Lighting Installation reviews in Cupertino

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • The work went good and without any issues. Sol remodeled my kitchen and it took him and his crew close to a month to complete. The new kitchen included the following tasks: 1. Demolition of the old kitchen 2. Installation of new outlets, switches, and light fixtures. 3. Installation of new cabinets (upper and Lower) 4. New paint 5. Installation of new appliances (Ref, Stove, Range, Dishwasher) Sol managed his people and he communicate with me few times a week making sure that i'm happy with the progress and results.

  • The fence repair was acceptable. It required a slotted 2x4 for the top and I was surprised that the fellow couldn't find a ready-made board at a lumberyard. He said he had to route the board. The repair was good.
The problem was in replacing the light fixture. In our office, we have three under-counter florescent fixtures and one of them no longer worked. He said it needed to be replaced, which I expected. However, he replaced it with a fixture four inches shorter than the original and one that had an on/off switch on it (the lights all turn on / off from a wall switch.) Now I have to find another - this time a real electrician - to put the right fixture in. The shorter fixture uncovers an un-painted area and doesn't match the other two fixtures. He left it that way. I paid the bill when it arrived in the mail and called to say I would not use them again. If they had offered to come out and remedy the situation, I would not have written this, my first ever review. I didn't expect that he would have the right replacement fixture with him, but I thought he would order one and come back days later. He didn't ask if this would be okay; we would not have approved it.

  • We used Sal at Valley Heating, Cooling, and Electrical for our last electrical wiring project.  There was no question that we were going to use Sal again, for this project.  He is very professional and does exceptional work.  We consider Sal at Valley HCE our go-to person for electrical work, now.

  • julien is a very professional electrician, who takes the time to explain what he is doing; as we are senior citizens, this could have been very confusing, but julien has an easy going, relaxed manner that invites questions and discussion.
he checked several lite switches which had been heating up, to a point we felt was dangerous. he also checked an over head lite that flickered, as well as an outlet (for an attic fan) that had sparked. we also had a living room outlet that had actually burned out a timer, and we wondered if it was a defective timer, or the actual wall outlet.
julien was able to remove a lite bulb which had become stuck in the overhead recessed socket above the sink, and then replace the bulb. finally, julien had noticed the previous owner had done a bit of wiring himself, and he felt he should check several of the wires to be sure they were not and quot;liveand quot;. we sure appreciated that!
later this summer, we plan to replace our old recessed kitchen lites with new frames and bulbs, and we plan to call oconner and son to do the job.

  • The limestone, hardwood floor, and slate ledger stone work was of very high quality.  We had gotten 5 other bids for the work, but no other contractor would do all of the required work at a reasonable price.  There was one mistake.  Cement was applied to one of the fireplaces directly to painted bricks prior to the stucco coat.  The cement did not stick since the brick was not properly prepared.  In a few days it began to separate, crack, and come off in pieces.  All of the old cement had to be removed, the painted brick of the fireplace properly prepared by extensive chipping on the painted bricks.  Then a Foamtek product was re-applied and it adhered.  This resulted in a week of delays to the original schedule.  We gave SOD builders a "fair" rating  for punctuality because there were some problems scheduling workers and getting them to our project.   SOD has their workers busy on several projects simultaneously. There were a few days when particular workers were expected to do work but did not come. There was one day when no workers arrived. No one called to explain their absence.  This resulted in us staying at the house several hours, expecting someone to come that never shows up.  We called the local representative and found out that the expected crew was not available for a few days.  We exchanged emails with the company owner Oren about our complaints and after that the scheduling and communication were much improved.  Also, to compensate us for the problems experienced, the SOD crew performed some ceiling repair for us at no cost.  Overall we had a good experience with SOD Builders and would consider using them again.

  • They haven't done the work for me yet, however, I saw that the deal was close to expiring, so I called them. The lady was very nice, and said to simply call them when I was ready. They were professional and courteous over the phone.

  •  Dave responded to my phone call the same day and came later that same morning.  He diagnosed the problem in the light and explained what he needed to do to fix it.  He got the materials and fixed the light the same day.  He was pleasant, thorough and competent.  The job was done quickly and completely including clean up for a very affordable price.  I am very pleased.

  • I had purchased the 'two hour electrical work' special service, but knew the work I had in mind would cost more.  The project scope was installation of three connected pendent lights and replacement/installation of an island hood (exhaust, electrical connection were already there).  I was very pleased with the final product, the professionalism of the electrician, attention to detail, the craftsmanship of his work.
I knew that the price would be dependent on how much time it actually took.  I saw that the work was done without any tardiness, efficiently and progressed smoothly.  I have nothing but good things to say based upon my experience.
The total work took 6 hours.  First two hours were the $120 special and the next 4 were billed at $120 per hour.

  • Ken came to our place and spent several hours working with us to come up with a quote for a remodel project we were planning. I didn't hear back from him when he said he would call and instead had to call him 2 times. He kept putting me off and to this day, months later never returned to us with a quote.

  • Richard was awesome. He is extremely proficient in handyman repairs and is a pleasure to work with. He finished the work in much less time than we expected and for a lot less than we expected to pay. We will definitely be asking him to do more work for us.
