    Finley's Tree & Landcare Inc
Jesus and crew #4 arrived on time and went right to work. They were careful to ask my opinion and followed whatever directions I gave. One of the trees overhangs our neighbor's property. The crew asked that I get the neighbor's permission before they went over to collect fallen branches. They had their mulcher on site to chop up all the trimmings and hauled it all away. So all we had left was neatly trimmed trees, more sunshine, and a few scattered leaves. We feel very satisfied with the results and the speed. They were in and gone in about 2 hours. The orange tree looks great now, just a smaller version of its former self. We have Finley's come once a year. Our trees grow that fast. But it's worth it.

    Tree Musketeers
Luke, the current Tree Musketeer arborist, made a second visit to my home as a  follow up on the Arbutus Marina tree that was planted by the former Tree Musketeer arborist two years ago, to shape and redirect the growth of the tree. Luke is knowledgeable and very likeable, and other than a minor miscommunication on the time of his second visit, he is very professional. He is a pleasure to work with. I plan to continue to use the expertise of the Tree Musketeers to guide my Arbutus Marina tree to a healthy growth in the future.

Overall - great.  Had a bit of a communication issue initally...I had to keep calling them - which does not seem right.   After that...once they arrived they did a phenomenal job.   They removed and ground two trees/trunks, trimmed 4 trees and removed all the waste.   Once they got started - the crew was fast and efficient.   They were like monkeys climbing the trees and ensuring that the next door neighbors property was protected and everyone "ok'd the final result.    The grinder truck they brought was amazing - shredded huge limbs.
I would use them again in a heartbeat.   The yard felt denuded - but I knew it needed to get done.

I research many local providers and Finleys seemed to have the best price and review combination.  Once I call them, the gave me a quote within a couple days.  I agreed to go with them and the work was scheduled within a week.  They arrived on on time and finished the job in the specified time.  Cleaned everything up and hauled it away.
I wish they were a little more careful in removing some of the large branches from my backyard to the street.  There were a few marks on the new stucco job I recently had done to my house.  Thankfully a darker stucco, so not much of an issue.

    The Urban Lumberjack
I was impressed with Steve's attention to the trees health when he came to provide the estimate. I had several estimates, and none, except for Steve (Urban Lumberjack) noticed that a couple of the trees were not well rooted (you could move the trunks by pushing on them) which could result in a strong wind knocking them over. As a result, he suggested re-staking these trees.  He also discussed what I was trying to accomplish with the trimming (e.g., light, reaching fruit).  I actually thought a couple of my other fruit trees needed trimming, but on inspection, he persuaded me that they were not needed at this time. The price was very good for all the work done.
The team of two that trimmed the trees were polite and efficient. I will note that the only time power tools were used was for large branches, otherwise they pruned by hand. The cleaned up very well. I did not find any trimmings left over, which usually is the case. They were very careful in the removal of the fig and hibuscus, which were tied up in my drip irrigation lines. If they had cut the lines, they would have had to be repaired, but no problems.
Overall, I was most pleased and impressed. I will definitely be using them again.
The Urban Lumberjack is a small business compared to the tree trimming firms tied to big nurseries. The personal focus and attention is much appreciated! Thank you.

    Tree Musketeers

This is a top heavy organization with only ONE actual WORKER.   I started with them spring of 2014.  They went through 3 workers in my months with them.  People came and went.   Nothing ever seemed to go anywhere.  Current urban forester is outstanding person but totally hampered by his work load and the hours he's allowed to work.    I am satisfied with the final results but way overcharged for what was actually done by them.   The only volunteers they get are high school students and then only occasionally and without  advance notice.  I am over 70 and was doing manual labor - Moving gravel etc. right along side in order to get the job finally done in November 2014.    The experience was ugly.

I tried them years ago and it was a very good experience.  Felt I helped a non profit organization and at lesser or equal to professional contractors cost.  SOOO I was totally shocked by what was done and their final charges.

