    Del Mar Car Service was outstanding. Sean took on the challenge of figuring out what was causing the problem and the team did not give up even after all of the most likely suspects were ruled out. They had to drive it around [hooked up to diagnostic instruments] quite a bit to figure it out because the problem occurred intermittently and randomly - all of the normal instrument checks indicated no problems and they had to figure out a way to make it happen more frequently while driving (a stretch of road with a hill to go up) to determine if different adjustments or replacements fixed it. It took a lot to find the problem because it turned out to be something very unusual they have never seen - major corrosion of fuel distributor despite being completely encased in a sealed compartment with no leaks - even lines going into it were intact and sealed - yet the part looked like it had battery acid all over it completely corroded inside. Sean and team did fantastic work and helped us to keep costs down -get best value by offering us options of dealer parts vs aftermarket and doing multiple repairs/other maintenance that was needed at same time to get most value in labor costs [also had them do other needed maintenance like replacing timing belt for first time ever on this car, drive belts, valves etc - they did many needed repairs or maintenance [after checking with us and letting us know what was essential to avoid near future problems and what could be put off, making it as cost effective as possible] - so now car is in great shape to last us a lot longer for the best value. very impressed with their 25 yrs plus experience and care taken, great customer service. Gave us rides home after dropping off car, picked up up when car ready, washed and cleaned inside and out, etc.

    Dent Time sent Jose to my house to clean up a repaint both bumpers on my 2009 Toyota Camry.  They started out a mess and when he was done, 5 hours later, they were like new.  Jose is a true craftsman.  I made the appointment with Dent Time, LLC but Jose's truck said Bumper Time.  I understand that they are the same company.

    Del Mar Automotive has been faithfully keeping our family's cars running since 1998. This has included 3 sedans and 2 minivans, 400,000+ miles combined and still going. We have had all our routine maintenance and repairs done at Del Mar Auto for the entire life of 3 or 4 of those vehicles. Del Mar Auto has been really great about recommending appropriate preventive maintenance, so we have required minimal major repairs in the last 17 years. Many times they can do our routine maintenance while we wait, so long as we make an appointment in advance. When we sold our older vehicles, we got high end Blue Book values, because the cars were in great shape. We are so grateful to Al and Todd Phillips, their technician Steve and the rest of the crew for taking such good care of their customers over the years.

    This went better than I had expected.  They quoted the windshield replacement on the internet and came to my home the next morning to do the work.  The quote was over $100 less than the company that my insurance had recommended and included the glass, the installation and the mobile service.  They came exactly on time and did the work in less than an hour.  I'd definitely use them again.

    The reviews on the part on Amazon convinced me it was a decent replacement part. Although Del Mar Car service would not warranty the installation they would perform the service. I made the appointment, and because it was a slow day they drove me home and picked me up while they performed the service. They had quoted me $139 initially, $30 for antifreeze, but because the amount of antifreeze used was negligible I was not charged for it.
    Kudos to Del Mar Car Service for the work performed, I am back on the road and grateful for their car service.

    I have two western facing triangular windows that allowed so much glare to come into my kitchen and living room that I was unable to use either room after 4PM without wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap. I found SunSafe online and called them to discuss the situation. Anthony and Dominic, the two brothers who are the owners of the company, came to my home to discuss the issue and to show us the options we had. The were extremely punctual and professional. They brought an entire selection of film and a book of photos to show us samples of the  work they have done. They explained the process to us, gave us an estimate, told us how long the work would take. They left us with samples and told us to try them out and call them when we were ready to order. When we made our decision they ordered the film (no deposit was needed), set up an appointment and arrived exactly when they said they would. Aside from their excellent work they are charming and extraordinarily helpful. They are very proud of their work  and it shows in the finished product. I barely knew they were in my house.  Before they left they cleaned up and left everything better than before. I cannot praise them or their work highly  enough.

