    M&M Construction & Home Design
Swimmingly! They were responsive to alterations we introduced along the way and great to work with. The care and attention to detail show that they really care about doing a good job. The project wrapped faster than expected and we're ecstatic with the old-made-new-again room.

Feraru & Associates Building & Design Inc
Sorin Feraru recently did a full kitchen remodel, including an addition to the front of the house, and he and his team did an excellent job. The addition went up very quickly and our neighbors were impressed with how fast they work, even while maintaining a high quality of craftsmanship. We had many issues with PG&E due to a gas meter relocation, and they worked around any delays and worked along side PG&E to complete the job. Any other issues we had along the way, Sorin immediately came over to help resolve them, even on the weekends. It was a pleasure to work with Sorin and his team and we now have a beautiful new kitchen to enjoy.

    FRICK FLOORING & INSTALLATION

A neighbor recommended John Frick and he turned out to be a rare find: someone who is experienced, does all of the work himself, and takes pride in a job well done.

I hired him to install vinyl sheet flooring in a small bathroom.  His proposal read: ?Remove existing floor and underlayment.  Furnish and install underlayment.  Install sheet flooring?labor only.  Furnish and install base.  Remove and replace toilet.?  Although I didn?t purchase the flooring through him, he phoned my chosen supplier to be sure I was ordering the right amount.  Then he picked up the material and delivered it to my home.

During the installation, Mr. Frick discovered and took care of some areas of dry rot.  Also, he discovered that the toilet flange had not been properly connected to the sewer line(!) and, later, e-mailed a photo that I could transmit to a plumber when requesting service.  He did some additional chores at no extra charge.

If you are looking for a flooring installer who does fine work, has a pleasant personality, and ?goes the extra mile,? John Frick is your man.

    Crowworks Construction
Both Crow and Andrew were extremely professional, punctual and efficient.  The job required a lot of creativity and patience, which Crow had in abundance.  He offered helpful suggestions to make the move work.  He continually kept me updated on progress and let me know what was left to do.  We had to be at our jobs while the project was being done so Crow just came and went as needed (and graciously reminded me every morning not to set the home alarm system!).
Also, many other contractors did not think there was enough space for the move.  Crow, however, measured the entire area and figured out a way to maneuver the fridge into the space.  I asked several contractors for estimates and most were not even close to the estimate Crow gave me.   Crow's price is extremely fair.
Thanks to Crow, our kitchen has a lot more area in which to install cabinets and the fridge is now in a custom built space.  Custom built space for the fridge looks like it has always been that way!   Clearly Crow is a perfectionist and it is reflected in his finished work. The finished project was amazing!!
In addition to the project for which we asked, Crow and Andrew took care of a very inconvenient plumbing problem under our house. When they noticed the funky smell in our garage (we didn't know where it was coming from and kept looking for problems somewhere in the garage), they invstigated and found the source of the problem.  A main pipe, located under the house, was old and corroded to the point it had a hole the size of a half dollar in it! It had been leaking for sometime and there was a large puddle of stagnant water.  This leaking pipe was completely unrelated to the project they were hired to do.  Crow and Andrew took the time to replace the corroded pipe, clear out the stagnant water and put kitty litter under the home to sanitize the area and absorb the excess water and smell.
I will use Crow for any additional projects we may have in the future.  He has a wait list but it is more than worth the wait!   I simply cannot say enough good things about Crow!

    INTEGRITY HANDYMAN
It did not go well.  He came to my home and talked to my tenant.  We communicated by telephone and email.  The payments totaled $3500.00.  I paid him by credit card. He did not do any of the work and then he disappeared.

    Crowworks Construction
Crow was a delight to work with. The finished project was very close to the projected budget, it was done on time and we are thrilled with the results. We ended up feeling like we got so much more for our budget with Crow than we could have with anyone else. This is in large part because he did everything in his power to help us get the second bathroom we wanted on the budget we had. He suggested places we could go to find the best deal on materials and saved us hundreds of dollars. He was very clear about what would add significant cost and what would be the more economical route. He was excellent about communicating at each step in the process, both about the budget and the timeline. I never felt like there were any unwelcome surprises with Crow. We really liked that Crow was on-site each day with one (very nice, respectful and professional) assistant. There was a reassuring sense of accountability since he was doing half the work himself.
I would definitely hire Crow again and I will highly recommend him to friends and family.

