Tree Service reviews in El Toro

    TREEWEST CO.
The crew showed up on time and the supervisor took the time to find out exactly what we wanted done to the tree before they started working. They cleaned up the entire area when they were done, and the tree looks great!

Excellent! Two people came on time, did the job professionally and quickly, and were friendly. Since he had to climb on the tree, he wore spiked shoes which do slight damage (dents) to the tree trunk. Next time, I will ask for a ladder to be used rather than spiked shoes, but you have to ask for it beforehand. They said they could do it that way, too.

    Sotero Fernandez Tree Service
Sotero took the time to drive to my house to give me a quote.I expressed my concerns about previous tree companies and he expressed he had been in business for 37 years and eased my concerns that all would be done right. I called back a few days later and verbally accepted his bid. He called back and told my wife that he would call me back on Saturday. He never called. I called the office and was told someone would call me that evening. No call back. I left a message requesting someone in the company to call me to see if they wanted the job. No call back. Finally I contacted a person and we confirmed my name and address and that he would call me back when Sotero arrived back at the office. No call back!!!!!!! I called again to inform the answer machine that this was horrible customer service. THE END of my patience with this company.

    B And J Tree Service
The crew showed up a hour late from appointment. I greeted them at the front yard and noticed the climbers we wearing spikes to climb the trees. I told them I'd have to cancel the job if they were going to use spikes to climb up the trees. I conveyed this to the foreman 3 times. I did not want spike holes scarring up the trunks of the queen palms. We had to leave the crew as we were late for a appointment. I felt a little apprehensive leaving, but this company had good reviews from Angie's List. When we came home the queen palms looked nicely trimmed and the clean up was good. The queen palms had spike marks after the 10 ft ladder mark. I could not believe they disregarded my instructions on using spikes to climb up the trees. I played phone tag with Bob for a few days and he finally talked to his foreman of 27 years and said there must of been a miscommunication on my instructions. I communicated very direct and enforced my wish that no spikes could be used while trimming the trees. My mistake is that I left a professional tree trimming crew unsupervised.

Excellent job. Olive tree was trimmed nicely so that it has a nice shape and still "bushy". They took care when removing all of the yard clippings and cleaned up the area from the big "chopping truck". Would definitely recommend.

    Aussie Landscape
When we moved into our new home about 6 months ago, the backyard was a complete mess -- literally like a jungle.  After trying to clear out a bit on our own, we got to a point where we knew we needed a professional to come in and finish the cleanup and install a new lawn in our backyard (which was at that point a huge dirt area).
We obtained estimates from several landscaping outfits, including a referral from a neighbor who recently had their lawn done, and some other highly rated Angie's List companies.  All of the folks we met with were very professional, and we probably would have been happy with their work as well had we gone with them.
However, when we met Barry for the first time for an estimate, my wife and I were thoroughly impressed.  Barry actually stopped by for an estimate during his lunch break from another job he was working on, and even though he was probably strapped for time, he was very thorough and took his time looking over the yard and chatting with us.
One of the things we were super impressed with is that we had originally planned to sod and put grass over the entire back yard, including a part of our side yard (and the other vendors gave us quotes for that).  Barry actually advised us against that, and he explained about how certain parts of the yard during the year based on our house and where we were situated may not receive the proper amount of sunlight during the winter months, and could mean that long term we wouldn't have a healthy lawn.  Even though that bit of advice may have cost him a little short term revenue, that attention to detail, honesty, passion and knowledge about his craft made us a long term partner in our eyes.
After Barry left and gave us an window when we could expect the estimate (a couple of days), my wife and I were definitely sold on Barry, and just hoping the estimate came in close to the other ones we received.  We actually were at a point that if Barry's was even a little bit higher than some of our others, we'd still be willing to go with him.  To our amazement, Barry's estimate came in lower that our others, which sealed the deal immediately.
One of the other things about Aussie Landscape is that you are dealing with not only Barry the owner, but Barry the professional who does also does the work.  He and his assistant Jim (who helped him the first day on cleanout and was also super nice) were prompt and got right to work.  Over the next several days Barry really transformed our dirtpile into a beautiful lush lawn.  He was very good about explaining things along the way and making recommendations for different types of flowers and plants that we could grow later and would complement the lawn and have a good chance of thriving in the area.
Barry finished the project on time and he even wrote up a list of future care for the lawn to keep it nice and healthy.  He even came back for a courtesy visit the week after to check up on the lawn and check the sprinkler settings to see if they needed to be adjusted.
Needless to say, it's been a little over a month since Barry put in our new lawn and it still looks gorgeous.  The recommendations and advice he gave us was great, and he didn't try to upsell us or try and change things to change up the project (which some other contractors are notorious for doing).
We would highly recommend Barry to anyone looking at doing some landscaping and want a knowledgeable, hardworking and super nice professional who truly enjoys the work he does and seems to genuinely care about the long term satisfaction and happiness of his clients.   The next time we need any sort of landscape project, we won't need to shop around - we've found our long term landscaping expert in Barry and Aussie Landscape!b

    Jorge's Tree Service
I've used Jorge's Tree Service a few times and he always has the best price. He's had the same guys on his crew for a while now - At least the guys who actually scale up the palms and trim them. They're hard workers and get the job done pretty quickly. He has at least one big truck with a chipper to shred and haul away the trimmings. They do a pretty good job cleaning up after themselves and addressing anything that drops into neighbors yards. His guys use spikes to climb up the trees, but use ladders to get up as high as they can before using the spikes (on the Queen palms especially). English seems to be a second language for Jorge, but you can get your point across. It would be nice if more of his guys spoke English because I like to have my trees trimmed in a certain way, and they sometimes forget. If I'm not right on top of them, they're trimming something that I didn't want to have trimmed - That has happened a couple times, but it's not a HUGE deal - It grows back, albeit in months.
    To summarize:
Pros: Best price around, punctual, quick, hard working crew, good cleanup.
Cons: Minor language difficulties (English vs Spanish), uses spikes (no lifts), attention to detail/requests could be better.
I'd certainly use them again... I just have to keep an eye on them when they're working on specific areas. I've always been around when they're doing the work so I don't know how they work while unsupervised.

    Sotero Fernandez Tree Service
They were able to come out and provide a bid within days of my initial call.  Scheduling an appointment was a breeze.  On the scheduled day, the crew showed up on time and did a fantastic job of removing the trees and keeping the site cleaned up.  We have already recommended them to others, including a family member who has used them as well.
