    Accent Awnings
    The woman who answered the phone was nice and I was able to get an appointment within a few days. Unfortunately, Accent does not carry the type of product I am looking for (retractable waterproof/weatherproof awning). Clearly she did not have enough knowledge of the product line to even question whether an appointment was appropriate. Since Accent makes all of the awnings it sells, it should not be too difficult to train the phone staff. 
    But when Jim came out, he did his best to make the appointment productive. He brainstormed solutions to my problem (rainwater ponding on my deck); smart solutions that unfortunately have already been tried and ruled out. He then remembered the name of a European company that used to make the kind of product I need, and spent some time on the computer hunting down leads. From there I was able to find a company that carries a product that will work for me.

    ShadeTree Canopies ��� for COOL outdoor living space
    The structure is very attractive. We ordered the semi sheer cover s and blinds, (six years age) but the do not provide enough shade. Our house faces West. Our fault, not theirs. Just ordered the sunbrellas as replacement. Should get them this week. Their installer was great. Did a good job.

    Missed installation date.  Made measurement mistakes.  Made corrections but shouldn't have happened in the first place.  Now I have to patch and paint the holes that were drilled for the wrong sized awning.

    Everything went fine. Jon, the receptionist and the crew were all courteous and professional.details of the work above. We plan to add some plantation shutters and I will definitely have Jon do the work.

    I don't consider it a bargain price, but I do think the quality and service was well worth the cost. It was a little slow from initial order until all materials were ready, but then everything was on time and per plan. They did a very fine job.
    There was one problem area, and it was partially my fault. The arrangement was that I would select and purchase the lighting fixtures I wanted to use, and they would put in all the wiring and install the fixtures. Because of my schedule, they had to return on another day for the electrical stuff. When the installer (the owner) came, he found the previous worker hadn't completed as much of the wiring as he expected, which caused the job to take a few more hours that he had anticipated. Then, one of the four light fixtures I had provided turned out to have been previously opened and parts were missing. With absolutely no complaint, the ace from Ace found workarounds to the fixture problems, requiring a run to the hardware store for some parts - at his expense - and some very challenging installation. I subsequently found that one fixture wasn't working due to a wire having pulled loose. He came back and fixed that quickly. This all represented a lot of extra hours (about 8 in all) due to problem with my fixture, and Ace handled it completely, with good humor and no complaint. I'm very happy.

    We are very satisfied with each and every step of each job that Jon's Window and Awning Company has provided.
    With each of the projects we took on, Jon was thorough and explained each step involved so we knew what to expect.
    Connie, the Office Manager, was familiar with each of our projects immediately.
    Connie communicated every schedule date, each change we made or might need to make, made reminder calls and verified installation time frames first thing on our installation dates. Connie from Jon's Window and Awning Company was always pleasant and on top off it.
    Jon's workers were great. They were on time, they worked hard, they were always safe, and cleaned up everything when the finished.
    I'd have to say that we had an excellent experience with each project Jon's Window and Awning Company completed for us.

    I called, they came when they said, they brought samples of fabrics from which to choose, they took the measurements, they then went away and emailed me the estimate. I agreed and sent a deposit, and 5 weeks later they installed the awnings.  Just as they promised.

    They came out on time to look at the two awnings and provide me an estimate. I agreed and a week later they picked up the awning frames. The frames were pretty rested. The sand blasted them and then repainted them. The covered them with new fabric to match the deck awning. Two weeks later they installed them both. They did a nice job sealing the awning to the walls. These guys really know awnings.

    The awning removal process took place when scheduled.  A 50% down-payment was due and paid.

    Once painting and gutter work was completed as scheduled, we had considerable difficulty talking with anyone who could commit to a time to install the new awnings.  

    A young girl who answered the phone offered to take my name and have someone call me to set up an install time.  As I was about to give her my name she said " wait, THEY don't even have a pencil here".   I wasn't sure who THEY were, but I did not receive a return call after two days. 

    I called repeatedly, talking with different voices each time, always being told to give my name and someone would call me and set up a time.  We were anxious to finish the job before our scheduled vacation.

    After a week of this, we finally got a call and agreed on an install time for an afternoon the following week.   Well after the scheduled time Superior Awning called saying they were running late and would not be able to install that day.  However, we were told we were scheduled for their first appointment the next morning - about 8 AM.  They did not show up, nor did they call.   Our calls to their office said that the "they were running late and wouldn't arrive until mid-afternoon".   So much for their plan that we were their first morning appointment.  They did complete the install that afternoon.

    All of this is an old story experienced by most of us more than once.  However, there are contractors out there that are prompt and communicate well - among them are Lou Lenz Painting Company and The Rain Gutter Specialist.  They did our paint and gutter work on schedule and were very accessible to us. 

    Superior awnings did a fine job restoring our two awnings, but their communication skills and promptness needs a lot of work.

    We could recommend Superior Awnings for workmanship - but if scheduling is critical, be sure to plan well ahead.  We did this and were still disappointed.

    I really like this company; they have a good web site which is important to me because I had to do everything from out of town. I selected a few fabric choices and they sent me samples in the mail (those took a while because they had to order them first). Once I selected the fabric everything went really smoothly and quickly. The quality of work was excellent. I would use them again, and even though it ended up costing me a bit more than I had planned on, the results were worth it (see pics).
