  • Excellent service. I will not go anywhere else. Mr. Rossi has done clock and watch repairs, and jewelry repairs and appraisals. I have purchased watches and jewelry here. Reliable, fair and very helpful.

  • Daizy was patient while I went through the options and then helped me arrange the engraving in a better way that used fewer letters.  Her recommendation on the fonts was right-on and when I asked for a flor-de-lis they engraved a large and detailed BSA flor-de-lis symbol that only cost $3.  The total cost was $25 for the vase and $20 for engraving then tax.  It was done the next day at 3:00pm.
Selecting gifts that are appropriate and in the right price range is stressful, especially when you have a ceremony deadline.  The Engraving Story has a great selection and outstanding service that should make that a lot easier.

  • My family contracted with Craters and Freighters in San Diego to ship a hundred year old grandfather clock from San Diego to Portland, Or.  Craters and Freighters failed to properly secure and transport the clock.  As a result of this, over $6000 worth of damage was done to the clock including physical damage to the clock cabinet and collapsing of the clock mechanism.
I have consulted with experts on the shipping of grandfather clocks (especially Herschede) who state that the clock was improperly shipped laying down.  Grandfather clocks should be transported in an upright manner to minimize the risk of damage.  Since Craters and Freighters shipped the clock laying down, significant damage occurred to the clock.
While the vast majority of the other pieces we shipped arrived intact and undamaged, the significant damage to the clock is too much to overlook.  For shipping general freight, Craters and Freighters is just fine.  But for valuable antiques which require a higher degree of care and expertise, I would look elsewhere.

  • My family contracted with Joe Mino to decommission a hundred year old grandfather clock and prepare it for shipping.  Joe failed to properly decommission the clock or adequately prepare certain parts of the clock for transport.
As a result of this improper decommissioning and packaging, over $6000 worth of damage was done to the clock including cracking of the chime tubes (which are irreplaceable) and forceful tangling of the drive chains (which sustained damage as a result).  He also failed to remove the clock mechanism from the clock cabinet.
I have consulted with experts on the decommissioning of grandfather clocks (especially Herschede) who state that the decommissioning job was done improperly and the packaging of the tubes was insufficient.  This poor quality work directly contributed to the damaging of the clock.
When I attempted to contact Joe about the damage, he hung up on me.  24 hours later, Joe contacted me to inform me that he feels did prepare the clock properly and that there was nothing on the clock worth $6000. He offered no compensation, no apology, and no further option for making a claim. Repeated attempts to contact Joe have since gone unanswered.
In short, I received poor service, poor customer service, and am now faced with the prospect of a substantial bill to repair a family heirloom.

  • Roy was very professional and punctual; he called me with the estimate and explanation of what was needed.  The repairs were complete the next day.  The only drawback was that since I live in south county, this was outside his "mobile" area and I had to deliver and pick-up my machine myself in Encinitas.  This was not really a problem for me,  I just want to add the explanation that his mobile service is limited to a certain area of the San Diego region.

  • Last week, Monday 4/22/13, we had a contractor here from Capt Video Big Screen TV Repair. The technicial was professional, polite and very helpful. He determined that the computer wasn't talking to itself properly so the TV would not come back on once we turned it off. He informed us we needed either a new computer terminal to it or we could buy a new TV. There are refurbished parts or new ones. WE opted for a new part which could have cost anywhere from $450 to $900. He ordered the part and returned on Friday, 4/26/2013 to install it. Once he opened the TV set, it was learned that apparently this was a two piece part. Seems even though he had the serial number that was not noted and he didn't even know there were two piece computer parts. So, off the poor guy went and the earliest we could be present for repairs to be completed wasn't till Monday the 29th. He was willing to come Saturday, but we had other plans.
He arrived punctually, as always and the work was completed in no time at all!
This experience was one of the best service visits we've had with anyone on any piece of equipment. Many thanks and many kudos to Captain Video!

  • I've worked with him for years. The owner's name is Jim Joslin. He is very responsive. I've bought copiers and printers from him for many years. He is very personable and has good prices. I am a trustee at my church and we have bought copiers from him for the church. I will absolutely use him in the future.

  • Super service. On line reservation process is easy and really streamlines the process. You select a pick-up date and time and drop you bike 48 hrs. prior. Though they advertise it requires 48 hrs., this bike was ready the next night. It looks brand new and is a smooth ride.

  • They took more than two weeks to diagnose what they thought was causing the problem. They told me that they had to get approval for the part, ten more days passed. When I called, they said they hadn't heard anything, they called, got approval, got the part, it didn't fix the problem. They said they would have to call for another approval, another ten days went by, I called again, they told me they hadn't heard back, I called the warranty people, they hadn't heard from Poway but approved the part. Called Poway told them the second part was approved, would take another ten days for the part to be shipped before a repair could be tried. As of today, I have not received a call regarding the arrival of the part or the timetable for repair. Their attitude is one of indifference. They haven't called to check on warranty approval until I call to find out what is going on. I am somewhat shocked that a local company would treat its customers this way. Never again!
