AEverlast ConstructionAriel has been a dream to work with. We had to fire our last contractor as he was just too slow! Ariel came in and did a HUGE remodel in three months. This included: bathrooms, painting interior exterior, foundation work around the entire house, pavers, pool, outdoor kitchen, flooring, etc After feeling like we had the right team on our hands, we hired them again for a kitchen remodel! The kitchen included demoing of a wall, moving the sink from the wall to the island, whole new design! a ton of electrical and plumbing work,countertop, backsplash, etc. The beauty about Ariel is that not only does he do quality work, you can actually get a hold of him- and within hours! If you've ever or never done a construction job on your home, communication is one of the biggest areas that people complain the most about. Ariel is upfront, responsive, and dependable- and very reasonable financially. He's also pretty creative and solution oriented. We had a Ariel made me feel valued as a customer as well, which, you just don't really get in this industry. It's a relief to finally treat someone with kindness and get it in return! All in all, we wouldn't think twice about going with another contractor for our home remodeling needs. ASOD Home GroupMy wife and I hired Oren at SOD Home Group for our new home build in mountain view, CA. My wife is very detail oriented and is very organized. She and Oren hit it off from the very beginning because of this. On our first meeting, Oren insisted that our builder be present and he took the time to ask about his supply sources and asked many questions about the build time line, looked at our house plans, and offered a new perspective on some planning issues we hadn’t thought of. He literally went room by room asking questions about my likes and dislikes, my wife’s likes and dislikes, and our three children (two boys 16 and 8 and my daughter who is 5). We have loved how Oren compiled the list of all options for let’s say paint, tile, carpet, hardwood floors for each and every room etc and then puts the finalized list together and communicates that to the builder with a itemized list so that there is no confusion. The remodeling went smooth and without any issue. Al workers wear mask all day while they worked inside the house and made sure to sanitize all the spaces. Need I say more? Great!! ASOD Home GroupWe were so fortunate to find SOD home group to redesign our house. It has been a while since we did any remodeling or updates. Oren was attentive to each and every detail during the work. The type of materials, the paint of the walls, the combination of the cabinets and more and more… were picked up one by one to deliver us a ‘look like new‘ home. The whole coordination of who will work and when, what will they do daily, weekly and monthly – was managed by Oren. The office staff always made sure that the schedule and perfection are the top priority and they kept informing us regarding each and every step of the work. We cannot thank all the people who did the work and manage to complete it on time even though we are in a middle of a pandemic. ASkyline Landscapes, Inc.We contracted Skyline Landscapes to fully overhaul our ~5,000 sq ft backyard and are thrilled with the results. They followed our landscape architect's design flawlessly, and the results are gorgeous. A few specific things worth noting: - Skyline's bid was very thorough and covered all changes in the landscape architect's design (Note: Some other companies who bid omitted key details) - When Francisco (Skyline's owner) made suggestions, they were very well thought through, improved the aesthetic, and added substantial value to the final results - I appreciated that when we made changes, Skyline gave us an incremental work estimate, so I never felt like there were any surprises - They were very conscientious working during COVID. The entire crew wore masks consistently and we felt very safe having them on our property. - They were here and working every weekday meaning we never had to worry about if or when they were going to show up. This meant the project completed in line with estimates. ABay RemodelsWe decided to remodel our old 1950's house completely and Bay Remodels was the company we choose to do the work. It was necessary to redevelop the rooms on both floors, build new decks with stairs and make a modern finishing of the entire house outside and inside. Arsen made suggestions that helped make the project easier to do, and made suggestions on issues where we needed help to make the project better. He set a price in advance, stuck to his prices, and did the job as promised. His crew was very respectful and polite. All crew members are very professional and skilled, we were very impressed with their attention to detail. We would definitely call on Bay Remodels again for future projects.- Linda L.

ASystem PaversI know reviews tend to be either all good or all bad... I am giving them and A because they did do a great job. Like any job that is big like this, there are always little things you work with and find and adapt too and so its not like some magic experience, it was like any other construction project. There were issues, questions, small decisions that needed to be corrected... but in all this, they were friendly, honest and made the work that needed to be done. They even helped me move my spa into the right place... they really are good people from sales to the crew... so if you are looking for solid work, with honest people... these are you the people.- Richard H.

AStructural FXThe owner, Brian, was the first one to respond to my request for quote and he came out the following day to discuss the project with me. I had a couple of other people quote on the project as well but Brian really listened to me and came up with some ideas as well. We collaborate as the project started and progressed and Brian was very flexible and easy to work with. You can tell that he was used to doing much bigger projects (building homes) but took the care and built a very sturdy and great looking shed. His price was very fair and tin line with the other quotes that I received. The materials he used were of quality, where the other bids included inferior materials. The deck/shed combo turned out great. I will hire him again in a minute.- Martin K.

