  • We had watched YouTube videos and tried to fix the heater ourselves. The technician explained why our heater worked then didn't work after our "fix". He walked us through all the steps, so we understood the problem and the repair.

  • Not good. First, they didn't honor their time of arrival. I then waited till about 2 pm to find out if they were even coming. So the installer finally shows up at 3:30 pm. Installer installed a wall furnace and I had to ask how to work unit wall control as he was quick to run out the door. Begrudgingly ran thru it as it was late in the day. Terrible feeling asking him to help me out with my new unit. Installed on a Friday. By Tuesday evening, the unit no longer worked. Wall controls did not work. Suffered a cold night. Called for service repair the next day and received major attitude from the female desk clerk. She informed me that she knew I had posted a negative review from their email to me asking how they did. She suggested that it'd be easier for me next time I contact them first before giving them a bad review. I suffered a freezing night! Of course I'm p***** off. Their heater didn't work! I really regret dealing with Stewart's Heating & Plumbing. I don't want them to come back into my home to repair, but they have to to repair their heater that didn't last even 5 days.

  • It looks expensive on the surface, but I have both done at the same time, save me time and frustration. 
    My house is 25 years old, 2 story, 2450 s.f., half of the house is high ceiling. Both furnace and heater were the original, I wanted a quieter furnace and a more efficient w/h. 
    Shopped around, got cheaper bids, however a lot 'may be additional' in other bids. I liked the committed pricing and comprehensive guarantee/warranty provided by Service Champions. 
    It turns out, heating system is a lot more than furnace, and I am glad I selected an honest contractor.

  • The staff at Advanced Home Energy were professional in every way.  They respected my schedule, worked without disruping my life, did a meticulous job, and cleaned up after themselves every day.  They were a congenial bunch.  Very thorough.

  • Knowledgeable estimator. Estimate was provided quickly, but too expensive for my budget. Apparently I have some asbestos wrapped ducts, and they told me I would have to replace them if I wanted the interior of ducts cleaned.

  • Everything went great. He was really helpful and came and did exactly everything that we asked. He also gave us so pointers on things that needed repaired. We actually went ahead and joined into their maintenance package.

  • They have multiple locations, the one that I phoned up was down in Berkley and they they do like heating and repair, I guess they put in new heaters and things like that. Our heater did not come on this morning and I phoned him up and they had somebody over here today which I thought was sort of neat. The technician was very nice, very helpful, told me what was wrong and how I could correct it myself next time. Their customer service is really neat, I phoned them up and they are able to schedule somebody to come out here to take a look at the furnace. I was really surprised that they were able to do it today. I've had them out here before, back in 1997. I haven't had any problems with the furnace until now and it's sort of interesting because it's been so old. Inside the furnace, you get a sort of condensation apparently around the switches and the condensation froze so the switches would not operate properly. He came out and can't find anything wrong, disconnected the furnace or reset the furnace, all the things reset like you're doing on your computer if you have a problem and the thing started right up. We had 3 or 4 cases like that where heaters either been under the house or in the attic and because of the cold weather, this is something that is happening and it's been cold up here, it's like 205 degrees.

  • The City of Richmond and PGE were both offering good rebates for weatherization.  I called some other contractors to get estimates, but none was as professional or diligent in assessing my needs.  The workmen were very professional, friendly, and timely, and cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. The staff handled the rebate submissions on my behalf.  I have not one criticism.

  • I contacted the company and they were able to send a technician within a day.  We thought we had the problem fixed then the heater failed to re-light the following day.  When I called Mike back to report this he wanted to send someone immediately.    We, instead, scheduled an appointment for a Saturday morning and this time the valve was cleaned more thoroughly and has now worked for over a week.   Although the fix did require two trips, I appreciate that the goal was the 'least expensive solution' and although I was willing to replace a thermostat that was less than a year old with a more expensive model, we kept the job costs down.

  • We purchased a new slide-in kitchen range and microwave hood/oven from a local appliance store. The new range would not fit completely into the range space because of our existing countertop. We tried to alter the butcher block-type countertop, however, in the process we damaged the sides of our countertop. To remedy that situation, we designed a one-piece cardboard template for our backsplash, which would also cover the damaged sides of our countertop. Because we had a small fabrication job, we were recommended to El Cerrito Heating and Sheet Metal by another Angie's List sheet metal company that was not equipped to fabricate a fine, precision backsplash. We were looking for a company that could fabricate our backsplash exactly and quickly and El Cerrito Hand SM did just that. We were estactic and pleased with this company's responsiveness.

    (1) I placed the brush stainless steel order with El Cerrito Hand SM on Monday and our backsplash was ready Tuesday morning. The fabricated backsplash was a perfect match to our design template. Easy to order and reasonable cost. (2) While talking to Rob Holland at El Cerrito Hand SM, we found out he could also attach/install the new duct work for our new microwave/hood oven as well. (The local appliance store where we purchased the microwave hood/oven was installed on Wednesday, however, the appliance store installers would not attach the new duct work to complete the install even though the new duct work was confined to the kitchen cabinet directly above the new microwave hood/oven. The duct work in our attic was already in place and vented through our roof.)

    Today, Thursday, El Cerrito Hand SM did a superb job installing our new brush stainless steel backsplash behind our new range. As a matter of fact, the backsplash looks like it is part of our new range. El Cerrito Hand SM also completed our microwave hood/oven install by attaching the new duct to the microwave hood/oven and to the existing duct work that vents through our attic.

    We found Rob Holland to be an absolute pleasure to work with--highly skilled, extremely knowledgeable and a consummate professional. Our backsplash is a fine piece of work that is a highlight in our kitchen. We will recommend El Cerrito Hand SM to all our friends and acquaintances. We will also contact them if we should need any additional work in the future.
