  • Jason was very meticulous and always made sure all the work was done well and to code by his team. He was responsive by email and text and handled all of our big and small requests. Our project was delayed by several weeks due to delays in some of the materials we ordered, but Jason promptly installed and fixed things up once our materials arrived. Jason helped us with a bathroom and kitchen remodel. We had contacted many contractors. Many contractors ignored us outright and others showed up and promised to follow up and never did. From the start Jason was upfront with his timelines and the costs. We appreciated his honesty and when the job was completed we were happy because their were no hidden costs. We have used other contractors in the past who started the job then added additional costs. During the bathroom remodel, Jason's team found a significant amount of wood rot due to leaking pipes and other not-to-code issues with our house. He let us know immediately, did not ignore the problems and offered a cost effective solution. Jason made sure all of his team's work was up to code and did a thorough job fixing the wood rot. We highly recommend working with Jason and his company!!

  • We enjoyed very much working with Avi, Sari and their crew at SOD builders to remodel our master bathroom/bedroom and guest bathroom. During the remodeling project, the communications between us and the people who been at the house was very good and in fact it really helped with most of the stress that we had during the remodeling. The quality of each one of the crew was top notch and we were really surprised when we saw how they work. Each one of them always wanted to be sure that we were happy. Sari and Avi were fun and easy people to work with in the design and implementation stages. They were a huge help for us since we our design knowledge was not big. They kept listing to what we likes and dislikes and help us to find the perfect products for our remodeling. At the end of the work, everything looks very beautiful and all of our questions were addressed and solved to our satisfaction. We don’t see ourselves happier with the results of how our remodeling project came out.

  • Out with the old, in with the new.  Phil from Shaker Construction helped pick out materials, including great ideas with the tile back splash, the small glass tiles added an elegant touch to the kitchen.
3 stops to pick out all the pieces, and I could just sit back and relax while the old kitchen disappeared and the new one materialized.  All while keeping the place clean and the kitchen usable as long as possible.  I love my new kitchen. Thanks Phil.
Shaker has work on many projects in my home, from small repair jobs to large remodels, I?ve always been very happy with the work.

  • As part of a home remodel this year, we updated our living room fireplace. Mirat Marble and Granite was recommended to us to do the stone work by the company that designed and fabricated the wood mantel. We met with the owner, Mario Mirat, and found him to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful in discussing what materials to use and the specifics of the proposed construction. He recommended several companies that sold stone slabs and even accompanied us as we made the rounds and selected what we wanted. We settled on Absolute Black Granite and Mario pointed out the best slab, then arranged to pick it up and transport it to his shop. He fabricated and installed the hearth and fireplace face and the results are, quite frankly, breathtaking. He is a true artisan who learned his craft from his father in Croatia. The installation is beautifully crafted and complements the wood mantel perfectly. He did exactly what he said he would do, provided a wealth of information and suggestions along the way, and delivered a gorgeous finished product at a reasonable cost. Our impression was that for Mario, each project he does is not just a job but a labor of love in which he takes great pride. We think that is as it should be and we feel fortunate to have found him. We plan to use Mario again at some point to replace our kitchen countertops and recommend him without hesitation to anyone who is interested in marble or granite stone work for their fireplace, kitchen or bathroom countertops.

  • I am a DIY person doing my own kitchen remodel and I was at the phase where I needed to get going on the countertop selection. So my wife and I embarked on searching for the perfect granite for our kitchen.  We visited about a dozen yards and a few that did installation.   I came across Artistic Stone in Yelp.  I read the available reviews in Yelp and Angies List and traveled to their San Leandro location.  Dave greeted us and gave us a tour of the facility.  They do a lot of prefab but they were experience in getting slabs and performing installation too.   The more I talked with Dave, I could tell that he knew his trade.  I came to find out that he was the manager of the installers and was filling-in for people during lunch.  I felt pretty good about Artistic Stone but there always remains the big Question??How much would it be.  Dave introduced us to Yvette, since I had my kitchen counter dimensions she offered to give us a quote while we looked around some more.   About 20 minutes later she had a quote based on a theoretical price for the slabs.  So off we went to look at more slabs.   I had gotten 2 additional quotes from 2 other installers who basically do the same service.  Speeding up a week, we found the piece we wanted at IRG in Burlingame.   I relayed the contact info to Yvette and she took it from there.  Another Quote was generated by the next day and a schedule for templating was set up.   Artistic stone took care of us the whole way.  They informed us on what the process was and ensured that the schedule would meet our needs.  The team of Vasile and Marcel arrived on time and were fast working and very informative.  As a DIY,  I asked them a boatload of question and they were more than happy to explain what they were doing.  The templating went without a hitch.  There is a time when the customer can see where the granite fabricator is going to place the templates on the slab.  I was informed on which day this was going to happen.  Dave was there to ensured that were happy with where the seams would be and answer any questions.  So Vasile and Marcel came back again to install the granite. They did all the normal installation but there was one location where the ogee bullnose literally did not match up at the seam due to the angle.  I went outside for about 15 minutes and came back.   I was showned the location again and now the granite matched up perfectly.  I don?t know how he did it but I was relieved that counter did not crack or that we had to get a new piece made even though we couldn?t because there was no extra material .  Another plus was that they know what detail work like the backsplash height and location would work since they have seen countless kitchens.  Marcel fabbed a transition piece for my window sill that looks great.  Overall, fun time and a great service with an outstanding staff.   I would highly recommend Artistic stone to my friends and family.