AThis company had a lot of professionalism and was very quick to get back to me. I submitted a quote request from them and they got back to me the same day. I got an appointment with a salesman right away and got a quote the next day. They kept me posted and up to date on when I would get scheduled. Once they came out to start my job they got it done it two days and my fence looks amazing!! Will be sharing there info with my neighbors so they can also get there fences done.

ACalPreserving was the total deal! I didn't know what all we needed and all the serves Iooked at seemed to offer only a piece of the puzzle, such as just power washing, or construction, or staining. This group did it all. The initial visit to assess the issues was informative and helpful. We could see our choices. They offered sound advice and looked at ways to save us money where it was possible. We ended up replacing about half the boards on the oldest deck. The finished product on both decks looks amazing -- like new. The workmen were thoughtful, knowledgeable, hard working, and polite. I was impressed that they even followed up with tips on maintaining the decks for years to come. I will definitely have them back every couple of years just to check on the decks and preserve the investments we have made in them. My highest recommendation.

ALee and Manuel did an excellent job. It was a tricky job because it could not be too steep for my wheelchair to get up it, but also needed a flat spot on one side for me to get out of my car. Lee listened to my needs, and he and Manuel skillfully dialed in the grade and laid the pavers. He also suggested adding some lighting and improved sprinklers nearby, both of which worked out well. These two guys are very good. Their price is reasonable for the caliber of work that they do. I've used them before and was very happy. Don't rush them; let them do their work. They are good.

The crew showed up on time (actually early). This time it was Hilario and his crew. They did their usual thing, which means excellent work, plus some extras. AA great job on a complicated mid-sized ($100,000 range) bath renovation project. I will hire them again. The project was to gut and completely renovate/rebuild two full baths as well as make cosmetic improvements to two additional baths. This involved relocating walls, floors, electrical and plumbing in addition to extensive finish carpentry and tile work. I have a large single-family house in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco that was built in 1885 and substantially expanded, modified and renovated over the years. Although the house is in good shape, it is old – floors and walls are not plumb, general construction, plumbing, electrical and seismic standards are from years long past and access to many work areas is difficult. All of this made the project far more complex than a bath renovation in a house built in the last several decades might be. The scope of the work involved: demolition of bathrooms (including walls, floors and ceilings), roof and exterior wall water damage repairs, seismic upgrades, rough and finish plumbing, rough and finish electrical, extensive Rough and finish carpentry (walls, floors, doors, moldings, etc.), extensive tiling, hardwood floor installation, bathroom fixture installation, painting as well as the city permit and inspection process. Golden Gate handled all of these. The project took about 4 ½ months with a constant crew of two or three guys as well as specialty sub-contractors coming in from time to time. Although the time frame seemed long, in hindsight I cannot see how it could have moved dramatically faster. Paul (the business owner), Steve (the on-site project manager) and his crew were all reliable, honest and very easy to work with. The gut renovation of two of the bathrooms (80% of the project) was based on a fairly detailed drawing/plan. Once the demolition occurred and the underlying structure was understood, the original plan had to be modified to reflect these conditions. Steve was very good at understanding both my functional and esthetic visions of the finished space and coming up with sound ways of achieving them. When I compare the initial plans to the finished result, they are remarkably close (no easy feat in a 130-year-old house). Working with Paul to understand and agree upon the cost of these and other changes made to the plan along the way was quite straight forward. It was easy to work with these guys. I lived in the house while the work was going on. The crew always showed up when they said they would. They were respectful and careful with my property and were reasonably clean. The one isolated mishap (some wallpaper damage) was replaced at Golden Gates expense without argument. Pros - Great finished result - Fair price - Easy to work with - Reliable, responsible and professional - Good communication - Creative problem solvers - Managed city permit process very well Cons - Not as familiar with San Francisco inspection process as they could be - Small organization so there is not a lot of backup Getting contractors to do mid-sized renovations in San Francisco is not easy. I spoke with seven contractors. Five declined to even consider the project because it was too small (under $250,000). Of the two that bid on the project, Golden Gate was less than 70% of the higher bid. This is the third time I have done a significant renovation project (twice in New York City and once in San Francisco). Golden Gate was the fairest and easiest contractor to work with. The project certainly had its frustrations but they were largely with the renovation process and not the renovator. My bathrooms are structurally sound and plumb, they look great, and function perfectly. Every “problem” encountered was resolved reasonably and in a reasonable time frame. And, I feel as though I paid a fair price. Golden Gate Enterprises has a robust website. It will give you a very accurate sense of Paul Gordon and what to expect from their work (especially the You-Tube videos.
