  • Scott (the technician) showed up on time and was very knowledgeable. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need (as other services have.) He aligned the rails, adjusted the door tension, set the up/down limits for the door opener and lubed everything that moves. The difference in the operation of the door was amazing.

  • Ran was smart, professional, and responsive. We corresponded a few days before his visit by phone and text so that he could understand our needs and order the correct parts in advance; he was able to tell us a lot about our situation just by looking at some photos that I texted to him. He was always happy to answer questions in as much detail as we requested, and to provide cost details rather than vague estimates. His recommendations and explanations about what to purchase and what NOT to purchase were very helpful. On the day of service, he was friendly and professional and walked me through everything I needed to know about using and reprogramming our new lock system. The whole thing took about an hour and 45 minutes. As a woman who was home alone, I appreciated that at no point did I feel unsafe, and at no point did I feel that I was treated differently than a male customer would have been treated (which unfortunately happens from time to time). Even though our job was not inexpensive, we feel that we got a great value for the price.

  • Panels to garage door were replaced but they left off the guard ware that was on the original panels and a strip at the bottom. They left the “repaired” garage door in a much less secure and more flimsy condition than the original. Plus the door is asymmetrical now and light shines through the sides and that wasn’t the case before. I’ve been trying to get them to rectify this situation but have been ignored. They were already paid so I guess that’s what mattered to them. Small consolation, they were less expensive than the other company we contacted.

  • I recently ordered a basic, insulated garage door from Mesa.
    Their price was competitive. Their sales representative was objective, and not
    high pressure trying to upsell me into something higher priced which I didn't want or need.
    Mesa?s installer was on time and completed the installation
    in several hours. The installer was sloppy. They had only one installer for a 16 ft garage door. They had to use some of my equipment, were not prepared and broke my equipment.

  • They were quick to come out, on time. Very responsive. They have a very responsible price for the service call. Everyone i talked to from this company was very polite. They really spent time explaining things over the phone and at my home during the repair.

  • I bought a Deal for a wireless keypad for the garage door.  The person showed up and tried to up-sell me to replace the motor (saying it's old).  The worst part is that he deliberately made the door open back up after it closes to show that the motor is too "weak" for the door.  I was suspicious and turned down the service.  Got a different company to come out and they said the motor is fine, installed a remote control and the door has been working great.  I ended up asking Angie's List for a refund on the Deal.  Technician is friendly, but I really don't like up-selling.

  • I purchased the wrong Big Deal; I think it was for rollers when my garage door has springs.  The company came out, looked at our garage and told me there was nothing to be fixed, everything was in fine working order.   No work was done.  Still, they were on time and honest, which I appreciated.

  • The garage door stopped responding to the remote. Changed batteries, nothing. Finally after a few months of manually

    opening it I decided to call for repair.

    Checked Angie's list and found Cooke's Garage Doors with all A reviews.

    It was on the weekend so I emailed the company. Brian called me Monday morning

    for details. I sent him pictures of the motor and door so he could have the correct parts on hand.

    Came out on Tuesday and added a reinforcement bracket (my small bracket had ripped out).

    Didn't need a new opener YAY!

    Checked remotes, oiled everything and adjusted sensors.

    Very professional and will definitely use again and recommend to others.

  • After initially calling to schedule a 8 AM appointment, contractor called me back at my office to ask for a 9-10 AM appointment, which I agreed to. In both the initial call and the call to reschedule, the receptionist for Byers and Butler (and quot;Band Band quot;) told me that someone would call me 30 minutes in advance of my appointment to let me know they were on their way. Then, on the day of the appointment, Band B called and left a message at my office, which, of course, I did not receive, because I was at home waiting for their visit. Since Band B did not reach me at my office, they canceled the appointment and did not show. When I finally got the message and called Band B, the receptionist Sherry did not apologize but instead insisted that being told I would get a 30 minute notice of the salesperson's arrival was the same thing as being told that if I was not there to receive the call that they would cancel the appointment (i.e. so the cancellation was my fault). I was not pleased, but said I was wiling to reschedule the appointment for the next day since I was already scheduled to meet with another contractor at 10 AM. I specifically gave Sherry my home phone number to avoid another mix-up.


    The next day, I did not get a call at home by 9:30 AM, so I called Band B again. Sherry had went on vacation, and I learned that and quot;Roband quot;, who was supposed to handle the appointment, had called my office (not my home, as I had instructed less than 24 hours earlier). The new receptionist said she would call Rob and give him my phone number. Shortly thereafter I got a call from Rob that said he wasn't going to show up because Culver City was too far from their main area and that I could and quot;find someone else in LA.and quot; A little while later, I called the main office back to complain to the owner or president of the company about conduct of Band B's employees, only to be told that and quot;Roband quot; was the head of the company.


    As a result of my experience, I wasted parts of two different mornings waiting for someone to show up, only to be told I was too far away--something they should have told me when I first called to schedule an appointment. I would never use Band B and would not recommend them to anyone.
