Does a Painting Estimate Really Matter?

Interior Painting reviews in City Of Industry

    Franklyns painting
Franklyn is without a doubt one of the best painters I've come across. I'm a homeowner of several properties and he has taken on so many challenges which include exterior paint, interior paint, stucco, as well as some light cement work. Each job he performs with delicate and precise attention to detail. This is a quality you want when hiring a great painter. Also, his pricing is fair and affordable compared to other painters I've worked with and compared. (Note: Also known as Franklyn Painting)

    Southern California Painter
I needed interior paint for a rental unit. I didn't need top quality job. I just needed fresh paint, however all estimates I got were very expensive. I think because I got estimates from the painting or remodeling company. So I tried handy man instead of the painting company and this company's estimate was about half to one third less than other company. So I immediately sign the contract. They did job as they told me. Quality is so so but satisfactory for the price. If your priority is inexpensiveness than quality, I recommend this company.

    MC Construction And Design
We have done several remodels before including a $300K full house remodel back in 2015 that took 3 month and involved a Civil Engineer. So we are pretty experienced in dealing with contractors. Now, this is not the horror story where contractor takes your money and disappears. To be fair, MC Construction is a legitimate business. They will get the work done, eventually. But this process, oh man, I don't know where to even begin. Let's just say that my perfectionist Virgo husband used to have pretty severe OCD. This remodeling project cured him. All jokes aside, I rarely write bad reviews, but these people are reaching our limit of patience. I highly doubt how they got so many 5 star reviews. This is a $125K project. We signed the contract on 5/17/2018 and left plenty of time for it to be finished by 7/31 (At one time, they thought it'll be done by 7/10). Since I'm pregnant and due in Sept, they promised me everything will be done by 7/31 with 5 exclamation marks at the end. Now it's already 8/24 and we are still going through this trial and tribulation, living in a rental (3+ months now) with no end in sight. The project manager's name is Ron. To get the job, he would paint such a wonderful picture of how smoothly the project will go with him in charge. Oh how were we treated to surprises after surprises. Promise 1: All the workers working on our house will be the company's own crew. Promise 2: They will treat our house with the outmost respect. Everything will be protected. When their worker leaves by day's end, everything will be cleaned up Promise 3: The worker will come every day at 8 am and leave at 5 pm during week days until the project is finished. Promise 4: They will produce the highest quality of work. Ron claims that he is extremely detailed and that even my husband cannot be more detailed than him. What we got: 1. He subcontracted everything out: the painter, plumber, electrician, and carpenter. Most of them have barely worked with MC construction. Our project is either the first time that they used this carpenter 2. No dumpster was rented for construction waste. Our garage and driveway were their dumpster. We got repeated warning from our HoA. I kept telling them to remove the trash but nothing happened! My washer and dryer stored in the garage are now severely scratched and damaged. Someone even stepped on the dryer when using it as a ladder, leaving a huge dent. 3. At the beginning, we trusted Ron and didn't follow the progress closely. In July, we got worried and started to check the house 2-3 times a week. To our surprise, no one was there most of the week! I called Ron every day to try to get the updates. He always promises everything will be on track and then do NOTHING. There are 3 weeks with NO ONE working because of the ridiculous reason that they are waiting for the baseboard?!! Until we had a very uncomfortable conversation with Ron at end of July, things started to move a little faster. Maybe 2-3 days a week, you will get a full crew. The house is still not in livable condition. Lots of stuff missing and damaged! Toilet not installed. Today (8/24) the inspector came, and Ron is not there. My husband met the inspector and learned to our horror that we might not pass electrical inspection! 4. The job is SLOPPY. Everything had to be constantly adjusted. The paint on the barn door are full of bubbles and drips. They installed a prefab floating vanity crooked. One side is higher than the other by almost 1 inch! Ron first tells me that it is leveled. When we insisted, his guy adjusted only the backsplash to be level. Then it became even more obvious with a ~1" gap between the backsplash and the countertop on one side and no gap on the other. He just filled the gap with cement and tells us that there is nothing more he can do. After a long argument, he finally agreed to adjust the vanity. Any responsible contractor seeing such big screw-up and will automatically fix it. With Ron, we had to fight and argue With Ron, it is a combination of inexperience and EXTREME irresponsibility. To give an example, our rangerhood is installed crooked. Ron told us on 8/21 that we have to wait 6 days to get it fixed because the handyman who did the job is on vacation and he already paid him. Wow! With 21 days over a 2 month project, any responsible contractor's first priority would be to finish the work. No one is monitoring the project. Ron would come at most 2 days/wk. And stay perhaps 2 hrs. Whenever we see him, he's either on the phone or working on his computer. No one is checking the works. The subcontractors are just managing themselves. Things go missing all the time. The plumber couldn't install the wall-hung toilet because of missing parts. He had to look everywhere and found them in the trash can! Now, my husband don't go to work anymore. Instead, he goes to the house everyday to manage the workers and hope they can get it done ASAP.

    American Home Improvement Inc
Sam at American Home Improvement is no less than a true professional and skilled person. Excellent designs and executer, attractive and high end workmanship that was done on time and budget. In the communication side, Sam was very good as well and his crew did the entire work on the best side while focusing on perfection and beauty. His work exceeded our expectations by far and it was worth each and every penny of our money.

