Driveway Pavers reviews in El Cajon

    Joe's Paving Co Inc
It was a very challenging job, we had a very steep hill with a crumbling road and several of the other contractors declined even bidding on it.  We had drainage problems and the road was so bad it had to be replaced, an overlay would not work. We obtained a lot of estimates and after talking with Joe's paving it was clear these guys knew what they were talking about. Joe's bid wasn't the cheapest at first glance but when we saw his bid included 3" thick of asphalt, not 1.5" like the others, included the grading that needed and included a seal coat, his estimate was clearly the "best value" and would give the best and longest lasting  results.   The fact that he had his own equipment and  had done difficult jobs like ours was a comfort.
This was a community road with 8 homeowners, all with different opinions about how it should be done.    Sean,  the owner personally came out to speak to all the homeowners and explain the process and made some changes to accommodate each of us. It  took us some time to coordinate everyone's schedule and Joe's paving was excellent to deal with every step of the way.   They showed up on time with a full crew of guys.  He knew we had 8 homeowner's who needed access to their homes and so they worked late to finish the entire job in 2 days, other contractors were quoting 4 and 5 days.  After day 1 we walked the road with the site foreman and made a few changes which they accommodated at no charge!
The results are fantastic, all the homeowners were happy with the results, they were really a pleasure to work with and I would use them again in a heartbeat.  If you like value, quality and professionalism, you will love them.

They marked ALL the areas for repair that were discussed in the bid.  They posted signs well before the job date to forwarn of the upcoming road closure.  They had all electric/cable/gas lines marked.  They arrived @7:00am as promised and got the entire job
done by 3:00pm two days later as promised.  To meet this deadline AND with rains forcasted, they worked from 7:00am til sunset.
The quality of the repairs and the repaving was XLNT and still is after the rains that came two days later.

    Cisneros Paving
Although now based in the Riverside CA area, this Habran Cisneros grew up in San Diego and visits often, so he did not hesitate to submit a bid for the work we wanted done. His first job was to take out a substantial bump in our driveway that also involved removing an large invading tree root. He dug a trench about three feet deep, cut and removed the root, refilled and compacted the dirt to smooth the grade and replaced the asphalt. I couldn't have asked for a more thorough or competent job. He also explained that because the offending tree is still standing near the driveway, this fix would last from 5 to 10 years before the root regrew and disturbed the driveway. We chose to let the tree remain, but are glad that Habran explained our choices and the consequences. At this time, he also did some minor grading, laid hardware cloth, then D G rock and compacted it to rehabilitate a nasty garden path. We couldn't be happier with the service, the cost and the results in both cases.
The second job performed in November 2012 was to remove some slate pavers, do more substantial regrading and lay more D G rock in the backyard, connecting to the existing path. This was a much larger area, with more challenging topography and the need to move and replace many large potted plants. The regrading involved digging much farther than needed simply to grade in order to remove large protruding granite rocks.  As before, this work was performed by Habran and his crew very carefully and professionally. They extended the path slightly beyond the estimated end in order to achieve a better overall look.
I am extremely satisfied with the work performed by this company and recommend them to anyone needing asphalt installation, repair, slurry seal coating, concrete grading, gravel and D G or tree stump and root removal.

    AAA Sealcoating & Paving
Punctual, hardworking two young men--did just what they said they would do.  My only problem was that the process/material they used (asphalt mixed with clay so that material was liquid at room temperature) did not fill in and cover over the cracks in my driveway as I had expected the process would do.  And...the coarser material that they used to fill in the larger cracks is quite noticeable and crude looking.  Just not the process I would choose again--I'd go with a different material and process (at the sacrifice of greater cost) in order to have the finished job look better.  Think I got my money's worth, but not what I expected and want next time around.

    Joe's Paving Co Inc
I made a call into Joe's Paving a few months ago.  The person who answered the phone told me he would come out during the week to give me an estimate.  However, he never showed.  I decided to give Joe's Asphalt another try a few months later.  Sean, the owner, was extrememly apologetic and prompt.  He went out that week and gave me the estimate.  I felt the estimate was too high.  Sean spoke directly with me and worked with me to get the price I was happiest with.  The job was completed within one week of the estimate.  Once the job was complete, Sean contacted me to make sure I was satisfied with the job.  The job was well down.  I am very happy with Joe's Paving and would highly recommend this business.

They did a good job and were courteous. The only problem is that I had to schedule the top coat job a few times, as rain delayed the project. I had to contact them to reschedule, and I think they should have called me.

    Alpine Paving Inc
Alpine's president, Mr. Scott Lacour, who is also the primary estimator and lead crewman, visited to estimate the scope of the job. It was a pleasure to talk with him about our project and about asphalt paving in general.  After a careful examination of the site and the required measurement were taken, he said he would prepare the proposal, but that work could not start until "after the first of the year," which is a common situation during the holiday season.
The proposal did not arrive until three weeks later, which is why I give Alpine Paving a 'B' for responsiveness, but I suspect that the proposal would have come sooner at a different time of the year.
The estimate was quite reasonable, in my layman's opinion, and I had seen some of their work previously, so I accepted it without comparison to others.  Very shortly thereafter, Mr. Lacour called to schedule the project.
The work crew, including Mr. Lacour, arrived shortly before 8AM on the chosen date.  At precisely 8:01, the compressor started and the jackhammer work began.  The workers were very careful and apparently skillful as the project proceeded.  The site was kept tidy and the project was finished by 2PM.  All debris was removed and the site cleaned.
Working with Scott Lacour was a pleasure.  I earnestly recommend this company for asphalt paving.

    Freedom Asphalt
They only dug up one area out of the two driveways. They did not repair the driveway with liquid asphalt, but instead used a pebble substance that does not match the current driveway like they said it would. I have called them to come back out to fix the problem, but have not seen them.

    J & S Asphalt Paving Sealing
When they did the driveway they took off the top off the septic tank but I had told the supervisor that there was the septic tank under the driveway. The supervisor was not there when they took the top off and they said that was not their problem and they refused to pay for it. I turned it to my home owners and they paid for it. I assume they knew it was $4000-5000. I had to call them back to have them fix the curb. They also took out a water line underneath. They were taking out the old driveway and replacing it with the new one. One of their people fixed the water tank but he was not a plumber and it was very shoddy. A friend of my daughter came over who was a plumber and he said if someone drives on it, it would break. So he fixed it and A& J paid for it which was less than $400 but they did not pay for the septic tank. They did the damage and were not ready to fix it. Their work was okay.
