Cabinet Refacing reviews in Davis

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • How do you define excellence except to say that these guys seem to only know one rule: do everything possible to get it right the first time.   I had no idea what refacing a cabinet meant before we started and it sounded a little weird to us, but I will defy anyone to see these cabinets and not have your jaw drop at the professional look and feel and function.  All the extra time and energy spent carefully measuring, and measuring again, was very impressive.   We even has a tour, not just of the showroom, but of the actual cabinet shop itself, where all the custom work and finishing is done.  We went to the showroom to pick out cabinet finsh and style from an impressive selection.  Now that I remember, the soft close feature and some of the cabinet styles were a bit extra, but not significantly so.
From start to finish, every detail was attended to, and if any small detail was missed, we were invited to mention it.  I had the cell phone # of Kerry, the sales specialist, and spoke to her a couple of times on the weekend to make sure of who was coming the following Monday, since I had forgotten.  To label Kerry as only a sales rep would vastly underestimate her knowledge of the process, from countertops to sinks to cabinet design to scheduling and installation and more.  An example of the time this family business puts in:  Kerry spent the entire 8 hours of countertop installation at the our house, keeping an eye on the process, answering our questions and pointing out to the installers any minor issue that needed attention.  Another time, Kevin, the head of the company, came out to our house after we signed the contract and spent over 5 hours precisely refining the earlier measurement estimates done by Kerry at the onset.
I neglected to mention that we acted as our own contractors, a challenge for sure and one not everybody would want to endure, but we learned a lot as well as saved a lot of money AND we saved 40-50% more having cabinets refaced rather than having the entire kitchen and bathroom ripped out and completely starting over.  Plus, it made the process a bit shorter with less mess for sure.   Now that I see th result (it may sound silly, but I can't wait to get up for coffee and the "view" each day and I'm not talking about a sunrise).  This glow will fade i'm sure, but what we will remember is the professional, and personal, attention given to our project and to us through the entire journey.  We are very proud of the remarkable harmony of cabinet finish, Quartz countertops, floors, appliance finish (slate) and even the cabinet pulls.  But the support of the Cabinet Crafter folks was the key to so much of this success.  Thank you.

  • Cabinet Crafters is 100% professional. They are very efficient, and they are a pleasure to work with. They worked extremely well with my general contractor, who did the demolition, installed appliances and plumbing, etc.

  • The work crew arrived on date and time as promised. The project took five days. There was a crew chief who was present for all the time needed, but other workers rotated in and out.
The work was performed efficiently but not rushed. The crew was very deliberate in their efforts and were careful to not disturb or disfigure any part of the house.
Crew chief was exceptionally personable and freely provided painting and maintenance tips to the owners. They gave us all the paint not used and tossed in some sanding sponges as a bonus.
The owners followed-up to determine our satisfaction and were very concerned that we were completely satisfied. We were, and have since recommended them to friends and neighbors.

  • They arrived when promised, took all the doors to the shop, prepped and painted the frames on site and the door and drawers at the shop. The completed the whole job in four days, even with the prime coat and two finish coats. the crew was professional and well organized. It was a pleasure to have them working here.

  • Because apartments around UC Davis often get handed from tenant to tenant without undergoing a true turnaround (which usually involves a thorough cleaning and repainting) my new apartment hadn't been painted in about 6 years--and you could really tell. On top of that, the management's chosen wall color was a beige that made the place feel dark and dirty. I needed my place painted, and FAST. My apartment also had grimy, dark brown laminate cabinets in the galley kitchen. They were ugly and dirty, and in places the laminate was peeling away from the underlying particle board. I could tell immediately from my interactions with Jeremy Brooks that his was the company to hire. My impression of Jeremy was that he is highly professional and takes great pride in making sure the job gets done well. He did not seem like the kind of person who would cut corners. I'm pleased to report that the work confirms my initial impression. Jeremy gave me an estimate on Thursday. The following Monday I left my key and paint colors with the Brooks Co office staff before I went on vacation. On Tuesday (the day before the scheduled start day), the painter called me to see if there was anything I wanted him to know and to give me his contact info before he started the work. I came back on Sunday to what seemed like a brand new apartment. The work was beautiful, with no sloppy bits and no paint where paint shouldn't be. Best of all, the cabinets look so good that you hardly notice the mustard-colored laminate counter anymore! Some people might think I'm crazy for spending this kind of money on an apartment, but honestly it was some of the best money I've ever spent. My experiences with Jeremy and his staff were positive from start to finish. I would not hesitate to hire the Brooks Painting Co again, and will recommend them to anyone who needs a painter in Davis.

  • My cabinets are 10 years old and overall in good shape, but several of the door and drawer fronts were showing wear, and the finish was worn. I dreaded having to replace or refinish all of them just for the few that weren't in good shape. I called Mark and he said he could remove them, take them to his shop, and match them to the existing ones with no problem. A week later, I he came back with them, but he said he was afraid they might not match quite right. Most of them looked great to me, but he did offer to redo them at no charge, and I let him take one back because it was in an area with a lot of light hitting it, and it did look a little too golden compared to the surrounding cabinets. When he brought it back again, it was PERFECT. I will definitely call Mark in the future when the entire set of cabinets (and there are a lot of them) needs to be refinished. He is meticulous, courteous, professional, and knows his business. And the price was so reasonable - for $400 (or so) I will be able to hold off on redoing the whole kitchen for several years at least. Can't recommend him highly enough.
