    Affordable Handyman and Remodeling Services
We hired Jose to repair our bathroom floor and install a walk-in shower. They did an amazing job, great communication. Jose is fair, punctual, honest, clean, courteous and affordable. This was actually 2 separate jobs, after they completed the flooring in the bathroom we called him back out the following week to install the shower. I highly recommend his services and we will have him back. His worker Cecilio was equally professional, thanks again.

    Affordable Handyman and Remodeling Services
I highly recommend Jose Ortiz as a contractor. He is the best handyman I have encountered in my 42 years of home ownership: Not just affordable, but creative in solving problems, meticulous in attending to details, careful, reasonable, punctual, honest, fun to work with.

Birdsall Construction & Remodeling & Plumbing
I hope that a B will not be considered a "bad grade." Overall I was quite happy with the work that Jim Birdsall and his other team members performed, but there are a couple of areas where constructive criticism seems appropriate. First, the good things: We met with Jim about five weeks before I wanted to start the project, and I explained that the timing was important. He agreed to hold the start date and he did. Once work started, it was very efficient. We had people at the house six days a week. Jim and I communicated prior to the start date in order to minimize delays once the work started. I should say that Jim does not, in my experience, respond regularly to email, so instead you should text him. Once I figured that out, communication was very good. His team is polite and professional. The tile worker was exceptionally good. His work came out beautifully and he checked in with me from time to time to confirm aspects of the design. The other worker who stood out was the one who cleaned up the holes that had been punched in the walls, so that the walls could be repaired. This hole cleanup work is tedious, making an irregular punch-out into something neat and rectangular, and it makes a big mess. This worker carried a vacuum with him everywhere he went and was clearly respectful about the fact that he was in someone's home, not just a set of walls. I really appreciated that. The electrical team was below the standard of the others. Unlike the rest, they made no almost attempt to protect our floors, walls, or doors from the mess. Busting up walls is going to be messy, but a professional crew should at least make an attempt to provide protection. They were unprepared to do that and didn't even have their own broom or dustpan to sweep up afterward. Also, the new outlet boxes are sloppily installed, in some cases either not square or not set far enough into the wall for the face plate to lie flush. Finally, the main electrician has a funny way of talking about lengths, which was confusing to everyone, even his assistants. We were installing two lights in one room, one at 3'0" (36") from one wall and the other at 3'6" (42") from the opposite wall. The main guy told his assistant, "The first one is at 3 feet and the second one is at 36." "Thirty-six" was apparently his shorthand for "three foot six," but it took a while to decode this, and when I emphasized that we were talking about 42 inches, not 36, he seemed not to understand. It's a good thing I was there. I think Jim knows that this electrical team is not up to the standard of the rest of his organization, because he griped about them a bit to me. He may even have said that it wasn't his usual electrician, but that our timetable forced him to use someone else. (I can't remember whether he said that.) If so, that's a fair trade-off, because I was asking a lot as far as the timing went and I knew that it would mean some compromises. The attic insulation people were fine. The price seemed high to me but I did a bit of looking around and it was pretty much the going rate. The painters were okay but they had to be told multiple times which colors would go on which surfaces, and they got some paint on the carpet when doing the baseboards. It's old carpet that needs to be replaced anyway and the paint is not that noticeable. Back to the positives, Jim made some good additional suggestions along the way. Replacing the attic fan unfortunately did not pan out, but I'm grateful that he suggested ceiling lights, which were inexpensive, look very clean and discreet, and are immensely helpful. If you work with him and the topic of ceiling lights comes up, ask for them with confidence! They are great and if you decide not to use them, they aren't conspicuous at all when not in use, so there's no risk. A minor gripe is that the person who installed the bathroom fixtures did not work to the degree of precision that I would like. Some distances or alignments are slightly off and the tub is not quite level, although this may be due to a defect in the tub that our compressed timetable didn't allow us to stave off. (In any case, the defect is minor and I trust Jim's assessment that it won't have any adverse implications.) He also declined to caulk the sink countertop even though I said I wanted that, because "you don't really need to." I could caulk it myself, but to have it look good requires a steadier hand than mine. I would happily go with Jim again, but I would insist on different electrical people (if we were doing more electrical work) and I would be more vigilant on some of the installation details. But I think he would be fine with that and I would expect another project to go smoothly.