A crew of 8 men showed up on a Saturday morning and finished 4 hours later. They were quick, they cleaned up after themselves, and they wood chipped the removed tree right in front of the house, they came back the following Monday and ground down the stumps. I was very happy with the service. I received reminder and confirmation calls and was always kept up to date on any changes.

    Jimmie's Tree Service
I must say that once I actually spoke with Jimmie (Angie's message board did NOT work) -- got his cell phone number from a lady in his office, he took care of the problem promptly -- showed up at my house within 2 hours and scheduled the second trip of tree removal crew to my schedule. This all began on August 28 when the original crew came, removed some of the dead trees they were supposed to remove, failed to remove others and left the hedges still too tall and crooked. It had gone on all day and I was quite tired and, frankly, happy to see them go. The point of having the trees removed when we did was the have our roof replaced before the rains began. The roofers came just after the tree guys. Mr. Estrada (the roofer) pointed out a bunch of dead tree trunks they had missed -- dead birch trees completely missing their tops -- just very tall stumps, as it were. Two of them were pointed toward our roof. I sent a message to Jimmie using Angie's List message board, just as I had done to communicate with him the first time. I got no response and thought, mistakenly, that he was just ignoring me. To make matters worse, apparently his voice mail wasn't that reliable either as we left several messages using our cell phones and land line. In the meantime, Matt from Sierra Mobile Screens came to make new screens for us and told me he was also having trouble getting messages from the message board. I tried Jimmie's office one more time and a woman answered. I told her I was having trouble getting hold of Jimmie, and she volunteered his cell phone number and told me to just call it. I did. Jimmie answered and I told him his crew didn't finish the job. He was at my house promptly and scheduled a crew to return on Monday morning (at my request as I had appointments the rest of that week). They arrived this morning at 8:30am with the big bucket truck pulling a mulcher. They asked what I wanted them to do, I showed them and they started. When they took down two dead trees close together, it became obvious that a 3rd dead tree was against them -- it didn't show before as it was sandwiched between the other trees. I said I thought it should come down too. It was very tall and very rotten. I watched them throw ropes on it, aiming it where they wanted it to go and holding it fast. They brought it down exactly where they wanted it to go -- in between our garden house and a live River Birch. It was beautiful to watch. I told them they were artists! They took the front hedges down to where I had asked them which was basically all they had to do in the front. They also mulched all the limbs my bricklayers cut back so they could reinstall the brick patio. If you decide to use Jimmie's Tree Service, I would suggest you insist Jimmie and quot;Seniorand quot; (NOT Junior) come to collect the check when the crew is finished.

This was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
The consultation:  Alan came out and listened to what we were hoping to accomplish for our yard (create privacy in the near-term and install pavers in the long-term).  He graciously drew up a design for the whole backyard with recommendations for the types of trees we should use to meet our needs.
The quote:  The quote was competitive.  It was way more reasonable than the first quote we received and on par with the third quote we received.
The work:  Alan's crew was professional and friendly.  They finished the work in accordance with the proposed price and schedule.  They did a fantastic job and even went the extra mile to replant some displaced sunflowers (which are now thriving).
The service:  We were unhappy with where the tree was planted (my fault).  Alan sent his guys out the very next day - they had it perfectly relocated within fifteen minutes.
Overall:  I appreciate the level of service and competitive price.  Many contractors act as though you should be grateful they are there.  Not so with Finley Landcare - they honesty care about the customer as evidenced by their willingness to go the extra mile.  In addition to the sunflowers and relocation of the tree, Alan came out on my request to inspect how the trees were doing in their new home - as you might guess, they are thriving.
Recommendation:  If you are looking for any kind of landscape, hardscape, or tree service, give Finley's a chance.  They are sure to impress with both their professionalism and competitiveness.

They're good. They're a non-profit organization. The quality of their work is excellent. They're very punctual, professional and reasonable. They work with you on whatever you need. They come when you want them to and tell you when they're gonna come. They're just great people.