    Green Towing
    Weeks before a car show, I arranged for a flatbed tow that I would need from the Del Mar fairgrounds where the car show was to be held.    The tow was for a piece of shop equipment.  I gave Green tow the exact dimensions of the equipment and asked them to see if they had a truck for the job. They said that they did have a flatbed to carry the equipment. I made a reservation with Green Tow, and was quoted a price ( $295 - flat rate).  I called at least 3 times at intervals over the weeks before the show, to ensure that the reservation was still in place, and that the price remained at $295.  I was assured it was and the price was unchanged.  I was assured by the Service person at Green Tow that everything was set.  I even called Green Tow the Friday before the Sunday when the Tow would be needed, Green to verify everything was still set.  I specifically asked, "the driver won't come out on Sunday afternoon when the show is closing down and jack up the price, will he?" I was told, absolutely not, the price is set in the reservation.  

    Sunday afternoon when the tow was needed the wrong size flatbed tow truck showed up.  I was told that the proper sized truck is available, but that would be $400, not the $295 quoted.  I had no choice at that point, because I needed to get equipment out of the fair grounds as the fairgrounds were closing down.  I had to wait for 3 hours for the proper truck to show up.

    The next week I called Green tow, and after several days of attempting to get a manager to speak to me, a manager named Nina spoke to me.  She said that it was too bad that I was over charged, but Green Town outsourced the job to another company, and Green Tow had no responsibility for the over charge of Green Tow's subcontractor.  She told me I should work it out with the company that Green Tow sent out.   I argued that the reservation was made with Green Tow, they confirmed the reservation and the price.  Nina would hear nothing of it.  She said it was not Green Tow's issue.  She said she "shouldn't even talk to me about it" and that she "didn't want to get in the middle of the dispute".  She spoke over me and hung up on me.  

    I found out after the fact that the truck that performed the tow was an unlicensed business and did not have permits to perform towing service!  I was able to negotiate with the company that actually performed the tow to return $105 (probably because they wanted to keep their reputation, and because I took pictures of the truck performing the tow).  They will remain unnamed.

    If you use Green Tow, you chance that they will give you a quote and then send out any company or any one with a truck,  and the price can be vastly different that the price green tow quotes. If the price does get jacked up, they will tell you it is YOUR problem.  Green Tow is not to be trusted!  Good luck!

    Bumper Doc- Auto Body Work
    I backed into another car and wrecked the rear bumper of my VW Jetta. The dealership quoted me over $600 to replace it. I found Bumper Doc on AL and got a quote for about $250 to fix it. I liked the guy I dealt with so much that I asked him to replace the scratched tint on the rear window as well. This was another $200, most of which was to remove the existing tint. We set a date but I messed up the weeks and did not go there on time (8am). At 8:30 they called to remind me, so I managed to get the car to them by 9a. They said they would be done by 5p, and called at 4p to tell me I could pick it up. When I got there, I could not believe the results: the bumper looked like new, they had not only fixed the dents I was quoted but actually removed some other scratches as well. Since they had some left-over paint, they even touched up another scratch in the front without charging me for it. The new tint had some water bubbles in it but I was told that this was normal and that they would disappear in a couple of days (they were gone within a day in the sun). The other $100 was to clean the badly yellowed 11-year old headlights on my other car. They did this in under an hour while I was waiting there. The car looks like new - I had not realized what a difference this makes.
    I could not be happier with the service. The price was reasonable, the work excellent, and the people I dealt with were courteous, professional, and dispensed useful advice at no extra charge. I would definite use them again (though I hope I won't have to!)

    The service was timely. The service was personalized. The service included consultation about whether or not to service the drive line at this time (the mileage criteria had not been met; but, a lot of months had been accrued). This was done after checking the fluids. I have had other medium level repair jobs done on another vehicle that involved diagnosing the problem and then fixing it. The service has always been personalized, timely and the cost has always been fair.

    Eric was wonderful. I made an appointment for him to come and do an estimate for three small but very high (12 feet off the ground) windows. The price was reasonable. He offered to tint the windows right then, since it was a small job. He showed me his samples and made a recommendation which I took. The windows were very high up, but he had a telescoping ladder and was able to get up there and do the windows fairly quickly. I liked how it looked so much that I asked him to give me an estimate for two windows in my daughters room and again, the number was very reasonable and he was able to get them done right away. Eric is a good communicator, pleasant and efficient. He know his products and gets the job done quickly and at a price that seems fair. I will be calling him again to get our front doors tinted. It really reduces the UV rays, glare and heat. I highly recommend Premium Window Tinting!
