  • We had a great experience with West Chester Design and Build.  We came home from vacation to find our first floor and finished basement ruined by a burst pipe, and Chris Payson and West Chester DB made our house a home again.  Before awarding the contract to WCDB, we met with several contractors that all came to our house and said the same thing, "tell us what you want, and we'll work up a price."  When Chris came to our house and met with us the first time, he immediately started making suggestions for changes and improvements.  His vision was right in line with ours.  Chris was always responsive and easy to reach when we had questions, his work crew is staffed with professionals that not only did stellar work but were always on time, friendly, and cleaned up at the end of every day.  WCDB's designer, Kimberly, was incredibly helpful and always available when we had questions or needed help.  She made sure that we made all of our design decisions on time and worked to keep the entire project on schedule. She was instrumental in helping us make several critical design decisions such as helping us to choose paint colors, carpet, counter tops, and back splash.  We can't say enough good things about WCDB!

  • We met with him once but we met with him another time and he brought his architect with him and I was totally impressed with that. It was a free estimate. It went really well. It was only $185 a square foot for the house but I still think it's too much money for the house. I was really impressed with the fact that he scheduled a meeting with his architect because I could bring my own plans. I was impressed with the first meeting and his presentation and then I was impressed that on our second meeting, he brought an architect to talk about what architects do and how to make things less expensive because the design elements were expensive and not really necessary. We're probably buying a house and have them remodel it rather than build one. I think it was still overpriced. We talked about heating and air conditioning and insulation and he knew what he was talking about.

  • It was very good. The quote was very high but he was very knowledgeable. I guess if I had a significant amount of money, I would go with him. It was a free interview. He was very knowledgeable about building in Geneva National, that's the gated community we were looking at and had all the services in one business (for example, architectural, interior designing and his own builders). We didn't really hit it off personality-wise, but as far as knowing what he was doing, knowing the services, having everything available to him, I would say he was an "A" company. He just said, "$200 a square foot". It didn't get to the point where he was working out what it would cost for just a guidance, which I was hoping for. His office is on the Geneva National Building Property so he's convenient.

  • We purchased a William Lyon new home.  The home was near completion.  We were able to select our flooring choices, everything else was already completed.  The customer service was outstanding.  The home is very well built and we are extremely happy with our new home.  After sale customer service is as outstanding too.  Their goal is to provide the best customer service, and they do.

  • He dragged it out and didn't start working and in early December I finally gave up on him.  He had stories about other jobs; he had to travel, and had personal problems etc.  I wouldn't hear from him for weeks at a time and finally he just blew me off and said that he didn't want to do the job.  He strung me out for 4 months and had a very bad attitude.  He didn't do any work; it was basically in the planning stages.  What he had proposed for the price was fairly reasonable.  He estimated the price to be $4,000 with materials and labor, but I never paid him because he never did the work.  He kept saying that he was getting quotes from lumber yards and when I spoke to the people at the lumber yards myself they said that he had never been there to get any prices.  I would not use him in the future.

  • Began on time. Punctual. Notified if could not work due to other demands (State-required asbestos training one day). Generally here and well prepared. Cleaned up area each day beautifully. No scraps. Swept the area. Added some small thoughtful items at no additional charge. Very professional.
