    Affordable Handyman and Remodeling Services
I highly recommend Jose Ortiz as a contractor. He is the best handyman I have encountered in my 42 years of home ownership: Not just affordable, but creative in solving problems, meticulous in attending to details, careful, reasonable, punctual, honest, fun to work with.

    Preferred Home Builders Inc
Initially, I wasn't 100% sold on the bid for the project. Additionally, I had already had some work done on my house, and I had quickly learned how the price for a renovation could quickly increase and how the length of time to complete a project could easily double. However, the project manager assured me that his group would adhere to the agreed upon budget, and would finish the project on schedule. Finally, when he agreed to install a tray ceiling in the adjoining living room for no extra cost, I committed to the approximate cost of $70,000. There were to be added expenses: price for pulling permits, but this was minimal and really provided peace of mind knowing that everything was installed according to code. There was also the added expense of having wooden floors installed and all new kitchen appliances, but this was to be expected and allowed me to specifically choose the degree of quality I desired to be present. I chose various stainless steal appliances for the kitchen accented by a professional grade 36-inch Wolf range-top for the island. For the floors I decided on an "antique-java fossilized" bamboo, manufactured by Cali Bamboo. Throughout the renovation I had weekly updates by phone and email, and I was given a time frame for outside items I had to purchase or order: glass door for the pantry, pendent lighting for over the island, back-splash tiling, paint colors/samples, and of course the appliances and flooring. They also agreed to demo the existing fireplace structure and place new stacked stone tiling around the new gas-inset fire place I was going to have installed. When it was all said and done, they had finished the project ahead of schedule, entirely on budget, and exceeded my lofty expectations! I would highly recommend them for future business. In fact, I'm taking my own advice. In the very near future I plan on getting a quote from PHB to renovate my master bedroom / bathroom and walk-in closet. Looking forward to this next big project!

    Classic Home Improvement Products
We have two retractable screen doors and we had them put in 7 years ago. When we moved in here, we had them installed. It was just time for a service call. They have a lifetime warranty on their product. They're just really good about hanging around and keeping everything right and well for us. I would definitely use them again.

    All Cities Glass and Screen
First of all, Don was very informative and honest even when I first spoke with him on the phone about my situation.  This is a mom and pop shop so I wasn't accustomed to their quick personal response.   Don was able to come out for a quick estimate within 2 hours of calling him.  Once he came, he was not flustered like others who tried to exaggerate the difficulty of the glass repair.  CR Glass initially quoted me $350, then once the technician came, price ballooned to $700 bc of the "difficulty" involved in repairing the glass door that will take 2-3 days to complete.
Don came out again 2 days later to install and finished the job in about 4.5 hrs.  Not once did he sigh or become inpatient with the repair even when he hit a glitch.  I am very comfortable recommending him to all my friends and family.  I would use Don without hesitation for any future repair.

Alta Sierra-High Quality Milgard Windows and Doors
The windows and door look great! It took some time to get it quoted and scheduled with some hiccups with timing but it was worth the patience to have Chris work on the windows and door. He also built window banks around the new windows, framed the new door with vinyl and did some free touch-ups on a couple of the windows and doors in the house. The screen door for the sliding door took another few weeks to arrive since the first one was the wrong color and we did have to follow up to get the screen door installed, but now it's in and functional.

Very well. They arrived on time and were very nice and respectful of us and our home. That means a lot to us. They didn't do anything until it was all checked out and we had our questions answered. The crew took down our blinds and replaced them after the windows were installed. They took one day for all the widows and took down the old ones and while replacing with the new windows they did not break anything or disturb anything inside or outside. The crew cleaned up after itself and were very quiet. When the crew came to replace the sliding door they arrived on time and stated the work with removing a very large slider being careful not to damage anything inside or outside. They reduced the size of the opening for the smaller French door and were very detailed and making sure that the new door was set correctly and that it closed well. After it settled we had them come back and adjust as they told us this might happen. When the door knob would not latch they set an appointment for the manufacturer to come and adjust the latch. They came out and fixed it and we love everything about our windows and door.

    A-1 Budget Glass LLC
Installed a shower wall and adjoining shower door in our newly remodeled bathroom.  soon after the door slipped and began hanging unevenly. had to call them a half a dozen times over the next few months.  Each time they would come and tighten the bolts to correct. After a couple of weeks the issue would pop up again.

    |After the last time I recommended that they install a third hinge in the middle as two hinges were not sufficiently strong enough to hold such a heavy door.  The owner agreed (finally), although this meant that they would have to completely replace the entire door.

    |Three weeks later they came and installed the second door.  Unfortunately they did not bring the sill / door stop as it was not in stock.  After one week I called the receptionist who stated that they would bring it by to install it when a technician was in the area.  No consideration to our inconvenience for the past year.  No consideration for my convenience.

    |It was clear that this receptionist did not care for the hassle I appeared to be causing.  She was rude and abrupt each time she was on the phone with me.  Matter of fact, a couple of others were rude on the phone as well...although not as bad as she.

    |The TECHNICIANS were very nice and polite. They are the only reason I did not grade a couple of the areas 'F' as opposed to the 'D' that I marked.  Always apologizing for the hassle that we were going through.  Those in the office....not so much.

    |I would NOT recommend this company.  Matter of fact, when I read reviews of others on other sites it was apparent that someone in the office was 'rebutting' those comments of customers...although they would make it seem as if they were other customers.  Very obvious.

    |My case is rather unique and really stands out.  Betting that a rebuttal might pop up on Angie's List. Stand by.....