    Best Builders Group Inc
My husband and I had Zohar and his group of skilled people worked at our house on the remodeling project of our new purchase house. From start to finish, the whole remodeling project went without any problem and efficiently. All of the workers that were fully involved at the remodeling project were very experienced, hardworking, and honest and with many years of involvement with Zohar which is something very important about Best Builders Group. Any problem, issue, concern or even idea that came up during the work, was taken care seriously and right away. We highly recommend Zohar and Best Builders Group.

    American Home Improvement Inc
Recently we had American home improvement do a complete remodeling of our master bathroom. Everything in that remodeling project came out perfectly. Everyone arrived to our house each day (during the week) and on time, they were very well-organized, reasonable with the overall price of the work and during the work they were even able to offer several wonderful implementation ideas. They did a wonderful work by removing the old bathtub and exchanging it with a large walk in steaming shower. They also built a modern double sink vanity with new tile flooring.

    Premium Remodeling Inc
These people made our lives a living **** for 19 weeks on a job that they told us would last 3-6 weeks. Part of the reason the job lasted so long is that our project manager left for a vacation to Israel in the middle of the job, and another project manager was assigned to us even though he had his hands full with other projects. It was routine for days, even a week to go by when no one would show up to work and no one would call us from the company to tell us why. The longest period was 8 straight days with no workers and no phone calls from anyone connected with Premium Remodeling Inc. As far as the work goes, every single step was a battle. Even after the job was finished we didn't want to go into the kitchen for weeks afterward because the process had been so traumatic. They lied to us repeatedly. One example is that they said they don't use subcontractors. Well almost everything that they did was done by subcontractors. And one of their subcontractors stole some supplies from us and even though we told the home office and our project manager about the theft they sent the same guy back to do work on our kitchen. And his work was horrible. He lied about connecting our microwave and venting it through our roof. In fact, he just vented it into our attic and left it like that. We had to get photographic evidence of this in order to have it corrected. He installed our new sink and faucet, and we had to have workers come back three more times to correct his work. I could write a book about our experiences with this company, but I'll make it short by saying the following: 1. Don't hire them! I wouldnt hire them again to build a dog house. I wouldnt hire them again if they agreed to work for free. I dont mean that as exaggeration; Im dead serious. 2. If you do hire them, pay VERY close attention to your contract. Pay attention to the language of the contract. Don't sign it until you have a lawyer or another contractor look at it. One clause your contract will contain asks both parties to agree to forego the right to take legal action in the event of a dispute and instead agree to arbitration. Sounds reasonable, right? Well, at two different points in our nightmare with Premium Remodeling Inc we told them we wanted to go to arbitration to settle a dispute. Both times they told us that if we did that they would put a lien on our house. So both times we backed off. Understand that if you agree to arbitration you are giving up any legal leverage you have in the process. 3. Get EVERYTHING in writing. Don't expect this company to do anything they promise to do if you don't have it in writing. I can say two positive things about the company. 1. Our second project manager, Shown, was a huge improvement over the first project manager we were assigned. I think he did his best under the circumstances. 2. There is a lady named Elle who works in the office and she was very pleasant to deal with over the phone and kept her word to us in the few dealings we had with her. If all of Premium Remodeling Incs employees were like Shown and Elle the company would be much better and my grade for them would have been much higher.

    SES Builders inc
SES builders did for our house an amazing remodeling job. They remodeled my master bathroom, master bedroom, hallway, stairs and the guest bathroom. Joe, our project manager, was very skilled and professional from the beginning we met till the end of the work and his people were very friendly as well. The remodeling project finished much sooner than we imagined they will and we were fascinated by the completed work. The attention to all the details was lot more than we expected. The remodeling work that they did was with high quality and everything looks perfect. Working with them was a truly joy and easy experience and we will contract them for any of our future remodeling.

    Pure Energy Construction
Found em online 6 months ago. We started work within 2 weeks. The guys completely gutted the bathroom, removed the existing vanity & replaced it with a double bowl sink, replaced the toilet, tub, shower walls, and floor. The only thing they didnt remove was a portion of the drywall . Fortunately, the bones of our bathroom were in good shape, and there was no water damage or mold issues which we were told was a possibility. We had a vent over the toilet and it wasn't doing much good so Tom and his team repositioned the vent over the shower to make it more effective. Got new flooring, painted and it really looks great. Doesn't look like the same bathroom we had 7 months ago. I am glad we found Pure Energy Constructions, we would use them again and I'd recommend them to anyone.

    Best Builders Group Inc
I hired Best Builders group for the remodeling project of my master closet, master bathroom and mainly the kitchen. I had my vision of how I want them to be done and more than that, I was able to design my drawings of the spaces and I just needed someone reliable that can make it happen. I spoke to few contractors and met with them too. One of them was Zohar. Zohar was very nice, professional and skilled contractor when we met and he captured my attention compare to the other ones. The remodeling supposed to be finish within a month of work but due to several changes that we did during the work, it ended up that the remodeling took a little longer than it should but at the end. I can say clearly that it was well worth it! I must mention also, that Zohar didnt charge me anything more what we agreed on and he was very fair and honest while the quality of the work and the customer service was beyond compare.
