Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • It was fabulous. Louis was the designer and the project manager. The workers were polite and courteous and cleaned up after themselves after each days work. The job was done in a timely manner. They are going to maintain the yard.

  • I am an engineer in Silicon Valley and as such have been known to be direct, and some would say abrasive. Dealing with oversensitive people has always been a problem for me as I have trouble communicating succinctly simple issues without polite social protocol getting in the way. I have read a lot of the reviews here about Everlast sales people, and project managers being the same. I personally found this refreshing. Working together, we got a lot done in short order. I knew exactly what I wanted, and a good feel for how do to it. We were able to get to the heart of matters quickly and didn?t worry about any distracting conversational pleasantries. In fact, I found their employees delightful in this way. I chose Everlast because of their aggressive sales representatives and the upfront honesty I perceived in them. They could deal with me and me with them. From this beginning, I formed a relationship of trust with the employees of Everlast. We both understood each other. If, at times I perceived the construction work was not proceeding as planned, l learned the most important lesson when dealing with Everlast was this trust and patients. As time went on, Guy Hagai became my project manager and go to person at Everlast. I found him attentive to my queries, very easy to work with, and detail oriented. He kept me updated regularly with the progress of project and made me aware of a lot of the things I had overlooked ? thankfully. His management of this project relieved me of a lot of the stress I otherwise would have suffered through because this was the first time I had ever undertaken such a large project and was not knowledgeable of all aspects of its scope. Because of his years of experience in this field, with customers like me, and dealing with the many issues related to City permitting, scheduling, material selection and so on, things progressed smoothly because of his stewardship. The initial quote for the work to be done was $80K. It was to include 3 new bathrooms, new kitchen, new master bedroom, installation of tile floors, new ceilings, all new electrical, 14 new doors, complete interior painting, installation of recessed LED lights (and a lot of other incidentals ? too long to list). I was told that their best estimate for completion was to be 3 months. By the fourth month, job was not complete. I caught myself getting impatient and inquired why. Everlast informed me that due to new building code requirements, (added window egress required for new master bedroom and extra peering under removed load bearing wall) these delays were the result of City engineers being back logged for weeks as a result of the booming construction being done in the area. The delay was caused by circumstances beyond their control. What they didn?t tell me was that because of these changed code requirements, they were obligated to modify the structural design drawings, and re-submit them to the City of Fremont ? twice. They did this work without charging me extra. I know how much it costs to have this done ? between $2000 to $3000. Again, they did it without extra cost to me. But dealing with the city caused a 6 week delay ? not their fault. I can attest to this because I have dealt with the city of Fremont as well and understand how impacted they are. Everlast used the time to add features to the house I had not planned on getting - for free. I estimate the cost of these added extras to be in excess of $30K as I had long ago gotten quotes from other companies to have them done individually. In total, this amount would far exceed the loss in rent I suffered from a vacant house and delayed completion. Even after the City approved the modified plans Everlast continued to add features they felt ?should? be done. They did these things without asking me for more than the agreed on $80. Everlast did these they are conscientious, trust worthy, and were interested in doing a professional, thorough job which would satisfy me ? the customer. They accomplished this and more. All I had to do was be patient. The list of ?no added cost? additional improvements Everlast made to my property which were not included in the original quote of $80K are as follows: 1. Removal of load bearing wall and installation of glue-laminate beam and under house peering. 2. Construction of ?pass through? opening from the kitchen to the dining room for convenient inter-room access. 3. Adding motion detection LED lights in all bedroom closets. 4. Installing cedar wood flooring in all closets. 5. Wiring and installing ceiling fans in all bedrooms. 6. Installing 2 new windows to allow for egress code compliance. 7. Refinishing of all the existing wood floors in the house. 8. Refinishing of all the existing tiles floors in the house. 9. Installation of glass brick shower stalls, and entry way walls. 10. Replacing all ?under house? sewer lines from all bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room all the way up to the city line. This alone would have been a $6000 expense. They did a beautiful job under there. 11. Re-routing of kitchen gas range hood exhaust flue through attic/roof in order to accommodate an enlarged diameter pipe. 12. Removal of many walled structures within the house which wasted a lot of floor space and once removed opened up the architecture significantly. 13. Purchase and installation of hardwired carbon dioxide/monoxide detectors in every room. I found the employees of Everlast to be very easy to work with. They always had my interests in mind. I got way more than I expected and would recommend this company to anyone in need of such services. Three days after Everlast completed construction, I received multiple requests to rent the property. All who saw it thought it was beautiful. By the fourth day a rental agreement lease was signed. • Hiring Kanler was the best decision we could have made. John at Kanler met us to discuss our massive remodeling project. Not only did he patiently addressed all of our concerns, he also helped us make the best decisions in regards to scope to work. They were definitely the most expensive bid we received, but the peace of mind that came with picking them was priceless - kinda like one of those Mastercard ads! I highly recommend them to anybody!

