How to Make Kitchen Appliances Last Longer

Truly a nice experience considering my machine broke Saturday morning and I was able to book an appointment online for the following Monday. Tom showed up, took the machine apart, showed me the broken parts, went out to his van, installed the new parts and had the machine working immediately. I am grateful that the company sent someone who knew what he was doing, had the parts in his van, and was clean and courteous. Thank you Mr. Appliance.

Wow! I am one happy girl. We got an old O'Keefe and Merritt gas stove that wasn't working. We restored and cleaned all parts before trying to put it back together. We were successful with 2 of the burners, but the stove wouldn't light. Fast forward 2 years of turning the gas on and off every time we wanted to cook something.
We found Rod earlier this week and scheduled an appointment. I didn't have any hope of him actually being able to make it work.
He just left our house and the stove and grill-evator are now working for the first time for us! Thanksgiving will be at our house this year ;)
Rod is knowledgeable, reasonable and a heck of a nice guy. I love it when you find someone that appreciates older classic appliances and can get them working like they're designed to. Thanks Rod!!!

I called and spoke with Minnie (I believe that's correct!) on Tuesday the 12th of this month. She was very pleasant and took down all the info regarding what was going on with the dryer, my name, address, etc. and told me that the repair tech would come the next day, Wednesday 11/13/13, between 1 and 3 pm.
Sure enough, Adam arrived at 1:30. He drove up in a nice-looking white Ford van with some logos and the name of the company on it. When he got out, he looked me square in the eye with a smile, introduced himself and shook my hand. He was neatly groomed and made a great appearance.
I took him to the laundry room, which is a tight fit, but he said it was no problem at all. He listened to my description of what had happened and set right to work on the dryer. First thing he checked was if the vent was blocked on the outside, which it wasn't, and he pulled some dried lint out of there.
Then he tested the voltage into the dryer, and began testing components, finding that the fuse was open, so he told me what the repair would run and when I agreed, he went to the van to see if he had the parts on board.
Lucky me - he DID! So he went about replacing the fuse and the high-limit thermostat, as they come packaged in pairs (which I already knew from doing some internet shopping when I THOUGHT I might be able to fix it myself!) and before long - my dryer was working!
Adam also spent a good deal of time cleaning out the inside of the dryer cabinet, including the lint trap, and showed me how I could do that occasionally.
I wrote the check, Adam thanked me, and off he went.
I would not hesitate to call Adam for any appliance repair. He told me he does refrigerators, ovens, washers, dryers, microwaves, etc. I was very pleased with everything. The only very minor complaint I might have is that the repair ran a little more than expected, but then - what doesn't these days? :)

Jack L Yoder dba Jack's Home Repair Service
Jack was very prompt and showed up at the appointed time. He had all the tools needed and was able to located the problem within fifteen minutes. I went with his recommedation to replace the unit versus repair. The price he quoted for repair parts was very accurate.

All and all it went well and it seems that he's managed to repair the refrigerator. It took three different visits and the good thing is he was persistant on coming back to fix it and he didn't charge us for the last visit but the not so good thing is it took about 3 months altogether to fix the fridge properly. I don't think that's his fault I think he did a good job. I didn't actually meet him my wife did but it sounded like he was very friendly and professional.

    Mr. Appliance of Monterey
Referred to Mr. Appliance by the national LG hotline. Mr. Appliance responded promptly - the next day - and diagnosed the problem. Parts for this make and model are apparently prone to failure but not kept in stock, so it was a special order. At my request, they expedited the part shipment. The same serviceman came both for the diagnosis and the replacement. He was courteous and prompt.

    Mike's Appliance
Very badly. I called Monday for an appt. They gave me an appt. for Tuesday. Then, they called back and asked to change it to Wed. because they said they had a call that was an emergency. I agreed to wait, even though it meant that I had no use of my stove/oven. I arranged for someone to be here to meet them on Wed. They called at the hour that they were to be in my house saying that they didn't have the parts to do the work. Apparently, they waited to the very hour to check on the parts rather than checking Monday, when I called. Then, they pushed the appt. up to Friday. I arranged for someone to be here Friday. When I got home, I discovered that they had replaced the gas line, but the ignitor they put in left me with one of the exact same problems that I had called them for, which was that the broiler took a while to turn on and then shot out flames, which it shouldn't do. Not only that, but the workers left the stove so far out that it was blocking my kitchen drawers and I couldn't open them! I called them immediately and they said they couldn't come out until Friday next to fix this! That left me with a week of not being able to access my skillets, coffee making utensils, or pots and pans. They said that on Friday, they would send the guys to push in the stove and then someone would call me about the ignitor, and that I should leave my house unlocked "We do it all the time," so that they could get in. I came home Friday to find that they had never shown up and they hadn't called me about the ignitor. Meanwhile, they cashed my check. Ten years ago, when the stove was under warranty, this same company simply refused to call me to make an appt. to fix the broiler. Finally, Thermador had to call them to get them out here. Obviously, once they have their money, they couldn't care less about the customer.
