Transmission Service reviews in El Dorado Hills

Needed a transmission rebuilt in an Isuzu Rodeo and shopped around for someone knowledgeable about this particular transmission and getting the repair done at a fair price. Mike at Capitol answered all my questions and is quite knowledgeable. The transmission work was completed on the date promised and more importantly the transmission is performing very well; no leaks, shifts well, no problems. The ultimate test for the transmission work done will be longer term but can't answer that question right now. Price was more competitive than others.

It went very well. My father was a mechanic so I know how hard it is to find a reputable mechanic. Mike was very professional and knowledgable. I brought the car in for an estimate. I had already gotten two other estimates. Mike drove the vehicle and quicly diagnosed the issues. I knew what some of the problems were as my father was a mechanic and I usually do my own servicing. The major issue was the Torque Converter. The secondary issues were the transmissions age and mileage (163K). It appears the torque converter was failing and as such could be contaminating the main transmission since both are hydrailically connected. As the torque converter fails and develops metal shavings it will transition into transmission causing additional issues. Anyway, to make a long story short the transmission was rebuilt (Torque converter, clutch pack, bad 2nd gear roller brg and bad 2nd gear, 2/3 speed modulator, etc...) I just drove the car home and it shifted smoothly and discretly. It shifted better than when I bought it when it had 67K miles. The replacement parts used were of better quality than OEM and the new programing was done. Mike showed me the old damaged parts. Lastly I got a 36k/5yr warrantee. The only other manufacturer to provide a 36k warrantee is ATK Rebuilders. I chose Capitol Transmission (Mike) based on Angie's list and I was not dissapointed. Also, the shop is still in business during these hard economic times; a + (reputable). I must bring car back in 2 weeks for a ck and every yr thereafter to maintain warrantee in force. All other shops only provided 1yr/12k miles and no checks after installed. I was pleasantly surprised with Mike's knowledge, his history with Honda Transmissions, the price, level of service, and his relaxed but professional attitude. An added benefit is that Mike is actually a very friendly and pleasant person. I recommend Capitol Transmission for transmission work.

My wife's 2003 Corolla all of a sudden got this horrible grinding noise as she was driving home. She was less than a mile away when this happened and she was able to get home. The car's transmission locked up just outside our driveway. As we are still fairly new to the area, we just sent the car, via towtruck, to the Toyota dealership, where they quoted us $3900 for new transmission and clutch. That was unacceptable to us. So I searched and called around to find better quotes from transmission shops that had gotten good reviews online. I ended up settling on Red D Transmission. They agreed with the dealerships assessment that the problem was a pinion bearing gone bad, and that it would involve a rebuild, and that since the car was almost at 100,000 miles, it would be a good time to replace the clutch, since most of the labor would already be included. I negotiated with Wes, to get a flat rate for the repair, each taking some risk as to the total damage. In the end, I am happy with the service I received, though it was helpful to have called around and have other quotes in hand.

Determined it was a pressure switch. Fixed it in a few hours.
