General Contracting reviews in City Of Industry

    MC Construction And Design
We have done several remodels before including a $300K full house remodel back in 2015 that took 3 month and involved a Civil Engineer. So we are pretty experienced in dealing with contractors. Now, this is not the horror story where contractor takes your money and disappears. To be fair, MC Construction is a legitimate business. They will get the work done, eventually. But this process, oh man, I don't know where to even begin. Let's just say that my perfectionist Virgo husband used to have pretty severe OCD. This remodeling project cured him. All jokes aside, I rarely write bad reviews, but these people are reaching our limit of patience. I highly doubt how they got so many 5 star reviews. This is a $125K project. We signed the contract on 5/17/2018 and left plenty of time for it to be finished by 7/31 (At one time, they thought it'll be done by 7/10). Since I'm pregnant and due in Sept, they promised me everything will be done by 7/31 with 5 exclamation marks at the end. Now it's already 8/24 and we are still going through this trial and tribulation, living in a rental (3+ months now) with no end in sight. The project manager's name is Ron. To get the job, he would paint such a wonderful picture of how smoothly the project will go with him in charge. Oh how were we treated to surprises after surprises. Promise 1: All the workers working on our house will be the company's own crew. Promise 2: They will treat our house with the outmost respect. Everything will be protected. When their worker leaves by day's end, everything will be cleaned up Promise 3: The worker will come every day at 8 am and leave at 5 pm during week days until the project is finished. Promise 4: They will produce the highest quality of work. Ron claims that he is extremely detailed and that even my husband cannot be more detailed than him. What we got: 1. He subcontracted everything out: the painter, plumber, electrician, and carpenter. Most of them have barely worked with MC construction. Our project is either the first time that they used this carpenter 2. No dumpster was rented for construction waste. Our garage and driveway were their dumpster. We got repeated warning from our HoA. I kept telling them to remove the trash but nothing happened! My washer and dryer stored in the garage are now severely scratched and damaged. Someone even stepped on the dryer when using it as a ladder, leaving a huge dent. 3. At the beginning, we trusted Ron and didn't follow the progress closely. In July, we got worried and started to check the house 2-3 times a week. To our surprise, no one was there most of the week! I called Ron every day to try to get the updates. He always promises everything will be on track and then do NOTHING. There are 3 weeks with NO ONE working because of the ridiculous reason that they are waiting for the baseboard?!! Until we had a very uncomfortable conversation with Ron at end of July, things started to move a little faster. Maybe 2-3 days a week, you will get a full crew. The house is still not in livable condition. Lots of stuff missing and damaged! Toilet not installed. Today (8/24) the inspector came, and Ron is not there. My husband met the inspector and learned to our horror that we might not pass electrical inspection! 4. The job is SLOPPY. Everything had to be constantly adjusted. The paint on the barn door are full of bubbles and drips. They installed a prefab floating vanity crooked. One side is higher than the other by almost 1 inch! Ron first tells me that it is leveled. When we insisted, his guy adjusted only the backsplash to be level. Then it became even more obvious with a ~1" gap between the backsplash and the countertop on one side and no gap on the other. He just filled the gap with cement and tells us that there is nothing more he can do. After a long argument, he finally agreed to adjust the vanity. Any responsible contractor seeing such big screw-up and will automatically fix it. With Ron, we had to fight and argue With Ron, it is a combination of inexperience and EXTREME irresponsibility. To give an example, our rangerhood is installed crooked. Ron told us on 8/21 that we have to wait 6 days to get it fixed because the handyman who did the job is on vacation and he already paid him. Wow! With 21 days over a 2 month project, any responsible contractor's first priority would be to finish the work. No one is monitoring the project. Ron would come at most 2 days/wk. And stay perhaps 2 hrs. Whenever we see him, he's either on the phone or working on his computer. No one is checking the works. The subcontractors are just managing themselves. Things go missing all the time. The plumber couldn't install the wall-hung toilet because of missing parts. He had to look everywhere and found them in the trash can! Now, my husband don't go to work anymore. Instead, he goes to the house everyday to manage the workers and hope they can get it done ASAP.

    George Dones
George's work is amazing! He is very professional, knowledgeable and is easy to talk to when it comes to putting ideas together. He takes time to explain and make sure you understand what he is doing. One of the bathrooms was a challenge because of the plumbing. He had to redo the plumbing in order to make the cabinet and sink that I wanted installed fit. Otherwise, I would have had to go searching for something different. I received many estimates and was told that the work I wanted to have done would take a week. George got it done in two days! I'm very pleased with the outcome and I look forward to contacting him again. If you are reading this George is worth every penny and don't forget to write a review. Thank you George!

