    Repipe 1
Our 1965 two-story, two-bathroom home had the original galvanized water pipes that were on their last legs. We had water pressure problems and rusty water in a seldom-used guest bath. It was time for a whole-house repipe job.
We gathered three bids from Angie's List providers and selected Repipe 1 based on their overall presentation, bid price, and our confidence that they could get the job done relatively quickly. Chris Kirksey was the project manager who came out to give us the bid and then he did the scheduling of the work crew.  Because our drain lines were as old as our water pipes, we figured this was the appropriate time to replace them as well since the walls would be open anyway.  If you just do a repipe (no drain lines) figure that your cost will be about half of ours. Repipe 1 obtained the building permits for us and worked with the city to coordinate inspections. Plan to do some prep work in cleaning out the cabinets under your kitchen and bath sinks so they can get in there to work. They needed to move our washer and dryer out of the way to run those pipes, but they did all the moving for us. They also moved the refrigerator out from the wall to work back there.
Repiping is a big job that is scary, since you have crews cutting holes in your walls, and in our case, also in the ceiling of one room. They did a great job protecting our furniture and carpets, placing drop cloths in the areas where they were working and also having plastic sheeting from the ceiling to wall off the area where they were cutting to minimize dust. They removed some of the old piping and other pipes were abandoned in place. New pex (plastic) hot and cold water lines were installed. You can also have them do copper repiping if you prefer, but our research showed some horror stories about pinhole leaks developing in copper, so we opted to go with pex.  We couldn't believe the sorry condition of some of the old galvanized pipes they took out of our house. They were so corroded that it's a miracle any water got through at all.We are glad we had this work done BEFORE a major pipe break could occur.
The job took about a week in total. The cutting of walls and installation of new piping takes about 2 to 3 days. Then you need a day for the city inspector to come by and approve the work. After approval, there is 1 to 2 days of drywall patching by a different crew. Then you need a day for the final inspection by the city. Amazingly, they have you back in water at the end of work each day so you don't have to move out during this process.  Since our water heater was over 10 years old, we opted to buy a new one and Repipe 1 installed it for us at no extra charge.
We were very impressed with the drywall patching. They did a great job and it was hard to tell there were ever holes in the walls. However, we still had the old popcorn ceilings and the patch job on that wasn't very good. They matched the texture as close as they could but it still looked a bit like patchwork.  We were planning to have the popcorn ceilings removed in the future, but the sad state of the ceiling prompted us to move this work up on our timeline of home improvements. Now that the popcorn ceilings are gone, there is no sign that any repiping was ever done.  Overall, we were very happy with the process and would recommend them to others on Angie's List.

Rooter Alert Plumbers & Sewer Contractors
After our experience with the people of Rooter Alert, I can't imagine using another plumbing service. We had some major plumbing problems during remodeling and we are thankful for the professionalism and expertise from the receptionist, Debbie, to every plumber who showed up to take care of our extensive repairs. All were very polite, knowledgeable, and honest. I was impressed with how the plumbers collaborated on the best way to repair our pipes and get our home back in working order. We were kept advised on each step of the repair process and each plumber took the time to answer all of our questions. Clearly, Rooter Alert puts resolving your plumber problem ahead of profit. You won't find anyone from Rooter Alert trying to sell you something you don't need. Many thanks to the people of Rooter Alert.

    EA Construction Driveways-Hardscape-Pavers
Eric Austin and his foreman Juan exceeded my expectations.  Eric started and finished the job on time.  I was impressed with their workmanship.
I purchased a Big Deal Coupon for $149 for Complete Landscape/Hardscape Assessment with Design Rendering.  Eric listened to my ideas, made recommendations and came up with a design rendering.  Based on that rendering, I decided to go forward with the work.  I originally purchased the Big Deal, because I had drainage problems in my back yard.  Whenever it rained hard, water would enter my home through the corner of my exterior walls and flood a portion of my back yard.  I wanted to resolve this issue once and for all by repairing the drainage lines and installing pavers.  After Eric showed me different types of pavers, I selected the pavers that I wanted. However, while Eric was working on the drainage lines, Eric presented an alternative to pavers -- he explained that I had the option of installing stamped concrete and reviewed pros/cons of both stamped concrete and pavers.  Eric was always respectful of my wishes, but did not hesitate to advise me of my options.  That's what I like about Eric -- I loved that he let me know what my options are, because I don't know everything about patio design, including all the materials that could be used to form a patio.
I also wanted to install my parents' natural gas BBQ grill in the island that Eric was building.  The cool thing is that Eric and Juan were able to build the BBQ island around the stand-alone BBQ grill.  The measurements were perfect!  Eric also installed a sink and faucet, a door, and drawers to store BBQ accessories.
One of the coolest things that Eric did was install an umbrella holder in the BBQ island -- this is something that I didn't even think of. He also suggested making the island in such a way that bar stools could be placed under the counter so that my friends can talk to me while I am BBQ'ing.
Erick returns in about 10 days to seal the concrete, and I can't wait to see the final product and start entertaining my friends and family. I plan on using Eric and his company for Phase 2 of my backyard landscaping, followed by work in my front yard and driveway.

Coast Plumbing Heating & Air Inc
The plumber worked solo on this job, and it took from morning until evening to complete.  He did excellent work with quality results.  I could not even tell afterwards that major work had been done.  Plumber was friendly, courteous and worked non-stop.   I'm glad I picked this company.

    Remodeling by Reginald W Murdock
All in all, good work, for a great price. I called him at about 3:00 that day. I was calling a lot of different electricians/handymen, but nobody was able to make it out. Reggie was able to come out, and stayed until 9:25 to finish the job. He also made sure he cleaned up afterwards.
