    A Clean Slate

    The whole experience was great.  Mark, the owner, promptly replied to my communications and came out to give us a quote, which was very reasonable and we scheduled an appointment shortly afterwards.  We also got a quote from him to restore our shower and our tub/shower.  It was significantly more work and they actually remove and replace the caulking, clean the soap scum and hard water off the tiles and glass, etc.  This work pushed the cost over our budget so we decided to wait on that part.  

    He came with a team of himself and two others and boy did they work fast and thorough.  The made short work of my windows and man did they sparkle.  There was heavy hard water stains on most of them when we bought the house a few years ago, so I had never been able to see out of them with much clarity before.  It was wonderful! They were so clear it was as if the window wasn't even there when I looked outside.  Had I known the cost was so reasonable I would have had the windows done a loooong time ago.

    The carpets, tile floors, couch, and countertops all came out great as well.  You could see the sand sparkle in the almost 30 year old grout on the kitchen countertops, which I thought was amazing and didn't expect.  The fireplace came out beautifully.  There had been a lot of black staining on the mantle and hearth and they got it all cleaned off.

    We had a miscommunication that was my fault for assuming and not clarifying.  In our bathroom there is tile floor and a tile countertop on a small vanity.  When he did the estimate, and went over it before the service, I thought "Guest Bath Tile" would include all the tile, (floor and counter) but I should have made sure rather than assuming.  It was my fault.  When they were almost finished, I asked about the countertop he said he had just quoted for the floor and I realized the miscommunication had occurred.  It was a small countertop and wasn't a huge deal and since I had not clarified during the estimate or when we went over it before the work started, I was fine to leave it undone.  However, the woman on his team volunteered to clean the countertop anyway and when I asked Mark to please charge me for the additional work, since it was my mistake, he wouldn't do it.   I think that is high quality service that goes above and beyond.  I would have been perfectly happy and did not express any displeasure or indicate that I would have been dissatisfied if they didn't clean the countertop, so I don't believe it was "damage control" or anything of the sort.  I think they were just showing fantastic customer service.  They didn't want me just to be happy and satisfied, but thrilled and impressed, which I am.  I am also grateful for the generosity of Mark and his team. 

    This is a great company and I have already recommended them to my sister that needed some cleaning done at her house.

    Thank you to Mark and your wonderful team (I'm sorry I don't remember their names, but I remember their wonderful work and great attitudes, which was so appreciated).

    1989-Purchased a wood burning stove.  We lived in that home for 12 years, and recall the stove being serviced twice over the years.
    1990-Purchased 12 ceiling fans, including 3 outdoor fans.  No service issues on any of them. 
    1998-Purchased gas fireplace unit for our parents.  They love it.  No service issues.
    2001-Purchased 2 gas fireplace units, 6 ceiling fans.  No service issues. Sold with the home in 2003.
    2003-Purchased 3 gas fireplace units and 8 ceiling fans for our new home built. We use all of them to this day. 
    2004-Purchased hot tub - serviced 2 to 3 times over the years, still use today.  Always a positive service experience.
    2009-Purchased hot tub for 2nd home - never been serviced yet.  Works great.  Love it.
    2011-Purchased a Sun Power solar system through Energy House - Their crew was very professional, courteous and on time.  Our utility bills have gone from $500 to $1000 a month, down to $150 to $250 a month after "true up" periods are calculated. It took me awhile to figure out how that works, but we get bills of $25 to $40 a month for gas usage, then one annual bill which sums up the difference of the energy we consumed vs energy produced by our solar panels.   Bottom line is the solar system will pay for itself within 5 years.   We are very happy with our solar system, and would highly recommend Energy House.

    I called Steve this morning to inquire about cleaning the chimney. He said he was available right then and would come to the house immediately! Within in 15 minutes Steve arrived! Talk about awesome!! As far as I know the chimney hasn't been cleaned in over 4 years when I bought the home. I plan on finally using the fireplace, I am very novice when it comes to fireplaces. Steve was very informative and answered all of my questions. He also told me that I need a chimney cap to stop water from getting into the chimney, he said that he sells them but he is about saving his customers money and I could buy one from the store for $65. I can't believe there are actually people who are still out there who actually want to help their customers save money! I will definitely be using Steve for any of my fireplace needs in the future! Thank you for such great service!! :)

    Fireplace insert stopped turning on and off with the remote.  Ponderosa came out to check on this as well as do some routine maintenance.  The technician diagnosed the problem as a defective on/off switch.  Somehow, although not really explained to me, the remote started working again, but the on/off switch stopped working all together, although it did work before.  Technician did not have the part to replace the switch and said he would have to order one.  If they were to come back out and install the switch, per Company policy, and this was explained to me prior, they would have to charge me another $120 to install the switch.  Technician did say that he thought I could install the switch myself as it was very simple.  I did end up doing this myself and it was very simple.  The technician was very courteous and very clean, but did have a very hard time pulling the insert away from the wall and never did get it back fully against the wall.  After installing the on/off switch myself, I discovered that that was possibly the reason the switch stopped working in the first place as with the insert flush against the brick wall, it bent the connectors for the switch.  So when I installed it, I made sure not to push it flush against the brick wall.  The time waiting for the switch to arrive was unacceptable to me.  Took about three weeks.  I think the part about this experience that was most disappointing to me was the return charge would have been $120, IF I had not been able to do this myself.  $120 for a little switch.  But, to be fair, this policy was explained to me up front.  Also, when I went in to pick up the part, I spoke with someone, not sure his position, and he did tell me that if I had a problem, they would come out and not charge me the $120.  Still a lot of trouble to go through for a little switch.  I felt that the $170 charged to me was very high considering the amount of work that was done, which didn't seem like that much, although this is not my area of expertise.

    The team did a great job of installing the gas feed, but they put the grate in upsidedown and just lay the logs one on top of another not following the instructions that accompanied the log set. The hook-up was done well although they used a bright yellow flexible gas line which is very obvious looking in the fireplace. A black flexable line would have been much more appropriate.

    I had to take all the logs out, turn the grate upright and then reinstall the logs. Needless to say, I was dissapointed in what the installers had done outside of the gas connection they made.