    HAHN CONSTRUCTION
The entire job took from September 2010 to April 2011. Quite a long time. But, this complex many component job was being supervised remotely, communication was via email and photos, and the large number of interactions to obtain permits and inspections were not really under Andy's complete control. So, I don't really fault him for that. Andy thoroughly reported progress via email and sent extensive photos of the work being done. The finished product was very fine. He was courteous in all interactions, even when clearly there were frustrations with inspection schedules and the like. There's no doubt I'd pick him again to do a complex job and trust him to do the job professionally and take additional requests in stride.

A few details: The selection of the items was left up to Andy. On the one occasion that we didn't agree, even after purchase, Andy was willing to return the item and purchase another one more to my liking. Nice. One another occasion when some of the exterior painting on the windows was a little sloppy, as noted from a photo, he went back to touch it up at no additional cost. The new electrical panel and ground rod came up a bit as an afterthought, and was really the last item to complete. Andy found several subcontractors (finally one with a decent price) and scheduled the PGand E personnel and subcontractor to perform the work.

Carroll Jr & Son Handy Man
Mr. Carroll was really trying to be responsive to what I wanted and was asking a lot about what I wanted, which was good and I liked that. However, there were a lot of things that I didn't like. Firstly, he shouldnt have done all that work since he isnt licensed. He did a lot of things for me, but he didnt know what he was doing and he didnt do the job. When they removed the floor, there was a big gap under the kitchen door. They didnt have the carpentry skills or the construction background to deal with it. So they kind of left that. He had a couple of ideas of what to do, but I knew that they were wrong. He had already messed up a bunch of stuff. So I didnt want to let him mess up anything else. They accidentally removed some of the tiles under the back kitchen door threshold when they were removing the tiled floor in the kitchen. The repair that they did was not waterproof. I had to redo all of that myself. When they ordered the granite countertops, he went through a lot of trouble to find a place that had a good deal for me and I did appreciate that. However, he didnt know how to describe a countertop. The countertop didnt fit right. Mr. Carroll made his carpenter make the template for the countertop and then took it to the granite guys. They then cut it to match the template that he gave them, but the template was wrong because he didnt have the basic carpentry skills. So there is a big gap now which I may have to fix by cutting a piece of wood and then finishing it to look like granite. I asked him to put an outlet in the tiled area. He ran the electrical cord up to the tile and its a totally out of code electrical thing. There is another thing where I had installed some built-in cabinets or bookcases. I told them to sheetrock around it. They then took them out and put them back wrongly in different order. They werent of the right size. I then had to take all the shelves out and cut it back. I then had them sheetrock around that area and we were having them put the trim in. I didnt let them put the trim in without me watching it because I knew that his carpenter would mess up with the carpentry work. At one point, when they were putting the trim in I noticed that it wasnt level. He showed me the level marks while installing the granite countertops and he asked me if it was okay. I didnt want the water to drain on the kitchen floor while installing the countertop and I wanted it to drain in the sink, but it was all on the floor. They installed the dishwasher in a weird way. They kind of attached it inside the cabinets in such a way that they couldnt pull it out. They had to come back to figure out how to get the dishwasher out of here because its not working. So we complained, but I dont want him to come back and put it in. I have to figure out how to reattach it so that the doors dont fall out of the counters. So I wasnt happy with their work. I got to the point where I could see that their skills were so inadequate. One of the outlets they put in kind of wiggles. Its sort of pulling off the drywall when you plug it in and out. There is a lot of cleanup to do. I didnt contact Mr. Carroll to talk to him about it. I didnt want to interact with him anymore. Their price was inexpensive and good. He wasnt definitely up to my job. He didnt show good judgment. He totally ignored me when I made suggestions. They were very slow since they didnt know what they were doing. They were here for a long time and its a very small apartment. They were here for like six weeks. They were nice enough to talk to, but I needed good work. I would not use their services again.

    TULIP HARDWOOD FLOORS
They did a fabulous job. They were spectacular, and I am 100% happy with them. We asked a number of people to give us quotes and one of our neighbors had used Tulip. We considered our neighbors opinion and also looked at their website. Then they came out and gave us an estimate. It was a long and complicated process. Their work is of very high quality. They set high standards so that they do high quality work. They were very professional throughout. The people involved in the job including the manager were very high caliber professionals. We got what we paid for. I think you need to pay that much to get this good job done.
