    In January or February 2011 we had a Weatherite sales rep come to our home and take us through her power point presentation. She showed us all the samples for floor tiles, cabinet wood samples, stain color, shower stall/tub materials, etc. We had already received 4 bids from other places and Weatherite came in with the lowest bid. We signed a contract with them and that night the sales rep stated that work would start no later than mid-April and would take approxinately 2 weeks to finish both bathrooms. It took almost 4 weeks. Within a few days, they sent out one of their 'contractors' to take all the measurements in the 2 bathrooms. That night we gave them a check so that all the materials could be ordered. After that we did not hear from them, except the sales rep to say that the faucet we ordered was no longer available. Around mid-April, not hearing from them and needing to know when they would be starting so we could plan accordingly to take some time off from work, we called them. We had to call quite a few times. All we got was the run around. After getting quite angry with them, they finally stated they would be sending their 'finest' worker out on May 2, 2011  at 9:00am to start the remodel. He showed up at 10:30am, worked til 12:00 noon, took a lunch break in which he came back at 1:00pm then napped in his truck until 1:30pm. He worked until 3:30pm and left. That pretty much sums up the work ethic the whole time.
    Once work started it was one big frustrating ordeal. The bathroom cabinet which was made to order was stained the wrong stain. We ordered a dark grey stain and it was stained a medium coffee color. The doors on the cabinet were hung incorrectly and had to be re-hung. The shower doors were installed incorrectly so that water pooled where it shouldn't be pooling so the entire framing unit for the shower had to be ripped out and redone. The wrong shower head was installed, but the worker had already cut a hole in the shower wall so he installed the correct shower head right next to the other one. The toilet had not been sealed correctly. They ran out of the dark slate tile that we had ordered and had to live with a half-installed tile floor for over a week while they were trying to find the correct color match (why didn't they order enough to begin with?). When the contractor was installing the baseboards he wanted to lay the base board right over the wall heat register instead of cutting the base board to fit. I had to tell him no and to please cut the base board to accomodate the wall register (duh). The drywall that was installed looked like a jigsaw puzzle, not whole sheets, It really looked like scrap pieces being used up. None of the edges met, leaving around 1/4" gap between the pieces of drywall. This was just some of the things with the downstairs bathroom.

    The upstairs bathroom started pretty much the same way as the downstairs bathroom. Just one big blunder after another. The cabinet was to be made so that the left side of the cabinet would go against the wall. They made it the opposite. The marble countertop was made wrong too. Both had to be sent back. The wrong light fixture was sent and had to be re-ordered. The tile floor is a mess and needs to be replaced. The plumbing done in the upstairs bathroom was not tested so when the first time the shower was used there was major leakage in the wall which came down into the downstairs bathroom. So the new downstairs bathroom ceiling had to be cut open in order to find out what was wrong. After cutting 3 large holes in the ceiling they found the problem. Of course, they insinuated that plumbing mess was not their fault and our plumbing was just old. The toilet was not sealed either.

    Having documented all the problems we met with the 'big boss' of Weatherite before handing over the last installment payment. He was rude, cocky and even though he agreed that some of the work done was sub-par (my phrase) he maintained that it would still pass inspection. It was a very aggravating experience. He knocked some money off the last installment and said they would send someone out to seal the toilets and re-do the tile floor upstairs.

    When you first have the sales rep come over they will tell you that all their workers are Weatherite employees, that they don't subcontract work out to others. We think these are '1099' employees. The guy who did the work on our bathrooms kept showing up in his own business truck, with his business name on his truck.

    Our experience with the Weatherite employees was not a good one either. Once the sales rep got our money, that was it. She wouldn't return phone calls or emails. At the time we paid our second installment our case was handed over to another employee who supposedly handled the ordering of all the materials. She would not return phone calls and would not keep us informed of when the work would start. We would have to call repeatedly to get her to return a call and when she did she was very rude.

    The point is, go with a company that is going to do the work right the first time. Go with a company that treats their clients respectfully. Since our experience with Weatherite we have found that they have had several lawsuits against them. I can't state this enough: in my opinion, DO NOT go with Weatherite. Do your homework first, check out their reviews on Angie's List, Judy's List, the list and the others out there. We didn't and we really paid for our lack of researching Weatherite first.

    Well, what can I say? It WAS a great experience but it turned into a nightmare. Unfortunately my previous report was done before he finished the work. He was 95% finished and took another job. I was very understanding about it and he promised he would finish the work on the weekends. After that, he promised many MANY times that he would come and would not show up or even call to let me know he wasn't coming which threw a wrench in my own plans for the weekends. He showed up pouting and whining that he had underbid my project though I paid him 25% over the bid and I never argued once about the price. He is a very young immature boy and though he started out with good intentions, decided to blame everyone else for his poor bidding and it took him three MORE months and threat of a lawsuit to get him to finally finish his work. He was treated with kindness and understanding and basicly spit in my face. Do not hire this guy as he can not show maturity and professionalism. It was a very unfortunate experience and could have been easily prevented but he decided to not take any accountability for his own actions. An unnecessary sad ending.
