  • There is a new owner and a new name:  Animal Hospital of South Bay.  And they now accept dogs.  I don't know how the new vets are, but when I called them recently about a prescription drug they used to give my cat, they were very kind & helpful.  They have a website that is pretty informative.

  • .It's always difficult boarding an older dog but having no choice we at least wanted her to be in the best facility we could find. We visited approx 7 kennels total and Country Kennels turned out to be the best even though they were a 30 minute drive from our home. During our tour we were struck with how clean the facilities were and a complete lack of and quot;doggieand quot; smells. We opted for a window suite in a quieter part of the facility. When we picked our dog up after 12 days she had been given a bath, had not lost any weight and seemed very happy. We were very pleased with our experience with Country Kennels and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

  • The facility itself was so small that when people bring in the pet in, it was so small, some pets don't get along with other pets and they were like barking like crazy and I thought they were going to fight and then even the room that they take your pet in was so small. They weren't very prompt.

  • I was able to get in right away so that's the plus of it. I don't usually have to wait long for an appointment which I like that because they are pretty big and they have a staff of several that's running it so that you can always get right in. They are very clean and the staff seems very professional. The problem is that I don't see the same veterinarian cause I would like to see the same veterinarian. I think I could request it but so far I hadn't needed to, but I think I could if I wanted to.

  • The vet is willing to try anything. He calls and gives me updates. My cat hates everybody, but he loves this vet. I have never had a vet this good in 15 years. I would give him the highest rating. How is a vet punctual?  They also have shot clinics. I am taking my pet back today.

  • It's expensive. It's about $30 for an 8-pound bag. I've had no problems but they're very busy so, evidently, they're quite popular. You can expect attentiveness and they seem very professional. There is more than one vet that works there but the parking could be better as there's not that much parking. Otherwise, I've had no problems at all. The veterinarians are fine and they seem to be very kind. They make the pet feel comfortable and the prices, of course, vary with the service you're having done. I'm fairly new in this area, so it's great to find people that I can stick with. I've seen cats there also.

  • In the early morning our boxer had a bloody bowel movement. We rushed him to CVS. The doctor and staff are very professional, knowledgable and helpful. We opted to have X-rays done to make sure there was no blockage. He received medication and tests, and we went home with him. CVS sent the information to his regular vet, whom we followed up with.

We have used CVS in the past in emergency situations and have always been pleased with their service. We highly recommend them.

  • We had an older lab that spent the last 6 months of his life in Yorba Animal Cares treatment.  Long story short our dog was diagnosed w Cushings disease, we treated him per the clinics direction and basically ended up killing him w chemo pills over the 6 months.  After speaking with another vet in a different clinic (after his death) she coached us that our pet should have never been left on the meds as long as he was, and the rapid weight loss and ultimate death was probably due to that.  She recommended other diet changes or simply letting him live with the disease, options which were not offered from Yorba Animal care.  Two years later we had another lab with cushings, treated per the other vet, and that lab lived a happily ending for another 3 years.

One other example of Yorba - the original lab had bleeding from his nose - took into Yorba animal care for diagnosis - they recommended xrays in case it was a tumor.  We sent him to their outside lab (other vet) for xrays .... when we didnt hear back from yorba on results we called the lab for results - they told us it was a burr in his nose they removed.  When we went back in to talk to Yorba to speak to the doctor, he told us there was a black mass that could be a tumor and that more research (expensive) could be needed.  WHen we told him what the lab had said - his first commment "you are supposed to talk to the lab - i didnt know that you had contacted them".  Question is why did i have the correct story, and end of the issue, with the Dr did not.

My input:  buyer beware, we will never be back.

  • The shop is located near a Target Store, facing Arlington, and next to Yum Yum Donuts. I park in the Target lot., They take dogs on a first come, first served basis. So, I imagine mid day Saturday would be their busiest time and longest wait. They also offer a wash your own dog service for a very reasonable price. I believe that charge is less than $20 and the price includes soap/towels and such. So, along with having a budget, do it yourself service, you can also get excellent grooming for your dog by real professionals. My point here is somehow this shop covers all the bases. Budget grooming, show grooming, special foods and pet supplies, and they are open 7 days per week.

  • We have used the pet patrol when we travel since 2007 and always have a positive experience. I can go away and not worry about our cat. Erika even texted me the first couple of visits to let me know how our cat was doing.
