Woodworking reviews in East Palo Alto

  • All went very well. We had worked with SGK before, installing some downstairs windows, and felt very comfortable going back to them again. Within a few days of calling them, Frank Jewett, the window sales person for our area, came out to the house and spent an hour and a half or so discussing possibilities for each of our 3 upstairs bedrooms and one bathroom. Frank was very knowledgeable, providing a lot of detail and answering all of our questions. Two or three weeks later, we scheduled installation dates (2.5 days).
We had two installers for this job. The lead was an older man, Gocha, from the country of Georgia, and he was working with his son-in-law. The son-in-law spoke no English, having very recently arrived in the states. Gocha had some language limitations (he has been here several years), but could always make himself understood and we could always find a way to communicate what we needed to. The two of them were incredibly hard workers, and Gocha checked in with us regularly to make sure every detail was correct and to our satisfaction. Our front door installation was particularly challenging, so we totally appreciated their great attention to detail.
They cleaned up well and were obviously pleased with their craftsmanship, as well they should have been.
The only reason I gave them a "B" on pricing is that I'm not really how to rate them in this category. We originally selected them because of comments on Angie's List, with folks feeling they definitely got their money's worth. We do, too, but whether that's an "A" or a "B," I'm not sure.

  • All went perfectly. I called Cliff to describe the jobs. After talking with him, I felt pretty confident he was the right guy to do the work, and we arranged a time for him to come the following week.
He first assessed the jobs, and then talked with us about what he needed to do. The first three tasks all presented some challenges, but he went right to work and eventually problem-solved all. (This included running to our local OSH to get some needed materials.) He worked hard throughout, consulting along the way, performing each job to our satisfaction. We definitely feel like we got our money's worth and would not hesitate to call Cliff again or recommend him to others.

  • I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my kitchen and Mike helped me from the design to choosing the appliances and final inspection. It was very easy. The project took about 4 weeks total.  I had hardwood floor done, custom cabinets, counter-top, back splash, electrical, plumbing and painting. The best part was dealing with only one constructor and being able to see what the kitchen was going to look like before the remodeling started.

  • We loved the end result and we will use Ari (from Everlast contruction) again for bathroom remodeling and updating the backyard
We interacted with Ari (owner) from start to finish. When we were evaluating Ari, he was able to give us examples of the work that he had recently done. He was able to quickly evaluate if the kitchen wall we wanted to remove was load bearing or not. Ari took care of getting permits from the city and getting all city inspections completed. we usually communicated through email and he was always responsive. Since we were away working most of the day during the week and not available to meet in person, Ari always made time to meet with us (when needed) over the weekends or late in the day during the week.

  • Everlast Construction help us with our dream Kitchen & Master bathroom. We are very happy from the process and the final result! Very good costumer service. Ari answer all of our questions along the way and make it very easy on us. Communication is the key to success in this kind of projects he always said to me and he is 100% right!
We selected Everlast out of 5 companies that bid on the project. Everlast was not the cheapest and not the most expensive compare others. We choose Everlast Construction because they had great reference from they previous clients. I was impressed with the connection they have with all of there clients and i wanted to get this kind of service. In the end the whole work was 100% to my satisfaction. Perfectly design to my needs fully customize cabinets with special sizes and soft closing gadgets that makes my kitchen quite and fun to use. I love spend time in my new kitchen thanks to Everlast
& Ari. The bathroom is just as amazing the whole process was fantastic and again thanks to Ari & Everlast Construction.
Couldn't be happier with the results!

  • Where to begin? I didn't even have a  Angie`s List  before this whole ordeal.  I got myself

into a really tight deadline and had 3 weeks to redo the entire living room and

    kitchen.

Got several bids, some shady, some professional, some cheaper and some

more expensive.  I found Everlast Construction through here, yelp is my

bible.  I had seen the endless array of 5 star reviews.  I told

myself it is probably rigged, or the contractor has friends and families

writing reviews for him left and right.