  • I had previously had this job quoted by a local vendor and was unhappy with the level of service.  In order to obtain a quality vendor I joined Angie's List for this particular job.  I sent out several emails to vendors and the first and best to respond was Mark from America's Dream Homeworks.  He came out to give a quotation and with his computer and portable printer was able to provide 2D and 3D representations of the new kitchen.  He was friendly, full of suggestions and had a can-do attitude.  It was much easier to discuss remodeling ideas with the floor plans in hand, which I did not receive from other vendors in previous attempts to estimate scope of work.  In order to meet a winter discount deadline by end of January I felt a slight rush to sign the contract but I only paid $3500 up front ($2500 deposit for cabinets and $1000 for work).  In order to place the order for cabinets Mark (Vlad) or Vladimir were very willing to come by late in the evenings to drop off cabinet and granite samples so they set a high standard for customer service early on.
Due to separate HOA and vendor issues (unrelated to this particular vendor) with the related garden window approval the work on the kitchen did not start till May 10.  We set an initial date of May 8 but this was pushed later due to another job they had to finish, which I did expect.  The initial estimate on the signed contract was 9-12 business days, which was accurate for the bulk of the work, completed May 25.  So we paid $15K more at this point.  But there were some mistakes we made (wrong size sink, delayed granite cutting work) and some mistakes they made (corner cabinet wrong size so had to remove initial install and replace with new corner cabinet) so the final touches (our final to do list) required work on some isolated days, so the job was not fully completed with final walk through with Vladimir till June 22, when we paid the balance.  In addition to the labor and parts we signed in the contract we provided parts for installation totalling $6K more (dishwasher and faucet and disposal + the unusually expensive custom garden window to fulfill HOA specifications).
When we were not waiting for new parts, the actual work went relatively smoothly.  For most of the work, weekdays only, there was a two person crew (Sergey and co-worker) and they started ~ 9am in the morning and would often work late till ~7pm or 8pm. They set tarps down and taped plastic to separate the work area from the living area.  Heard no complaints from any neighbors in our condo complex and they cleaned up at the end of the day.
Some things that can be done better or more smoothly involve better communication on both sides.  We did not have a strong opinion on what brand of cabinets we ordered but if you do I suggest doing your research before hand and knowing if you want to go higher end than their standard Timberlake brand cabinets.  Before cabinet installation have a conversation with supervisor (Vladimir) about which cabinets go where.  This would have avoided having to take out the other, wrong cabinet and would have avoided drilling unnecessary holes in some of the other cabinets.  It's also a good time to make sure the right shelves or roll-out drawers were ordered, which we did have to order later.  For example in order to move process along the sealing on the grout was delayed.  We would have preferred the grout in the floor tile under the cabinets to be sealed.  In general, during planning stage it's best to be clear yourself on what your goals are (ours were maintain or expand storage space, improve counter space, improve look) so you know what to prioritize if you have to make choices.  Some of our choices resulted in less storage in some locations and not the right size storage in others.  While the level of service was excellent at the initial stages of the work some of our  emails during the middle and towards the end were not addressed promptly so were slightly disappointed.
In the end we love our new kitchen and it came together well with Mark's initial consultation, Natalie's email correspondence with the HOA paperwork and scheduling, Vladimir's supervision and friendly interaction, Sergey and crew work and a relatively smooth working relationship.  We would highly recommend America's Dream Homeworks to others.

  • They did an excellent job. They were very attentive. They actually made a pattern to make sure they cut the stone accurately. It is a family-run operation and were very people-friendly. They were recommended to us by our general contractors.

  • They are very reasonable. Their price was half of what anybody else would charge. They did a beautiful job on the bathroom. It is a husband and wife team. They did all the work themselves except for putting down the marble counter tops in the bathroom. They always showed up and called ahead of time if they were going to be late.

  • I hired Glenn Rogers to remodel my master bathroom and put a new cabinet and tile floor in the other bath. Also new floor in kitchen. The job took six months, during witch time he went to Hawaii and skiing. Delaying the job. When I confronted him about the length of time of the project because of his miss orders and poor scheduling. He said I should have moved out of my house for the duration. He told me I had to buy a new granite countertop for the guest bath. Because the old top would not work with the new sink. Later I found out from one of the workers it was because the new vanity was the wrong size. Now the new counter top does not match the rest of the granite in the bathroom. He charged me for electrical and plumbing fixtures that I had already provided or paid for. When I questioned him on his bill, he gave anew accounting. Which was quite a bit different to the original bill. There was dust all over the house and he didn?t seem concerned about finish the job. Now that he has his money 37,000, without electrical and plumbing. I haven?t heard from him in two months. I am trying to get my final, and the shower door has failed inspection.

  • George is awesome. He's very professional and trustworthy. We worked on a whole house remodel (not just the kitchen) and I can tell you the guy knows what he's doing. From design to installation, materials to finishing, plumbing, tile, windows, fence, bathroom remodel, and let's not forget, kitchen remodel & cabinets and bath vanities that are, in one word, BEAUTIFUL. Some of my friends and family cannot believe the before and after pictures. Those guys did an A+ job. High quality product design to our taste, timely delivery and installation, clean and professional. The best part is, they are priced so competitively we couldn't find a better quote (and we looked!). George's staff does all the work and he's there throughout the process. We were worried about giving the whole project to one company, Cabinets Plus exceeded our expectation and delivered just as they promised. You won't regret using them. They stand by their product and quality all the way.
