Great company to deal with. Excellent communication. Beware of companies that advertise that they are licensed and insured. This one is. The CPUC is the licensing agency (California Public Utilities Commission). I think you will be very pleased if you decide to deal with this company.

    Meathead Movers & Princess Packers
Failed to honor insured damage claim During a move, Meathead employees severely damaged a teak library unit with an original cost of $16,000. But, I thought "No, worries, I bought their REPLACEMENT VALUE insurance." It has been 66 days now and I still have no resolution. Meathead rep will not turn my call over to a supervisor. I have requested numerous times to be provided with the insurance carrier name and have yet to receive it. Below is an abbreviated version of my complaint. 9/26 (Day 1): I contacted Meathead, provided a completed claim form and photos and was referred to their concierge service to help me find a place for repairs. The concierge was a joke. They gave me a list of 3 places. #1 was a company that only did business by email--no physical address or phone number. #2 was a furniture upholsterer that did "refinishing on the side." (Oh sure, I'll hand over my gorgeous upscale library to a guy who specializes in upholstery.) The third company said "we won't do business with Meathead Movers." I called the rep at Meathead to complain. He said "go get a bid." (At this point I requested an insurance adjuster -- which was declined). I started researching companies qualified to do restoration on a high-end piece of furniture. What I found out is that quality companies charge to come to do an estimate (otherwise they'd be wasting their time giving out estimates instead of working.) I called Meathead back to tell them this and the guy said "my supervisor said he needs one bid." So, because they would not pay for a bid, I paid $150 for a restorer to come look at it. The quote was nearly $10,000! So, after a couple of weeks the rep told me the boss wants 3 bids! After a couple of weeks, I get a call from the concierge service with some companies to contact. Most of them did not have websites or photos of work to look at. Mostly, they were a bunch of handymen who do minor work and not specializing in restoration of fine furniture. I complained to the rep. It took him 10 days but he came up with a few more companies. I finally was able to obtain another estimate without paying them in advance to come out -- the company looked great and their bid was substantially less. I sent Meathead the bid with the caveat that if the damage is worse than detailed on the bid, there may be a revision. I sent that bid to them on 11/15. 12/1 (Day 66 with NO RESPONSE): Two more weeks have passed and I still have no answers. After countless email conversations, telephone calls and the usual canned response "I apologize for the delay ... I realize you are upset ... and blah blah blah," Please note: This is an abbreviated version that hits the high points only. I have a file that contains 54 email conversations documenting my claim along with numerous phone calls all of which have resulted in not honoring the claim. Its my feeling that they are not intending to resolve this issue or want to wear me down until I give up.

The guys arrived exactly on time. They were extremely courteous, professional, and efficient throughout the entire move. They had absolutely no issues quickly disassembling the furniture, loading the truck, arriving at the new place, unloading and assembling everything in the most careful and professional way possible. They were done ahead of the predicted time. Overall a seamless move with no hiccups and no issues whatsoever. We would definitely use this company again.

The move went very well.  The two movers were very professional and worked extremely hard.  We had to pick up items from two different locations (existing house and storage unit) and move them into a new home.  The process was quick and efficient, despite the heat.

    NorthStar Moving Co
Northstar movers were promt and professional, however, we had a few hiccups along the way. As they were moving furniture to into our new home, some of the wood furniture was nicked and they made a large gash in the wall going up the stairs. Also, upon finalizing the bill at the end, they overcharged us for an hour of time. I noticed it on the bill and they refunded the money, however, had I not been double checking everything we would have paid an extra $120. I also felt we should have gotten a discount considering the gash in the wall but we let it go. Long day and we were tired. Not bad for movers tho.

I would like  to amend that Wendy, from northstar, saw my review and took great effort to amend the issue regarding the gash on our wall. She sent us a refund check for what we had to pay to hAve the wall repaired. She was extremely courteous and professional. I would recommend northstar and use them again becaUse of the amazing service. Thank you Wendy!

They came out the same day I called and got everything moved in one afternoon.  They were efficient.  The price was reasonable.  They unloaded everything and put everything where I wanted.  I was very satisfied.

    Gordon's Moving Services
When they showed up 3 hrs late, they walked around looking at stuff asking if this needed to be moved or that etc. I told them everything they see needed to be moved. Told me they couldn't move stuff not in boxes like clothes, lamps-I was told beforehand not to because wardrobes would be provided and they would wrap lamps etc, When they did move from their leaning stance, they moved very slow. I did not trust them nor want them moving me and told them to leave. Called office again to report no move by them would be done which still had the recording. No one ever followed up from Gordon's and I was left with no mover, had to be out in less than 24 hours and I needed to find a mover for the next day-a Sat and a holiday weekend. Horrible Gordon's company, never EVER called me back, unprofessional, 3 hours late, dirty, no supplies, very abrasive in language skills or lack there of, and left me in the lurch on a Friday that I needed to be out of apt that day. Luckily apt gave me an extra day and I luckily found a wonderful company, with 3 delightful, clean, hard working, helpful uniformed professional gentlemen who had supplies and wardrobes and wanted the work and made the nightmare of Gordon's Moving go away-FOREVER! Can't imagine any company not caring that much and still in business-hopefully others won't have to go through this and at a time that is stressful to begin with.

    Rich Nelson Moving Services
Rich was friendly and helpful, gave us good tips on packing.  He was also pretty flexible with changing the move date, because the escrow company delayed our closing.  He and his crew arrived promptly on the moving date.  We were pretty organized and had everything in boxes, so that helped them load things expeditiously.   We were done a couple of hours r than his estimated time.  They were hepful in unhooking and hooking up our washer.  Those are the good parts...
Unfortunately, my bed frame was scratched up in the move.  They miscalculated the size of my armoir amd dinged up walls and door frames to the bed room.  I was disappointed that the mattressed were not  bagged.  And they broke my Mom's sewing machine.  I guess they've never moved a sewing machine before, and was not aware that there's oil in it.  In addition, the machine got twisted in the ride from the old house to the new one.  One of Rich's crew strong armed the machine into place, and it did start up.  What we did not realized till this week, that a major part of the machine was damaged beyond repair.    I had to call a sewing machine repair guy (from Angie's List) to fix it...cost me $100.   I did not even bother calling him... as he would likely try to send his guy over to try to fix it again...
I admit...we had a lot of stuff and Rich and his crew did a good job overall...but it's the lack of attention to details, which may be important to people that I wish could be better.
I'm not sure if I would recommend him to a friend as a mover.

Estimator very thorough, although a little on the low side. Packers adequate, but boxes not correctly marked (we're still looking for the coffee maker on the third day of unpacking!). Moving team a little careless with fragile items. Driver very good at loading items for minimum shifting. Load arrived three days early, which caused some problems in preparing house on this end, but would be good for someone wanting to get in quickly. Unloading very quick and items in correct rooms.
