Fireplace Repair reviews in Escondido

    JRP Plastering & Stucco

Stucco Repairs: The header beam that was removed during our patio demolition left behind large holes and discoloration in the stucco. Had JRP (Joseph) come over to estimate the work. While we were looking at the job, I had him give pricing on other stucco repairs that included: small shrinkage cracks, holes from removal of electrical conduit and a baseball dimple in foam window trim.  He also pointed out other areas that needed attention.  I was impressed by his knowledge and eye for catching things that I overlooked.

Stucco application to new BBQ island: JRP gave me a reasonable price and had good ideas on how to make the island stand out.

Performance: I chose the final scope of work and broke up the project into 3 phases. Each phase consisted of a scope and payment plan. Had him start the stucco repair. JRP came out and performed all the stucco repair work without any problems. They color matched the existing stucco. His fog coat looked great and matched the existing texture.  He masked everything off so there was no mess or overspray. I was impressed.

While they were there, they started the BBQ island prep work. He spread a compound on all the seams and repaired the upper rounded part on the bar. JRP also fixed the lower support that was supposed to be rounded. This took considerable effort and it turned out excellent. Note for the readers: I had a large BBQ island installed unfinished.  We wanted to customize the island to our needs. Had JRP place a footing under the island to keep the moisture away from the metal frame. JRP suggested this work and it made sense to extend the life of the island by keeping out of the moisture zone from the concrete. This phase was performed very nicely. JRP also sealed the island to the footing.  This not only keeps it above the moisture zone, it also keeps the bugs out.  It turned out very solid and I have peace of mind that the island will last for many maintenance free years.

The last phase of work was the island stucco. This came out great. The final color was nice and complementary with our house color and patio fireplace. The texture was perfect and really made the island stand out.

Overall, JRP did a nice job for us.  I personally inspected the job and monitored their performance. I would say that Joseph (JRP) is a craftsman and takes pride in his work. Their prices were reasonable. Other quotes came in high. It was a little tough to get scheduled but the good contractors are always busy.  I did not mind and he came through for us. I will use him again.

    Chimney Sweeps, Inc
It was excellent and helpful. The company provided us information about several safety issues, which we intend to have fixed. The entire job was one of the best experiences we've ever had with a service oriented company. I can't say enough about how professional and efficient they were. I have a quote to do the work that needs done and will call them when I'm ready to take care of it. Please know, Angie's List has been a real money saver, and you never need worry about how the company will perform. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone. Chimney and fireplace are spotless.

CUSTOM MASONRY & FIREPLACE DESIGN INC
From start to finish our experience with Paul and his team was flawless. He is a true craftsman who knows the ins and outs of fireplaces. We have a VERY large two sided fireplace that had outdated stone on it and wanted to modernize it. We had already picked the materials and with Paul's help ordered the correct amount. During the entire process they protected our brand new wood floors with many layers of wood and carpeting so that they would not be damaged. They built out the fireplace on one side so that a TV would fit in flush. Paul also installed the TV mount and the TV because we had them available for him. The two mantels they installed were giant and heavy (about 150 pounds each). Paul knew the exact way they needed to be installed so that they are securely in place. I have even hung from them to make sure they didn't budge :) The stone work was also amazing and we couldn't be happier.

    Your Chimney Sweeps
Smoothly.  I gave him a "B" for punctuality because I called him when he was 15 minutes late to see when he'd be at our home.  I would have preferred a pro-active phone call but overall he is a professional and knows what he is doing.

    A 2 Z Handyman & Home Improvement
Looks good. Fair price, solid work for a fairly large handyman job. I would use them again. Only gripe is they dont clean up after themselves very well. Had to spend an hour afterwards cleaning extra grout stuck to tile and backsplash because it was not wiped clean immediately after. A little messy in general but hard to beat. Franco is easy to work with as well and was helpful when discussing different options.

    John Douglas Construction
Our house burnt to the ground on October 22, 2007 while we watched from our pool because we could not get out. We started with our rebuild ideas in 2008 and had horrible experiences with three designs that were totally wrong. The last designer / builder was hired only to redo the designs from the first two, but she took it upon herself to begin the pad prep of our lot with massive equipment and relocated the massive boulders on our hilltop lot such that they were deemed a landslide risk and our lot was declared unsafe to build on. We were blessed to be introduced to John Douglas Construction who had the experience and knew the proper skilled professionals to correct the damages done to our lot. Rebuilding our home was a massive and time consuming project that John Douglas provided us with the right subcontractors, architect, civil and structural engineers and great advice and ideas during the rebuild. Our rebuild took almost six years from the date of the fires and we now have our beautiful home on our wonderful ridge top site. John Douglas Construction has a great web site where he has photographs of some of the special home and projects that he has build and I am proud to see several of the photos are from our home. Look at the special spiral staircase and you can see the wounder full work his firm can do.We firmly believe that an angel saved our lives that night while we sat in the pool and watched our house burn to the ground and we are also sure this angel directed us to John Douglas Construction. We hardly recommend John Douglas Construction with five stars out of five stars.

    Burnie Fireplace Services
Pat, one of the owners and his assistant Sean came out to do a visual inspection on the chimneys and dryer vent to check to see if they needed to be cleaned.
Side note: One has to put a lot of trust that they are going to do the right thing and give you an honest evaluation because they basically earn their money by what is in the evaluation. I know I can't tell when a chimney needs to be swept or an rooftop vent for a 1st floor dryer needs to be cleaned so that trust has to be there. Because of continued good reviews at Angie's List and a prior relationship from doing business with them 4-5 years ago I knew that I count on Bernie FP Svs. to be upfront with me.
    Cleanliness Evaluation:
The evaluation came back that the dryer vent had a slight buildup up lint on the vertical up-vent pipe but it was okay and didn't need to be cleaned. One of the fireplaces had enough soot that it needed to be swept but the other was okay.
    Safety Evaluation:
Pat also showed me where there was an air gap with wood exposed on the fireplace that didn't need to be swept. He also explained how the two chimney shroud's (that all houses in this neighborhood have and that were grandfathered in) could have heat buildup that could cause a fire.
Overall, I am, again, very pleased with what I got for the job I asked them to do. Highly recommend.

    Fireplace Technicians
Gary responded promptly to my phone call, and came to my house the next day.  Gary was very polite and professional.  After I explained to Gary what the problem was, he looked at it and told me what he could do.
Me made an appointment at my earliest convenience.  Gary did a great job, and the fireplace looks brand new.

    MOJO Design & Contracting Inc
Everything went very well. I redid my kitchen and I called Anthony to install the new appliances. Anthony always answered my calls promptly, he spent time answering all of my questions, and made excellent suggestions. He returned several times to ensure that everything was done correctly. Anthony was very professional. I highly recommend Mojo Design and Construction.

    MOJO Design & Contracting Inc
My husband and I are very pleased with the result! Mojo was reliable, competent, very careful about cleanliness and working in our home while we lived there. Once the job was finished, they made sure that the punch list was cleared to our complete satisfaction. The staff assigned to the project were friendly, polite, and hard workers. Mojo's quote was not the lowest or the highest, but we chose them because the quote was presented to us in the most professional manner with all detail clearly noted. I highly recommend this company and would use them for small or large home remodel jobs. We would hire them again without any hesitation