At the end, I got 6 contractors to bid on the place; Everlast Construction

was definitely on the higher end.  I met  Ari, very professional very laid back, non

stress.  Was always prompt in answering phone calls, honest.  I got

his bid, and granted it was higher than the average Based on The reference List

that they provide me.  I told myself this would be a great experience, or

a miserable one.  Within a couple of days, the walls were torn down to

their studs; found that the place had mold and termites.  Of course there

were additional costs that incurred along the way.  However, did the guys

deliver or what? They worked for me endlessly every day for 3 weeks. I don't

think they even got one day of a break.  What a crew, Alberto the foreman

very talented.  Great attention to detail, dry walls were placed,

impeccable job with the plant.  They respected the place like their own,

their attention to detail was meticulous, everything you could imagine, from

the walls, to the floors, to updating the electrical outwork, to creating a new

closet space and clearing up the old disgusting kitchen.  As OCD, as we

all can be, I wanted daily updates, and for the most part Ari would call and

give me the low down on what was going on.  Always honest, always full of

integrity.  I couldn't have been happier with this group.

After  18 days, everything has been completed and I couldn't

have been happier with the entire renovation, the whole house looks completely

brand new.  On one of these days, I dropped by 9 pm on a Sunday and I saw

one of the crew members painting at 9 pm at night!!!!  Who does that?

They knew my deadline was tight, and I'm surprised they delivered.

Half the contractors in this town are shady, but did I luck out with

Marco and his crew.  This group has been GOLDEN to work with.  From

the moldings, to the paint, to the walls and windows, they have done an

impeccable job.  From now on, any renovation project (which there will be),

this group will definitely get first dibs.  I felt safe and comfortable

leaving my keys with them. I had a new bathroom installed, and there was some

leakage issues so I asked this group to hold off using the bathroom until I get

it fixed.  They never once used the bathroom, another contractor did and I

fired them on the spot.  We all have a way of keeping tabs.

To make a long story short, (I know a bit too late), if you want a company that

has integrity, hard work, and more important good quality work, then Everlast

Construction  is for you.  The costs

of repairs added up after the initial assessment, but unfortunately this is the

nature of the beast.  Marco was so awesome, that he added the Air

conditioning repair for me and the black splash on the house.  This is the first

time I'm creating a yelp account and a yelp review, but this company really

deserves it.  I hope you all have a good experience as I did.  I

truly feel lucky having found them.  Good luck!

  • Each of the custom marble and granite pieces were made perfectly, as ordered.  The installations were done smoothly and professionally despite the difficulty involved in 2 of the pieces (needing 6 men to move the pieces).  They guarantee the work and have been wonderful about returning to take care of little problems that have come up.

  • Bruce is simply amazing. A true craftsman. And in an age where everyone specializes, Bruce is still flexible in his ability and attitude towards custom jobs.

Upon the birth of our second child we realized we needed to convert a drawing room into an additional bedroom. Painting the walls pink and yellow as our daughter desired was easy. But covering up the fireplace so that it would function as a piece of built in cabinetry was a challenge. We did not want to demo the fireplace because it is now a relic of a bygone era in Ca. and we would never be allowed to install an other one. So the answer was a clever cabinet that would conceal it without destroying it. Bruce to the rescue! I gave him a copy of my visio drawings that I had created to sketch out what we were thinking and he quickly analyzed them, pointed out flaws, provided some options for material and once we were settled on all that, he purchased the material and got to work. In 4 days he was done. He sub contracted The painting to his regular guy -Ed who also did superb work. Total damage including an additional job to install custom shelving system into our new kitchen pantry and paint it, was about 2200. This was not the cheapest option I could find but we wanted quality custom work. Some cabinetry companies quoted as high as 7k!

He was even able to install everything and clean up to perfect condition while we were away so that when we returned our daughter would be surprised with her brand new bedroom complete with custom in-built cabinet for her doll house and books! (aka the fireplace!)

I would definitely hire Bruce again in a heartbeat.

  • He was always on time, cleaned up at the end of each day, and minimized the impact on our daily routine as much as possible. He was always ready and willing to address our questions as well as providing suggestions for ways to improve functionality. He worked smoothly with our granite company, plumber, and electrician.
His quote and time frame were right on the money.
The quality of his work, as well as the materials provided, were absolutely top notch. I recommend him without reservation. We will use hime again.
    A true professional.

  • Doug provided excellent guidance from the beginning of the project by coming over to look at the house and seeing how the flooring would fit in with our lifestyle and pets.  He gave us the pro's and con's to the choices we had. All along the way he took care of insidentals (broken thermastats, latches, etc) that he noticed along the way.  He was meticulous from start to finish.
Doug gave much guidance as to how to care for and protect our new beautiful  floor.  His obvious pride in workmanship shows throughout. I would not hesitate recommending him to my closest friends for any flooring work.