    Precise Home Builders

First off, the owner Moshe is a real pleasure to work with.  He and his team have a passion to do a good job.  His office manager, Lee is on top of her game at all times.  She did a great job of keeping me apprised of the status of the project, deliverables, and informed me when payments were due.  This was supposed to be a three month project, and turned out to be a 4 month project, primarily because I added more to the scope of work.  There was a long delay with the City of Claremont in getting permits which cause the project to be delayed about 1 1/2 months or so.
Moshe had great references for various vendors to work with.  This made the project go smoother, as all of the references were people had good relationships with Moshe.  In most cases, I received the contractor's pricing for appliances and material.
His workers are one of the hardest working crews I've ever seen.  They are passionate about doing a good job.  The dry walling and slurry sealing was impeccable.  Paint work was excellent.  His foreman, Adalid, is very knowledgeable and thorough in his work.  There was nothing that he could not solve.
I don't want to make it sound like there were not any bumps in the road.  There were communication issues that came up, and Moshe and his team were able to resolve.  There were some disagreements about what was supposed to be included in the specs, but we worked through some of those issues.
Much of the communications was done by email which made the project easier for me to manage.
If there was anything that I would offer up that Moshe could have done better it would be to work more closely with the home

owner in anticipating exactly what is needed to satisfy the homeowner.  One of the questions I had for Moshe was what would be the estimated cost of all the material I would have to buy to complete the job.  His pricing was for doing the construction work.   I made it clear to Moshe that I was building my dream home and that was not going to be skimping on appliances and material.  I spent far more money on material than  Moshe had estimated.
Moshe was quick to do a contract for me, and yes, he did give me opportunity to review the specifications, however, I felt that I was being rushed to sign a contract without fully absorbing all the specs.  There were things that I had told Moshe that I wanted to do to the house, yet, it was not included in the specs.  He did give me an opportunity to review and add, however, in my haste to get the project started, I didn't look closely enough at all the specs to see if the items I expected he was going to do was in the contract.  Needless to say, my advice to anyone who is embarking on a major remodel needs to completely know what he/she wants to have done and included in the project.  Otherwise, all of these omitted items will be adds to the project.
My advice to Moshe to be an even more effective home builder, he should be anticipating what the customer wants before the customer even knows he/she wants it.
Overall, Moshe and his team was a pleasure to work with.  I would recommend him to anyone.  I would use him again in the future.

    Pedrino Home Remodeling
They came out on time, as scheduled, and spent a couple of hours at least going over all of the work involved, measuring and re-measuring the windows, and explaining how the windows would look and the work that would be done.  They provided a fair and accurate estimate of the cost, and stuck to it.  There were no hidden charges or extra charges that came up during the installation.    It took about 4-6 weeks, as they promised, for the windows and shutters to be done.  Scheduling the installation was easy--they worked with my crazy schedule.  They showed up on time and the window installation went smoothly.  It took about six hours to take out all the old windows (6 of them) and the sliding glass door.  They did one area at a time, taking out the old and replacing it with the new.  I love my new windows.  They matched the panes (squares) of the old windows so that they largely matched those in the rest of the complex.  The sliding glass door is gorgeous--I hated to cover it up with shutters.  The shutter installation took place two days after (again to work with my schedule).  The installer, working alone, managed to get all the shutters installed in about 4 hours.  After installing all the shutters, he checked each one of them for scratches, and touched up and filled whatever holes he found (even those that were there before) from nailing them to the wall.  The shutters are good quality--wood, 4 inch slats in white.  They make the house look brighter, and more finished than mini blinds or drapes.  Overall, I'm very happy with the quality of their products and with their labor.  They were honest and easy to deal with, and I feel like I got a good deal with them.

    Jerry Braxtor
I called Jerry to do a drywall patch in a cabinet on my rental property. He came out to look at it and see what materials he might need. I also asked him to replace some insulating trim around a back door, because the tenant had complained that the door was leaky in the winter. The door was in bad shape overall; it was delaminating on the exterior side and had dry rot at the base of the frame due to water hitting it over the years. Bugs and dirt would get in under the door, the threshold didn't fit well, and the deadbolt did not turn easily. Jerry suggested I solve all these problems at once by replacing the door with a steel door. I was hesitant, because although I knew the door needed to be dealt with, I had no experience with replacing doors and it was also important to me that any new door look the same as the original. He assured me that he would have no trouble finding a matching door and he could do both jobs in a day. I agreed. Later that day he texted me a picture of the proposed replacement door from the store. It was perfect. The next day he came back with the door and completed both jobs without any problems cropping up. The door looks great, opens and closes easily, with no gaps, and working the deadbolt is a breeze. I'm very happy to have this problem solved so easily. Jerry is a very hard worker, is ethical and very personable. He tries to give you as much value for his time and your money as he can. He charges for the day (7-8 hours), and the cost of materials is added to the day rate. This job was $400, including all materials. Jerry is now my go-to guy for repairs at my rental properties.
