    It's a walk in clinic. They are very easy to get into and there is no waiting. They are very professional. The staff is very courteous, very professional and very knowledgeable. They are just easy to work with.

    My husband had to be admitted several dates from 09/17/12-09/19/12 at Mercy Medical Center in Merced,Ca. Due to some diabetic issues ( infection) not good. His doctor recommended he should be in the hospital to receive better care. I stayed with my husband during his hospital stay to make sure we (I) understood the doctors plan of treatment while In. Pt. and after discharge. After I received the total charges from the hospital of $13,390.04, I was not surprised of the cost for the Inpatient Stay. This was one of those days I was very glad to be covered with Anthem Blue Cross Plan. It's very expensive to pay out of pocket monthly for (2) persons but, it's a gamble not to be covered. The representatives at Anthem Blue Cross from my experience have always been helpful, customer friendly when ever I have any questions believe me I ask alot of questions regarding dates of service, provider , total bill charges, applied deductible, co-payment amounts, claims payment, etc.

    I was very pleased with my experience at Mercy Medical Center Merced. All of the nurses and technicians were very knowledgeable and had great bedside manner. Each one I dealt with asked me my name, reason for being in the hospital, and a few other questions. I got kind of tired of answering the same questions over and over again, but I'm glad that they're thorough! The nurses during my recovery (two days) were very attentive and always made sure I was comfortable. My only complaint: I have a wheat allergy and eat gluten-free and the kitchen staff was unsure of what I could and couldn't have... I mean come on, it's a hospital! Are there no nutritionists or dietitians? The meals I received ended up being fine and I was only in the hospital a few days, but for someone with Celiac disease, this could be a major concern. On a side note, the hospital is very nice and modern. Most rooms are single occupancy which is AWESOME! There was a lot of room for visitors and I really appreciated the big windows which let a lot of natural light into the room (there are shades that you can draw, too, if you don't want a lot of sunlight). Overall, a great experience, for a hospital.

    After initially checking in I was eventually called back to have my vitals taken. Then after waiting a bit longer I was called back again to give my health history. Then after waiting longer I was taken back for blood work. Then I waited longer to be taken back to a room to be seen by a doctor. He sent me for a CT scan, and eventually gave me the results (appendicitis) and contacted the on-call surgeon. I didn't have immediate surgery so I was admitted to the hospital and brought to my room. The surgery was performed in the middle of the night and I was released around noon the following day. I was totally comfortable with all the staff I encountered throughout the experience. I did feel that there were some times that I was left "in the dark" longer than I should have been, and at one point when I responded to questioning by the ER doctor that I did want some pain medication I did not receive it. So my experience wasn't perfect but since we just moved to California fairly recently, my husband and I were very pleased overall with our first experience with the hospital.

    It was a horrible experience.  I got to the emergency room and could barely stand upright.  They would call me back to do tests before I even saw the Doctor.  When I had finally seen the Doctor, about four hours later, they had ran a bunch of tests that were not for my specific condition.  They did nothing to treat me and two days later I was able to see my regular Doctor and get the care and medication to finally cure my illness.I was charged over $5,000.00 for a day of suffering.

    I needed a refill on my Humaira and my doctor requested a blood drawn tb test. It was Saturday and I called to see if I could have it done at Patients First, here in Merced. I have used them on occasions and actually had my TB test performed there before. I decided to stop and see if they were busy I wasn't sure if quest were open. There were two girls behind the desk and I explained that I was here for Humaira refill... I needed the TB test... they looked at me like I was talking a different language then English. I was asked more than once who was Humaira...I'm like, Humaira... the drug. what's that for I was asked... I'm like for a Chronic illness... there were people standing around. Look, if they had a question why didn't they seek out a doctor or nurse instead of foolish questions over and over. Finally, the one girl standing went and got a form and I filled it out. The other was still checking something. I went sat down and could hear them talking in regards to what to charge me. I have a High PPO BCBS with Federal Govn't and Medicare A/B and thot well the most would be my co-pay. I heard the girl seated say she was comfortable charging me some amount as she pointed to other girl what to charge. It's not like I couldn't hear, it was quiet and all. When I was called back up I was informed they were comfortable to only charge me today 61 dollars. I was already startled by them asking and not knowing what TB test or Humaira was... I thought $61.00 was alot and asked why 61.00 not my co-pay amount, since I had had it done at Patients First before and whatever the PPO didn't pay, medicare did. I wasn't given an answer. just told the price again. I thot it best to go elsewhere after my experience and left. I posted a review on Yelp about my experience and about 2 weeks later received on Jan. 27th, 2017 a certified letter letting me know I would not be a Patient with them anymore. I guess they have someone named Gerry R., Business Manager...that read the reviews and determine whether to apologize or just dump the patient. Hey, you know what I only used Patients First when I couldn't get into my primary or for little things, but it is upsetting. What if they were my primary place of service. Because someone has a complaint or concern, this is how they deal with it? I find it insulting that they participate on Yelp in an effort to dump patients. Wonder how many more patients will experience this that have no where else to obtain healthcare... after all Merced is a small town. The letter states no reason...nothing. I have had two incidents within 6 years with Patients First. I figure they must allow one strike and you are gone....Right? Besides sending my results to the wrong Facility/doctor years before... and I wrote a letter... ... the nurses are great and most doctor care is what you would expect. I WOULD NOT ADVISE MY FRIENDS AND OTHER TO USE THIS PLACE TO ANYONE UNLESS THEY ARE VERY COMPLIANT AND DON'T SPEAK THEIR MINDS. Hells Bells, It's just your healthcare right? I left, went to Quest.

    The only thing I can say about this place is that it is about as close to an Insurance scam as there is. They are currently trying to collect nearly $100 in fees based on the last visit that I refused to pay for. The billing total is compounded each month with a non payment fee so it will always go up so long as they want to keep the issue open. Originally, I believe the fee was around $37 and it was completely unwarranted at that stage. Quite honestly, I told them to take me to court where my evidence will prove that they are not entitled to a dime. If anything, they should be paying me for the lack of care that I received. I'm surprised that no one has sued this place yet. Then again, perhaps people have and it cannot be disclosed. At any rate, never, ever go to this place.