    SES Builders inc
Before we started the remodeling project at our house, all we had were just some pictures from a magazine that we collected over the last few months. We met several contractors and we asked them to make the master bedroom and master bathroom to look as close as possible to these pictures. SES builders (Eli) inspect the pictures and measured the spaces and after a week, they came up with a design that changed them completely and made them better than the pictures even. Eli and his team were able to do an amazing job that included everything from demolishing to remodeling and we are super happy with how it all came out. We enjoy the new bathroom and bedroom so much that we really dont know how to thank them for the work they just did. Thank you guys

    Preferred Home Builders Inc
Initially, I wasn't 100% sold on the bid for the project. Additionally, I had already had some work done on my house, and I had quickly learned how the price for a renovation could quickly increase and how the length of time to complete a project could easily double. However, the project manager assured me that his group would adhere to the agreed upon budget, and would finish the project on schedule. Finally, when he agreed to install a tray ceiling in the adjoining living room for no extra cost, I committed to the approximate cost of $70,000. There were to be added expenses: price for pulling permits, but this was minimal and really provided peace of mind knowing that everything was installed according to code. There was also the added expense of having wooden floors installed and all new kitchen appliances, but this was to be expected and allowed me to specifically choose the degree of quality I desired to be present. I chose various stainless steal appliances for the kitchen accented by a professional grade 36-inch Wolf range-top for the island. For the floors I decided on an "antique-java fossilized" bamboo, manufactured by Cali Bamboo. Throughout the renovation I had weekly updates by phone and email, and I was given a time frame for outside items I had to purchase or order: glass door for the pantry, pendent lighting for over the island, back-splash tiling, paint colors/samples, and of course the appliances and flooring. They also agreed to demo the existing fireplace structure and place new stacked stone tiling around the new gas-inset fire place I was going to have installed. When it was all said and done, they had finished the project ahead of schedule, entirely on budget, and exceeded my lofty expectations! I would highly recommend them for future business. In fact, I'm taking my own advice. In the very near future I plan on getting a quote from PHB to renovate my master bedroom / bathroom and walk-in closet. Looking forward to this next big project!

    Anderson Reconstruction
Anderson Reconstruction was prompt throughout the entire process, including scheduling of the initial interview to develop the proposal.  Also, they've got an office staff that answers the phones and is courteous so this created a very favorable impression.

Anderson's workers were courteous, reliable, pleasant and responsive.  Greg, the owner, is charming, fair and reasonable and was very cordial and diplomatic in sorting through the inevitable issues that crop up in any big project.  Dealing directly with the owner is a decisive advantage.

Anderson's initial project timeline was accurate and they were in regular contact and visited as needed and the owner was very accessible for discussion throughout the process.  Anderson staff prepared a prompt, clear, and well-organized proposal and provided understandable explanations as the project expanded and various upgrades were considered.

The reconstruction was covered through my insurer (State Farm - largest in nation) and Anderson Construction was at the top of the list on the State Farm website.  Pricing was largely based on industry standards for insurance and contractor rates.

    Platinum Realty and Construction, Inc
Romy Dagmi from Platinum reality construction was prompt, courteous and went over the project details thoroughly.   I was initially unsure how much to take on- may be  just wanted to get the damage caused by water fixed  and asked about a few other things,  I had been previously thinking about LED light installation.  Once we agreed on the scope of the project and signed the contract, it all went so smoothly that I was quite amazed.
The electrical crew sent in by Romy: were absolutely the best.  LED lights with dimmers were installed throughout the house with minimal wall damage. The lights are bright, elegant.   The crew was very experienced and had valuable suggestions about minor details. All of this easily passed the City inspection.
The painter/handyman sent in by Romy was equally amazing.  He came in early in the morning and was just very efficient in getting the job done.  All the furniture was protected, the paint job and the garage dry wall was done so well that we cannot tell that there was damage in the first place.
Romy personally came and checked on the work to make sure everything went smoothly. One other thing that impressed me was that Romy always answered his phone to answer questions.   All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with Romy and Platinum Reality Construction  and I highly recommend them to everyone.

    Parker's Painting
,The work went very well from the beginning. Garret brought over 3 paint samples we requested before we chose the color we wanted. The crew arrived on time every single day and took care not to damage sprinklers or break any roof tiles..
The wood trim on my house had significant dry-rot in places as well as cracks and defects. The crew spent an entire week doing the prep work alone, including doing some stucco repair, replacing some damaged wood, caulking extensively and using Bondo and Epoxy to repair some rafters. It took another week and a half to paint the trim, stucco, and door. They always cleaned up at the end of the day.
The neighbors commented on how nice our house looked after they finished.

    Luminosity Painting Company
Everything I asked to be done, he said"no problem" and got it on my long to-do list of things I rambled off.  Although I am rather scattered in my thoughts when it comes to home improvements, he managed to compile everything into one nicely presented work order document.  There wasn't even one request I had that he couldn't get taken care of, it was so nice to have a one-stop shop.
Mark personally showed up every day to closely monitor and watch the craftsmanship of the work being done.  If something didn't appear perfect, I didn't have to say anything, Mark noticed it (usually before I ever did) and would give instruction on the change he expected and how it should look.  The attention to detail was very impressive.
When the time comes to paint the outside of my house, Mark will be getting my business.  I have also referred Mark to my Mom & Dad and a few friends that need home-improvements done in the area.
    Great job!  A++
