    Awesome Doggies Mobile Pet Grooming
    The groomer didn't know what she was doing. When I came out and saw what had happened I was shocked and dumbfounded at the sorry sight. Honesty would have been appreciated. She could have said "I don't know how to groom a Wheaton Terrier, so sorry to waste your time with this appt. but I'd rather not disappoint you."  She said "I called my boss and she said...people like it done xyz way." The groomer called me 4 times on the way to the appt. She could have called me from outside our house and said: "Please come out and verify that this is what you want."  Really it was terrible, traumatic and completely dishonest.  Mobile groomers need to have books or web addresses to verify with customers what grooming style is expected and then deliver on that promise. It was the most inept experience any canine could have. Fortunately, after composing myself,  I refused to have her "boss" come, cancelled the appt. for our other Wheaton and declined to pay. Next I  pleaded with a pro in Carlsbad to help us.
     It's going to be 6 months before Finnegan's hair will grow long enough for a Wheaton grooming. 
    To become a qualified professional groomer requires time, attention and mentorship. Awesome doggies sadly sends inexperienced, unqualified technicians on the road. The young woman they sent to us had no idea what she needed to do with a most beloved AKC registered Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier. Sad. 
    If you're in North County, I wholeheartedly recommend the professionals at Karen's Custom Grooming in Carlsbad. They are in a different universe than "Awesome Doggies" when it comes to expert grooming, honest business and genuine care for canines.

    Our dog was very content and well cared for by the staff at the Holiday Pet Hotel. They truly love and care for the animals under their care, providing excellent service. We were given updates as to how she was doing since she can be a bit of a nervous dog. They also provided photos of her from playtime and in her kennel. The staff is friendly and welcoming and always willing to answer questions.

    I took my 11 year old Aussie mix, Hannah, to Dog n Suds, where she had gone several times in the past with no problems. I spoke with the person who appeared to be an owner or manager when I dropped her off at 9:00 am. She asked how much I wanted cut off, and I said that I did not want anything cut off, only trimmed. She was going to show me pictures with different lengths, and I repeated that I did not want it cut, so showing me the photos was not necessary. I was very specific, and showed her that I did not want more than 1/2and quot; taken off the ends of her feathers. I explained that Hannah had surgery on her leg and that leg had short hair but I did not want the rest of her hair cut short like the leg. Because I have had a groomer cut her like an Aussie before, and that is not what I wanted, I was very clear and repeated exactly what I wanted. She appeared to be taking notes about what I wanted and writing it on Hannah's card.
    I returned at noon to pick Hannah up and was very upset to discover that they had CUT OFF all of her feathers, feathers that had been at least 4and quot; long. The hair was almost as short as the hair on the leg that had been shaved for surgery. I was very upset and waited to speak with the woman who I had spoken to in the morning. I stated that this was not at all what I asked for. Her response was and quot;well, the person who called it in said you wanted a cutand quot;. I told her that I was the person who called it in, and that I had explained to her exactly what I wanted, asking if what she saw on Hannah was what I had asked for. She did not respond. I was very angry and I repeated and quot;A TRIM, and a trim does not mean 4and quot; of hair cut offand quot;, to which she had no response but to roll her eyes. I advised her that it would take about 2 years for her hair to grow back out, as this has happened beforeand quot; and she chuckled at me and quot;no it won'tand quot;. I stated that I know my dog and said and quot;I can tell you that it will take about 2 years for it to grow back outand quot;, she again disagreed, chuckling again and saying and quot;no, it won't!and quot; I asked her if this incident bothered her at all and her response was and quot;yea, but what do you want me to do, glue her hair back on?!and quot; That was the final straw for me and I told her that I would not be paying for the service. She said and quot;Fine! Don't ever come back!and quot; as she turned her back on me and walked away.

    The Animal Keeper
    The Animal Keeper Encinitas has been a godsend for me. I am able to book appointments with ease, and when I arrive, the front desk people and manager are wonderful. Great attitudes. Dayna the groomer is a fantastic artist. She does a perfect wheaten look. Best of all, my dogs aren't stuck there all day-they're often in and out in a few hours-which is less stressful for them. One of my dogs has sensitive skin, and needs weekly bathing in oatmeal shampoo and conditioner (which I supply from my vets.). The process involves extra time and care, but there are never complaints. The only specific thing I'd advise is when you book an appointment on the phone, make it clear whether you want a grooming or a bath. Also, when you arrive, make it clear once again. This has been the only occasional miscommunication. Otherwise it's a seamless experience.

    This is a wonderful place to take my dog. They are very detailed and they make sure they do a complete and thorough job. I like the fact that I don't have wait for the service and they are priced very well.
