    Your Favorite Contractor, Inc.
We are still in the process but up until now we are very happy with Itay and his crew. They have been completely professional every day, doing good work, passing inspections on the first go, etc. Other contractors bid on the job at a lower price, but I believe that you get what you pay for. At the first meeting Itay prepared a 3D mockup of the addition within 10 minutes, and was able to connect with us on what we wanted and put it into action. This kind of service from a contractor is invaluable. Anyone who can snag them would be equally as pleased. Once we are finished with construction, I will add more photos.

    J. Harrington Construction, Corp.
Unfortunately, the experience with this contractor was horrible. Communication was terrible on very important aspects of the job including permits and scope of work. The job was to take 6 weeks and instead took 4 1/2 months. Jan was not interested in making sure work was done according to building codes and compliant with permits. Visits to the job were primarily to collect money and were infrequent. When concerns were communicated to Jan, her response was to blame the customer. Needless to say, this approach to treating customers was shocking. When problems arose, Jan found a way to rationalize the situation rather than express a sense of urgency to getting things corrected and done with better workmanship. Repeated requests to make the work area cleaner and limit dust were ignored. Calls went unanswered even over a holiday weekend when a leak seeped through to the first floor.
Questions and a detail oriented approach by a customer are resented by this contractor. It is truly unfortunate that there is a severe lack of communication and customer service skills by this individual. Some of the tradesmen who work for Jan are great. As the General Contractor with the license, my expectations were that Jan would be more involved in the details and would be interested in making sure work done was quality work. This did not happen. There appeared to be more interest in over charging for add ons then in the quality of structural and safety issues.
Needless to say, I will never use this contractor again. If anyone decides to use this company, please make sure you get everything in very very detailed writing and that all aspects of the contract are followed or you will have a very unpleasant experience with your project.

The finish work was excellent. The gate too. All closet doors were done well. Took a long time though with some coming and going before it was complete. Dennis was consciences and showed up on Saturday morning because he was worried that the front door was not secure. Did want to charge me $50 to spackle 6 screw holes. Thought that was pretty much outside the norm.

    Larry Rich
Larry worked for me for six weeks about 30 hours a week helping me refurbish a home that I bought and was making available for rent. I was impressed with his versatility and professional skills. Larry was recommended to me by a friend that I trust. I use Angie's list regularly to get my services, so I was a little hesitant about hiring him. However, I couldn't have been happier with his services and how he handled communications with me. Larry worked closely with me. I told him that I didn't want to spend a lot of money and that the house needed lots of small repairs and sprucing up. I turned the job over to him and, oh my, how great it was to trust him. He went from room to room and thoroughly, and I mean thorougly, fixed all the minor nicks, broken wires, non-sliding windows, patching drywall, repairing door trim and door handles. Near the end of the job, I decided to divide one large room into two so that I could get a third bedroom. He put in a beautiful wall, trimmed out the door, and installed a closet. One neat thing that he did was to take the two old kitchen doors, cut them down to fit, and installed new french doors to the new master bedroom suite! Saving me a lot of money. Very cool. Another thing I like about Larry is that he takes seriously the value of your time. He doesn't answer personal cell phone calls and trys to stay focused on the job. He charged me $20 per hour and I trusted him to keep his own hours. He's an older guy, has his own ideas about things, but will do what you want. If you ask his advice, he'll give it, but he won't impose his ideas. He has worked in the construction business for years installing custom cabinets, and finish carpentry, so he is extremely efficient. Another person might not be as fast as Larry because he knows so many tricks of the trade, which makes him not make as many mistakes as other handymen I have worked with. I was able to rent my house as he was finishing the work. He even was there to let people in to show it. I couldn't have been happier with his work.

    Three Star Painting
Marty came in with the best quote. Was very professional and started the job when he said he would. His team was punctual and worked hard to get the job completed in 3 days. The cleaned up after themselves and did an excellent job on the house.

Dennis was very punctual and professional, and explained everything in full layman's terms. He took notes of everything as we walked around the house itemizing things. A day or two later he emailed me a full, detailed estimate of the work involved with each project along with the associated cost. This is great in case you need to remove certain items, you know what each individual one costs. Once everything was agreed upon he came back out and completed the projects over the course of a few days. He cleaned up nicely after himself (never leaving a mess), and made sure I was satisfied with his job before taking the payment. I would definitely hire Dennis again.

It was a quick and smooth process. Chris provided a written estimate and from the time we gave him the "we're ready to go", until the city signed off it was 10 days. Chris and his colleague were extremely friendly and kept us aware of the next steps all along the way.
