectly clear and they move smoothly for the first time since we purchased the home a year ago.

  • This is the second time I asked Mike to do work for our house. I keep adding more tasks to him every time he visits the house. He is polite, very professional and always gives a fair price. I have asked for quotes from other handyman and nothing beats Mike's quality work and fair pricing. He will come whenever he says he will and will not leave you hanging.

  • Nir at Fine Builders was expert, thorough, methodical, timely, truthful, and polite right from the first meeting that we had, during all of his teams work and much more after the remodeling job was completed. Nir was very helpful during the work and he carried all the information he needed in order to have our project on the best side and he was reachable for any question, concern and even support when we had something that we were unsure of. Outstanding correspondent and a professional person of his word. Fine Builders will be our first contact for any future remodeling projects.

  • We initially inquired about a sliding glass door replacement. It turned out Mr. Gino Henn is an all-around contractor and we ended up hiring him for a complete remodeling of our house interior from kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living room, attic insulation, new sewer line installation, etc. and the whole nine yards. He started demolition on day one and works progressed very efficiently and methodically and completed on-time and earlier than expected in a little over 30 days. He closely supervised every aspect of the job and used specialists in every field from electrician, plumbers, tile installer, painters, flooring installers, etc. He was on the job site almost daily, checking his workers and the quality of their work. He reported to us too on an almost daily basis and addressed our issues and concerns. He was an involved and hands-on contractor and attended to every details ans aspects of our house renovation. He put all his heart and energy to his job and an exceptional rarity in his profession. He does superior quality work in all aspects of construction. We highly recommend him and his company.

  • The actual installation was excellent, the only downside to the entire experience was the salesman, first he measured the doors incorrectly showing that they were standard size, and quoted a price, but when the actual technician arrived and measured again he came up with a different size which changed the doors from being "standard" to "custom", so the price increased by $2500. Then the salesman told me he would be on hand when the installation was being done, but he never showed up, nor did he even bother calling. But I'm extremely pleased with my new doors, the crew that did the installation couldn't have been more professional and courteous.

  • My saga with this disreputable company began in July 2011. The sales representative who sold me the job and the installer named Robert were prompt and professional, but that is the only positive comment I can make about this company. And, as for the product, Magic Windows have a nice feature of a hidden screen, which we really like. Our nightmare began three years after the installation, when I found out from the City of Glendale that the job had never been inspected and that the building permit was about to expire. I scheduled the inspection and was horrified to learn that the windows did not pass inspection because they had internal grids which is a violation of the City's Residential Window Replacement Design Guidelines. On our contract, the installation note says to check with the City for any permit or restrictions. Clearly, the company failed to check on restrictions, or just ignored them. Like the experience of many other reviewers, I have called dozens of times over months, and now years, with no resolution to the problem. Now the City is threatening to file criminal charges against us, the homeowners, for violating the Municipal Code. PHR finally agreed to pay for a new building permit, but they want us to pay for all the replacement glass without grids. The violation was completely due to PHR's failure to follow the City's guidelines, so we feel they should be responsible for rectifying the situation to comply with the permit and to get the windows approved. The contract also states that there is a Lifetime Warranty on Atrium/Magic Windows and Doors. Five of the 8 windows now leak--one so badly that I have to put down chamois cloths and buckets when it rains--causing damage to the wooden sills and the plaster around the window frames and on the walls below the windows. I have called numerous times to get the leaks repaired. A few months ago, the company sent someone out to see the damage and to take pictures of the grids, but that visit only resulted in PHR agreeing to pay for the new building permit. I filled out a formal Service Request in April 2017 according to PHR's procedures, and have never been contacted to set up an appointment to get the warranty work completed. The other maddening aspect of dealing with this company has been reported in other reviews: aggressive sales calls, but absolutely no service. I have received telephone calls, ostensibly from the warranty department of PHR with an offer to do an "inspection" of the windows, because "you know, they have a lifetime warranty". As soon as I mention that yes, I would like an inspection because the windows are leaking, I have been referred to some other department that never returns my call. It becomes clear after a few minutes of talking with the caller that the service call is really a ruse to sell additional windows. This year, we made the appointment with the "warranty department" caller, and a young man came to the house. He was, in fact, a sales guy, a very nice, personable young man who was completely blindsided because he thought he was on a sales call for a previous customer, and what he got from us was the whole litany of installation problems, building code violations, and poor or non-existent service. He made phone calls to his office and to the owner (in San Diego?) to plead our case, but apparently was unsuccessful in making any better progress than we had. I have now read all the reviews on Angie's List and Yelp. I cannot believe that Angie's List shows PHR's score as an A under window replacement when most of the reviews are extremely negative. Believe every word of the negative reviews.

