    ECS Construction Inc.
Eric and the ECS team were great to work with and we highly recommend them! We had a big project to remodel the second floor of our home, which included a tear-down and rebuild of our garage. The project was estimated to be about six months, and we're happy to say they finished the major part of the job EARLY, with high quality. We lived in the home on the first floor during the remodel, and could tell the progress being made day-by-day. The crew came in regularly on Saturdays, and neighbors commented on how diligent the work was happening. Overall: -Eric and subs were trustworthy and did high quality work. Eric cared about the work his crew and subs were doing; and at one point, had our balcony railing replaced after installation because something was off. It looked OK to us, but he wasn't comfortable with the quality and the work was redone. -Eric seemed fair. He advised us on when we could save some money on parts or work, and when he thought spending more would be worth it. -There would be some minor miscommunication from time-to-time, so summarizing conversations and doing follow-up by email helped. Eric and his crew were great and we appreciated his non-flashy, even-tempered demeanor, that certainly comes from a lot of experience.

    LIFETIME PLUMBING
Matt from Lifetime Plumbing was an absolute professional! He was on time and ready to go exactly when he said he would be. Matt not only completed the job but he did it quickly, efficiently and with no mess. He also came 100% prepared with every tool possible so when things didnt go as planned, Matt was ready and able to fix the problem instantly. Finding a plumber with his complete set of skills is rare these days and I feel very lucky to have come in contact with him. There is only one person I will ever call for any of my plumbing needs from now on and its Matt from Lifetime Plumbing!

Matt was great - he was on time, professional, and obviously knew what he was talking about. Good pricing too. I will definitely use him again in the future for plumbing issues and I highly recommend him.

    California Smartscape
CS was attentive and suggestive to my goals for the property, listened intently, created 2D rendering of the project concept all at no initial cost to me. Had owner, Richard and designer Samantha actively engaged in making my plans for the project not only appropriate for the property but also worked aggressively to control the budgetary requirements. Compared to the 2 other designers I was evaluating, it was an impressive beginning. Project delivery, given the hurdles that we had to jump through, was amazing. Project Supervisor, Leo, was attentive to my desire to make changes on the fly as we laid out the project and was good to communicate and discuss the additional cost for change orders. The professionalism of the crews and attention to details was a very positive experience. Even up to the day of the final walk through. Having been through a massive landscape remodel of this kind only once before (not same in scope) I was impressed with their ability to manage all aspects of it's complexity. I could not speak more highly of CA Smartscape and their team. Would hire them again without question!

    HPC
The job was completed on time and on budget. Subcontractors were well known by Bill and were professional in attitude and appearance. Bill is friendly and professional as well. He is easily reached by cell phone in case of questions. We are very happy with the project and have recommended HPC to others. In addition to this large project, he has performed several small jobs such as replacing a door to the garage and a repair to the kitchen faucet.

    American Roto Drains & Plumbing
Given that this was on such short notice, we were very please with responsiveness, advice, and carrying out of the work. The new water heater is now working well. Our only concern, which I mentioned to them afterwards, was that the installation crew made a small, but important, error. They had set the water temperature much too high. When we started using the taps in the house after installation, air in the lines meant that water was spurting out -- at scalding temperatures (far in excess of recommended levels). Fortunately, no one was injured and I adjusted the temperature down. A good thing for everyone to check....

    DM Building Inc
The work completed was of the highest quality. Danny, the owner of DM Building, is a fair and honest business owner, and very responsive. He has a very skilled group of people and they did a great job from start to finish. Our foreman, Scott, who treated the project like it was his own home, provided excellent guidance and help throughout the remodel. The attention to detail was impressive and suggestions were made along the way which made the house even better. Most of the workers are employees which helps in scheduling work. We did work with some contractors recommended and managed by DM Building for kitchen and laundry cabinets, as well as tiling and flooring--and they were professional and did excellent work. In my case, I had never done a remodel and my husband was the main contact in initiating the work. Unfortunately, he died when we were in the middle of the rebuild. Danny, Scott and his crew were very supportive and helped me through the remodel, over and above my expectations, accommodating additional changes and working with me to get everything completed. The house is beautiful.

    Water Heaters Only, Inc
My water heater was leaking, I called Water Heaters Only and they were able to come out and replace it that day. Technician Pat arrived well within the 3 hour time period estimated, explained what he needed to do, and completed the new installation in about and hour and 15 minutes, just as he had estimated. Final price was slightly higher than what I was told over the phone, but Pat explained I had to have some additional work done to make the installation code compliant. I am very happy with the new heater and recommend Water Heater Service and especially Pat highly.

    Remodel Works Bath & Kitchen
We went with Remodel Works based on the strength of previous reviews and the attention to detail we saw from the designer. Much of this job went quite well. The designer (Yvette) was clearly knowledgeable and did a great job helping us choose everything needed to help carry out our vision for remodeling the bathrooms. The project manager, Paul, was personable, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and unflappable (in the face of dust setting off our loud smoke detector on the first day of the job, Paul remained calm while trying to sort out how to turn to the alarm off). By the end of the job, we were quite pleased with the final product, which we continue to enjoy months later. However, our overall ratings were diminished because of numerous red flags along the way. Based on what we heard, it appears that Remodel Works was either under new management, or the current management was not making quality a high priority. More than once, contract workers would show up only to discover that materials they needed had not yet been delivered. This appeared to be directly related to expect too few people to cover too many jobs. At a couple of stages of the project, people discovered belatedly that the wrong materials had been ordered. More than one of the crew told us that these shortcomings had not occurred often in the past, but were now frequent. Various stages of work would repeatedly be delayed at the last minute as it would suddenly be discovered that someone could not work on a particular day. When it was discovered in a couple of cases that the wrong item had been ordered, it took a couple of months for the replacement to arrive, only to discover that it was also the wrong item. As a result of all of this, a project that was projected with a clear, detailed timeline to be finished in 4-1/2 months (including buffers for things slipping between the cracks), finally ended only after 9 months. In parallel, throughout the project, it seemed that miscommunications from bookkeeping on pending payments were routine. This isn't to say that none of those who worked on our home were professional. At least two come to mind (Javier and Drew), both of whom were excellent. However, the overall result was not one that inspired confidence.

    Remodel Works Bath & Kitchen
I did a major master bathroom remodel, and wanted someone to take me through from start to finish, since I have no expertise of my own. Aleigh was wonderful at drawing up the plans, and helping me choose everything at their showroom, based on my budget. Once I was on their calendar, I was told there would be no interruptions in the work, after it began. This was absolutely true, thanks to Brett who was the perfect project manager. I was given a detailed itinerary and they stuck to it. Brett was always monitoring the work and answered any questions I had immediately, always with a smile on his face. Aleigh was also available to help with questions that came up. The workers always showed up on time and everything was kept extremely clean. I would say Aleigh and Brett were a dream team, as they anticipated every need, and there were no budget overrides, no surprises. I would definitely recommend this company, especially if you need a little hand-holding. I don't feel that I could have done much better price-wise, even if I had done all the leg work myself, and the results were absolutely beautiful. I'm spending the rest of the summer enjoying my gorgeous new bathroom.