  • With the recent drought situation in California my husband and I chose to stop watering our front yard lawn and had also recently had a large over grown tree removed that could have possibly fallen onto our home and our neighbor's in a severe winter storm. As result, the yard was barren and in dire need of new landscaping for many months. We knew we wanted a drought tolerant landscape but didn't know how to start the design or what type of plantings would be best. We checked with several sources on line and after visiting Hansen's show yard in Castro Valley we chose Hansen Landscape Contractors. We met with the owner, Steve Hansen, who showed us around their large show yard to give us an idea of the many options available to us--different types of rock, pavers, concrete, plants, ponds, waterfalls, etc. Their show yard is beautiful. Once we decided to use Hansen, we were contacted by one of the project managers/designers (Louis Siegel) to get us started on the project and who also finalized the project with us. Louis met with us to get a general idea of what we wanted. We were informed he would draw up a design and informed us of the cost involved up front. He gave us a timeframe of when to expect it and how he would send it. Once we received it and reviewed it, we discussed it with the project manager. The design was broken down by price so we were able to approve or reject anything we didn't want so that we could stay within our budget. Communications were done by email and by phone for the most part after the initial meeting and found Louis to be very responsive to our calls. We were given timeframes of all the activities that needed to occur and given choices of the products so that it was what we wanted. The project stayed on track; we were always informed in advance of what to expect. The project manager was on site when it started, check in periodically as the project was progressing and did a final walk through. After the landscaping was completed the project manager did a 1 week, 2 week, 1 month, and a final check up at 2 months on the health of the plants. We found Louis and all of the other workers to be very professional. I highly recommend Hansen Landscape Contractors.

  • We had our new born and we had to either move to bigger house or add room to the house, We decided to build an addition to second floor to add master bathroom and that should be cheaper then move to new house plus move our kids to new school. Anyways we meet few contractors and we got high price Ari came and give us price as well after couple of days but he had another idea to save us money. He had a plan already figure out for us, we told him we will be happy to meet him and learn about his plan. He show us that we can extand the kitchen move few walls in the house and get our new room with extra bath cheaper then build second floor addition. We of course sign with Ari and choose to go with his idea and design. Everlast finish this project in 6 month including the permit process. The kitchen was the extra we endup doing and still cheaper then our original plan. Ari save us around 40k and our home value is much higher then have the second floor addition without doing the kitchen and extra bath. We actually made more money then we invest and we are grateful to Everlast and Ari.
Tip: The best in bath, kitchen and addition i will not think twice next time i will want to hire someone.

  • Compared to other company estimates, they were inexpensive and reasonable. They were very professional. My brother is a retired tradesman, and he was very impressed with GM&C. They did quality work.

  • This went extremely well.  By far the easiest project I have done in my home.  Called Andy at A&M Concrete on a Wednesday morning.  He told me to hold while he pulled over off the road.  Took my information.  Told me he would call me back once he got back to his work.  That was 10 minutes later.  He told me he was going to be driving very near my house around noon that day.  He showed up a few minutes before noon.  Andy and his son measured the area and I had a quote in about 15 minutes.  I asked him how his schedule looked and he said he had another project push out so he could start the following day (Thursday) if I wanted to.  I signed the quote and he agreed to come out the following day to start.  Leveling and framing would be done on Thursday and depending on when he could get concrete delivered, maybe pour Friday (Monday at the latests).  Andy's crew arrived right at 8:30 the next morning.  Probaby 5 guys total.  They immediatley went to work.  I had to run to work around 10 AM, but they were already starting the framing when I left.  Around 1 PM my wife came by the house and Andy was there.  Concrete was already there.  They were already pouring.  Andy said the concrete truck just so happened to be available.  Eveything was done, put away and cleaned up and paid by 3 PM.  Outside of the quote day which happened on a Wednesday, everything was done the following day.  And they did a great job.  Two areas that were always mud spots are now nice flat concrete.  I couldn't be happier with how easy and fast the process went.

  • There were large tree roots in the front uprooting the sidewalk. I called and spoke to Andy, who came by in a few days and gave me an estimate, which I thought was reasonable.  But first I had to get the tree cut down, that delayed the project for awhile.  Andy got busy in the meantime and things got delayed further. However, he always returned my phone calls and kept me updated. When the work finely was done, things came out exactly as Andy said and I was very pleased with the job. I liked Andy very much, he was pleasant to work with.

  • Had two on-site planning discussions with Andy where he listened to what I wanted and made additional and helpful suggestions. In the planning process, plans were changed several times and he was very compliant. Minor changes were also willingly made during the job. The company was very flexible with our personal schedule and made every effort to get our job done sooner rather than later, which was appreciated and worked for both parties.
Workers were professional and on time. The company took care of the deck demolition and debris haul away. Drainage line adjustments were completed, and though one existing line was damaged, it was repaired quickly and thoroughly. Concrete work was beautiful and clean. Job was completed to our satisfaction. The only post-work issue was that clean-up could have been better.  Two stepping stones were broken and there was dried concrete on the others. Also, the hose was used and not cleaned of concrete and dirt and was left in a jumble.