  • It was beyond excellent, BMO construction services and knowledge set such a high bar in perfection and attention to details that no other contractor can even come close. I am an engineer myself who is extremely picky and loves watching the work while it is done, not too many contractors like that and Mike passed with flying colors even with my extreme pickiness. The finish on everything he did from tile work, to flooring to painting was like a picture glued on the walls and floors, his tile work is out of this world, the grout lines are even more square than a straight edge. He is a contractor who not only pays attention to details but also loves doing the work himself including plumbing, electrical, tile, cabinetry, there is nothing he can't do or know. His subs. for hardwood flooring and painting were excellent too. Actually, his painter Yota was a magician than a painter, I called him Michael Angelo. With Mike you actually get a real licensed contractor who does the work himself and stays with you all day, he is very selective since he does one job at a time, he is not the type of a contractor like what you get in these big colorful advertisements in magazines, where they show up 7:30 AM just to drop 2 guys to do the work and you don't get to see him again until 5 PM. Mike is there with you on every big and small, not only doing it himself but advising you and warning you on what needs to be done. I must have interviewed a dozen of contractors for my project over a 12 months period before I decided to go with BMO. I waited for Mike at least 3 months because I am a construction engineer myself and have dealt with many contractors and I knew what type of contractor Mike was from the first time we met and decided that no one else would fit my picky and high finish standards. All these big colorful ads in remodeling magazines are big scams, as in most of them you really not calling the contractor himself, they are just a telephone service taking down your details just to send you a sales rep. who is trained to pursued you in signing a contract, like a used car salesman by showing you all these wonderful pictures of previous work and you think this is great this is my dream prince contractor who is going to work on my remodeling, you are very wrong, once you sign the contract and he gets his commission you will never see him again. When the construction actually starts the real contractor or a supervisor finally shows up only to drop a construction crew in the morning and they briefly get directions for that day and off he goes to another job, you don't see him back until 4:30 pm. During that time no one is actually supervising the work or all the corner cuts and the sub standard work that is being done. With Mike he is there all the time because he is doing it himself or supervising his subs. If you have a project don't hesitate a second to call mike, he is worth waiting for and deserves every single penny he asks for because he will give you your dream finish and well engineered product, he checks and double checks everything. Most importantly, he started on time and finished before the contracted time, he even came back after the contract was over and been paid in full to repeat some fishing touches that he was not happy with, they looked fine to me but he wouldn't let it go. He is even more perfectionist than me which my wife couldn't believe such person ever existed. Thanks Mike, Miguel and Yota for all the hard work and for putting up with my extreme pickiness!!

  • The project went very smoothly. Butel gave us an accurate price quote with a progress payment schedule at the beginning of the project. We changed a few things throughout the project but we essentially came in on budget. The quality of the work was great. We had a couple things that needed to get fixed a few weeks after the project finished and Butel was very responsive and quick to fix them at no additional charge.

  • JVP construction did a great renovation work from start to end. Wonderful craftsmanship and extra attention to all details. The project manager (Shawn) and his people kept all the working space clean during the entire remodeling project (6 weeks). They were also very responsive which made us not worried about any problem or question that we had. Shawn brought in his own electrician and plumber which we knew that not many construction companies have that. This allowed Shawn to have an extra control and on the quality of the overall work. The price that we paid was completely fair and reasonable. We knew the price of each material and labor at the beginning of the remodeling project and we had no surprises or hidden costs at the end of the work. Our project was completed on time and without any delay. All the workers worked straight and full days until the remodeling was completed. Shawn was also able to provide us with a schedule and timeline at the beginning of the remodeling project which proved to be accurate. We had our kitchen and master bathroom done by JVP construction and we will hire them again next time we need to have any remodeling done at our house! We would highly recommend them.

  • Shawn Pastor, the contractor, did not show up in the appointment. I scheduled my appointment three weeks ahead of time. I called and emailed him several times to remind him about the appointment because I took the day off from work to accommodate him. Then, he had the nerve to blame me that since he did not call me back or replied to my email means the appointment was never set up. Don't be fooled by this contractor. This contractor I believe gives a low price quote in Angie's List to fish for customers and to get customers calling in and making an appointment.
