    Juan's Landscaping
I found him online and everything about them was great, except one thing. When it came to showing up, they were a little bit unreliable. They came hours late one day. We had to reschedule the appointment one day because he underestimated how long it would take. He came out in the spring and then it took me a really long time to find the trees that I wanted and then he came out in the fall to plant them. Once they were here to work, they did a great job. They got it done and cleaned up after themselves, were polite and very professional. Everything was great; it was just the trouble getting them out here initially. His prices were very good. After I waited for a while, I finally called them and they said that he was on their way. He sent me an email, instead of calling to let me know that he needed to change the day, so I did not get it.
There a couple of times when I was out looking at trees and I would send an email asking about the trees that I was looking at and I did not hear back from him. I would use him again because of the work that he did and their prices are so good.

The guy got back to me quickly, his price was fair, and he also made a few suggestions regarding lawn and garden upkeep for the house that we weren't going to be living in for awhile.  Because I forgot to give him a call, he followed up with me which I thought was nice of him to put in the extra effort.

    Arborist Waraner Tree Experts
It went beautifully from beginning to end!  I called for an appointment, which was made quickly and courteously by Kim, and Dustin followed up with a visit to see my trees and give me advice on what to do.  He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional and I felt confident in his advice.  The price he quoted was around some other estimates I was given, but his included the grinding out of the stump and new tree, so I felt that I received the best value for my money with them.  Once I decided to go with them, their team was out within a week and did all the work within about 5-6 hours.  I already had permission from my back fence neighbor to go over and clean up any branches that fell into his yard, since the pine tree had overhanging branches there, but didn't have to - these people were amazing!  I thought they'd just go up and start cutting, but it was like watching choregraphy.  They would wrap branches with ropes and guide them to where they should land.  Nothing ever touched my neighbor's yard!  They were also careful with my existing plants, moving the ones in harm's way and replanting them when they were finished.  I have a few ongoing questions with the new tree and they are still helping with that.  Many thanks to Dustin and Kim and their crew; I would highly recommend this firm to anyone.

    LEBEC Inc
I already had a landscape design, but when Ed arrived he suggested some practical and aesthetic changes.  Boulders and mounds were added strategically to create a more pleasing design and plants were moved to gain maximum effect.  Ed's crew began on a Wednesday and finished the job within two weeks (few rain days).  First they had to demo the existing plants and back yard lawn.  They also removed a large wooden arbor and placed it in a better place in the yard.  They prepared the soil and planted fruit trees, shrubs, flowers and lawn. Ed also suggested using a black (or tan) pebble as ground cover - looks fantastic!  What sold us on the quality of his work was the way the workers planted the three Redwood trees.  The trees have invasive roots, but Ed and crew, after digging a large hole, made a cylinder that would prevent the roots from traveling horizontally.  Instead the roots will be encouraged to grow downward.  This step took time and a lot of hard work to accomplish, but I feel confident that my neighbors will not be bothered by the roots. Outdoor lights now showcase this beautiful landscape.
When the work was finished, Ed walked around the yard with us to make sure we were pleased.  We are now using his maintenance crew to keep it all looking fabulous on a weekly basis.

    BUD's Gardening & Landscaping
The only issue I'm having now is there is a patch in my new lawn (in the area where the gas leak was) that is starting to turn brown. The rest of the lawn looks green and healthy.

When I initially spoke with Bud's Landscaping I asked him if it would be necessary to replace the soil and he indicated that he would just fertilize. In retrospect I should have told him to replace the old soil at least in the area where the gas was leaking. However, it would have been good business on Bud's part if he would have advised me to replace.

NOTE: The leak was fixed by PG&E prior to the new sod being laid.

I went to purchase some plants. The owner gave me advice regarding what plants would grow best in Discovery Bay soil instead of having to learn on my own. At Asahi Nursery they make sure you get the best product for the your specific type landscaping environment. I purchased all the seasonal plants I needed for under $200.