    Door Dr
His job went well and he didn't waste any time, when finished, I was presented with a well fitting door that matched the others in my house.  His prices are reasonable, and I'd hire him again--good workmen are hard to find.
P.S.  Please forgive me; the above was written a month ago.
When I called him back under warranty, he didn't return.

    Love Remodeling

Our roof was shedding shingles during the past several weeks during winding periods. The ridge shingles were breaking and cracking. Angie's List's Big Deal was well timed. We made initial contact with Love Remodeling after purchasing the Big Deal. We were contacted by Nick Z, Field Supervisor, within the following day of receiving email notification of the Deal being authorized. Nick was very personable, helpful, professional and knowledgeable. He answered all questions in a fashion that was understandable to us without being overly technical. He carefully and completely explain all the steps in the process that would be followed in replacing our current roof covering. His estimate of the roof area was accurate. We were supplied with samples of the shingles that were available under the Big Deal. We also discussed the need and placement dormer vents, drip edges and flashing materials. He shared with us the pros and cons of each one of the samples and allowed us to make the choice without undue pressure. We agreed on the contract price, payment schedule and set up a work schedule that fit our plans. A plus with collecting payment was the use of a mobile credit card authorizing device. No waiting for checks to clear.

Work on the scheduled start day began as agreed. Areas in the garage that might be subjected to falling debris were covered with plastic for protection and ease of later cleanup. Nick obtained the necessary permit and scheduled the inspections from the County Building Inspectors. The demo was begun and completed in a day and a half. We appreciated that daily cleanup by workers after each day's work. We were thankful that a magnetic tool was used to locate roofing days on the ground. No flat tires were experienced by using this tool! A different crew was used to install the new shingles, flashings and drip edges. We provided the necessary access to an electrical outlet to the crew. The installers completed the installation quickly and efficiently. Their work was geared to our schedule and was what expected in regards to disruptions to our regular patterns. Both crews were very professional and respectful of home and surrounding landscaping in their work. Start to finish the process took four days to complete. Nick also did a final sweep to clear and shingle pieces and hidden nails in the garden beds, walkways and driveway areas after the job was completed.

We are very pleased with the results! Our new roof has received several compliments about the looks and the effectiveness of the work from our neighbors. The roof was tested the next day with rain. No leaks were evident and the drainage of the runoff was as planned. We are pleased to highly recommend Love Remodeling for their fair prices, great work crews and professional project management. Nick and the work crews from Love Remodeling were really great to work with on this project.

    Regal Construction & Remodeling Inc
We are very pleased with Regal Construction work, last year they remodeled our kitchen and we were very satisfied  with the outcome of our kitchen it's so beautiful.  So when we were ready to remodel our bathroom we call Sean Aichel with Regal Construction again because we knew they would do a great job.
At our first meeting Sean ask what we wanted done in our bathroom.  We told him what we wanted done then he came back with a 3D printout on how it would look which we loved.  Once everything is agreed on we set up the start date.
They demolished the entire bathroom and removed all debris, when this was completed they discovered water damaged. They removed all the plywood, floor joist. Then they upgraded the sewer line and plumbing and also installed shower fixtures. They also reinforce house under the bathroom, jack level work area and installed new pads and floor joists.  Once every thing was done on the floor they completed and upgraded all the electrical then they installed our tub. They insulated the walls and put new dry wall once this was done they prepared the walls for tile.
The tile was completed on floor and walls and came out beautiful and elegant they also made shelves in the shower and tub area using mosaic tile.  After this was done they primed and painted all the walls.  Then they installed vanity and top, faucets, toilet, mirror, shower rod, GFI outlets, 2 recess lights LED, vanity lights, exhaust fan and base board.  This completed the work on our bathroom which came out beautiful.
They also removed our old patio roof and replaced a new one with the material that we wanted.
We are very pleased with the work done by Regal employees there was never a mess in our home. They clean up after them self every day we would recommend Regal Construction to any one who love quality and craftsmanship you will be very pleased with their work.
    Thank You Regal Construction

    George Dones
I'm glad we found George on Angie's list. Finding a good contractor is like looking for good auto mechanic. Do you really trust them to not hose you on unneccessary work? I'll be calling George for future work. He quoted a price upfront and stuck to it even when additional work was needed because of manufacturing problems with the door frames. He wanted to make sure the doors were right and went so far as to disassemble the frame on one and fix it because it was too wide. The hinges also weren't set at the right depth and he fixed those too. The doors would have worked as they were but he didn't want to leave them just because they was "OK". He offered several cost saving ideas and recommendations for future remodeling we want to do as we were only fixing a few things right now.
He's very punctual and quite personable. Once the job started he and his crew stayed at it every day until everything was completed. They took great care to put down tarps and clean everything up every day. You would hardly know they had been there.
We are extremely satisfied with George's work and will definitely be calling him back for our next project.
